This responsible landlord (me!) wanted to remedy the fancy LG HE washing machine problem my tenant was having asap. So 3 weeks after moving in we were getting ready to move out. I found a washer and dryer - refurbished Kennmore models for $240 each. With tax, just over $520. Free delivery and hookup. Yes, that's right folks - FREE DELIVERY AND HOOKUP!!! Ramon only takes checks and cash. He delivered on time the next day, hooked up my appliances, shook my hand, and drove off to his next install. I expect to get good use out of my "new" appliances, and if there are problems, I trust Ramon will stand by the sale. I highly recommend City Appliances if you are in the market for a refurbished washer, dryer, or refrigerator. UPDATE: After running my first load in the dryer, it stopped heating. I called Ramon and he said he would come out the next day to take a look. The dryer had a blown thermal fuse. He replaced it, but the fuse blew a second time right away. He thought the problem might be with the dryer vent being clogged. He did not have any more fuses that evening, but he said he would come the next day and replace the fuse again and clean out the vent. When you buy a refurbished appliance from City Appliances, it's like getting a new appliance for the cost of a used one, and they stand by the products they sell. When my 12 year old Whirlpool washing machine started acting up, he was able to diagnose the problem over the phone, and gave me a very reasonable quote. He came out the next day, verified the problem, replaced a few parts, and now it runs like it's a new washing machine. My first experience a couple of years ago when my dryer went out was amazing and the dryer is still going strong. However, last year I bought a washer, shortly after the hot water valve started leaving and was not remedied with new hoses, washers, etc. It have now been more than 6 months since the problem started. It has not been repaired or replaced. Calls are not returned and when I do speak with the owner he says he will check on the part and get back to me. He never does. This is horrible customer service. I have been using the laundry mat for the few items requiring hot water, causing more expense plus the time and lugging the laundry stuff around. I do not recommend using them for service of your appliance, nor purchasing as they have not stood behind their guarantee. read more

Couple months later it was starting to leak water in the fridge area from the top. Yeah bummer but unlike my Craigslist failure, I was able to call the store to let Ramon know because of the three month warranty. He asked when I bought it, I told him and no questions more asked what the issue was and when he could come by to fix it. Soo... We have had a few issues with our washer, but notice the 5 star rating. These guys are awesome. They have been nothing but professional and courteous since they initially came out and installed the washer after purchase. The washer we purchased from them worked great, and they even replaced a fussy hose that was already at the spigot. About 8 months later, the cold water stopped working. After a bit of messing around with it, I figured it was the solenoid. When I called to see if they were willing to take a look, they were here the next day and replaced it!!! Seeing as how it was 8 months later and past our warranty, they still drove all they way out to my house and asked for only $20 for the part. I gave them $40 as we live out in the cuts of Sebastopol and they were simply friendly. A few months down the road, suddenly the washer stopped draining and would not initiate the spin cycle. I was like, insert foul expletive here, there's no way they come out again, right? Sure enough, when I called, they were out here 2 days later and fixed the issue by replacing the capacitor. Again, $40. Considering a brand new washer from some huge retail store might have a longer warranty, but cost us 5 times the amount, we got a great deal. Considering that same huge retailer would likely take a week or more to respond on site and not be just all out awesome is priceless. I would highly suggest that anyone on a budget or with deep pockets consider City Appliances before going to a huge retailer. The customer service goes above and beyond. read more

I've been a home owner since my 20's. I recently sold my home in CO and relocated to CA. The place I am renting did not have a washer/dryer and after spending a fortune to do two loads at the laundromat, I decided to look for a used washer. I went on Craigs List and found a few stores. City Appliances did not get the best reviews, but when I went to the shop yesterday the man who helped me was really lovely and helpful. And...yes for those who wrote nasty things...was fluent in English! My delivery was promised the next day and sure enough, Manuel called to say he would be about 15 minutes early, was that ok? SURE! We proceeded to have a wonderful conversation while he installed my W/D and he even gave me the name of a painter to call. He refused my tip and made sure things were working before he left.
