Absolutely horrible. Wrong prescription... doc was very new and didn't know what she was doing. Used my Medicare Advantage benefit to purchase glasses... I still had to pay over $300 on top of Medicare Advantage vision benefit of $300 for very basic glasses. The frames and glasses are the cheapest quality. I order from Zenni online for 1/5th as much, and their glasses are wonderful... puts Nationwide glasses to shame. They are too tight at the temples yet slide down my face. Poor lenses and frames look like Dollar store frames, but not as good. I shall NEVER, EVER RETURN AND WASTE MY MONEY EVER AGAIN. I haven't worn these low-quality, inferior glasses even once... so sad! read more

We had an appointment at 12:00 for the eye doctor. My mother does not drive so I was driving her and set everything up. She however was the one receiving texts to be there 15 min prior. By the time she let me know I could only get there by 12. I have never been to an eye doctor so strict about time. They refused to see us and made us reschedule. Even though I was there at 12! The doctor was not even there and there were NO other patients! So if he had stayed until 12 and gave us a grace period to our actual appointment time he could have seen us but he had already left. I know this because I saw him walk back in around 12:45. Guessing he was hungry... what doctor just leaves until his next appointment time? The whole staff had no customer service or consideration. Any where else gives you at least a 10-15 min grace period After appointment time!! We won't be going back there, and I made an appointment at Lenscrafters who said to just be there 5 min before. Waited an hour before the appointment to cancel my kids appointment. Which is understandable, in a way with what's going on! When she said she could get them in in mid October. I had to look at my calendar again, I waited over a whole month for this appointment, now you trying to push it out another month. I've had more than 1 bad experience here, this is my second time having to wait. In 2018 the kids had an appointment, and we waited an hour pass their appointment time. I asked what's going on and they told us we would be getting called. I waited another 30 mins and never was called, we got up a left. The staff are nice just seems to busy and overwhelmed. If you're ok with waiting and appointments being canceled the day of this is the place for you. read more

He thinks bullying and yelling at a grandmother that had a valid complaint is the correct way to address a client concern. Instead of being professional and trying to find a solution to assist the client he asked her to drop it. He then began to yell until I got involved. I am an operations manager of company that has more than 20 locations you do not treat people this way and my company does not have a 1.5 Yelp review rating. To achieve a 1.5 Yelp rating means you are going out of your way to be a poor establishment. Shout out to Jason W. And Crystal G. For being horrible to an elderly woman and children. I went to Nationwide Vision today for my eye exam and was extremely pleased with my appointment. Dr. Bywater was very pleasant and thorough during my exam. Jason helped me choose my frames and handled my checkout procedure. He was quite personable while maintaining his professionalism. This place was great up to the point where we received my wife's glasses. She didn't notice until we had already driven a good distance away, so we had to wait until we returned two days later. Upon our return we are told they're system is down and we give them our number to call when it's up again. A week later I call and they say their system is still down. Today I enter and ask if their system is down and no it's not. I ask why we haven't been called back. We're to busy. Shouldn't there be a backup plan if technology goes does. We've been following our backup plan. They must be extremely understaffed for such poor service. Backup plan, fail. I know I was a bit short tempered, but I feel for the staff. After going to the Nationwide Vision store in Maricopa for a number of years, today I had the worst experience ever. I am a veteran receiving VA care through TriWest Healthcare Alliance. I had a letter from TriWest for an appointment scheduled for 1:30 PM on June 8, 2019. I showed up at 1:15 PM and was told that my appointment was actually at 2:00 PM. Like yours, my time is valuable but I waited for the extra half hour and filled out redundant medical forms that I have to fill out each time I come here. Many of the questions have nothing to do with vision care and I hate to have my complete life medical history floating around on paper or stored in someone's computer, but I completed the forms anyway. I was asked for my VA card and then for the referral letter again. Four staff members stood around the desk examining these documents like monkeys who had never seen a light bulb. Finally, one kid in scrubs came back and told me because of my diabetes and diabetic myopathy and cataracts that they would need a referral. This discussion was in the waiting room in front of other patients just as I was signing an acknowledgment of your privacy policy. Frustrated at the incompetence, I left the office deciding to go somewhere else for my vision care despite all my records being at Nationwide Vision in Maricopa. Then minutes later, a lady called me saying that they had found the referral and asked if I wanted to come back. By then, I already had an hour of wait time and a 30-minute drive invested, so I came back. I had to wait until 3 PM for my 2 PM appointment. When I was finally called back to the treatment room, the same kid in scrubs apologized for the confusion and said he was still in training. Then he told me that he couldn't do the medical exams because of not having a referral. All he could do was the exam for glasses. I told him that the whole reason I got the referral from the VA is that I needed a comprehensive eye exam because of the medical conditions that he made the entire waiting room privy to. He went to get clarification and two more staff members came back to the waiting room, their mission was to educate me on coding and how if the code wasn't right they didn't get paid and last year, yada, yada. The bottom line is all they were willing to do was sell me glasses, nothing more. I can get that at WalMart. I left, having wasted almost two hours and getting nothing done. I am beyond frustrated. I don't know about the reviews on here for this place. Take them with a grain of salt. Brought in a pair of glasses that had a lens pop out and loose frame. They adjusted them for no charge. There was no hassle, no wait, no pushy upcharges or rude customer service. Although I did not make a purchase, sometimes you can judge a place by how they treat you when you aren't spending any money. So I just might consider returning when I need new specs. read more

This establishment is a mess and the staff is all over the place. When I walked in not one employee greeted me, including the manager, in fact they left me standing there with no direction on if I needed to sign in or wait. The doctor was also rude saying he didn't have time to do one of the examinations bc he needed to leave and rushed through everything with my 13 year old daughter (come to find out it was because corporate sent out an email an hour before stating all doctors needed to leave by 3:30 even though appointments were made weeks before.) I will never schedule an appointment here. My three children and I had over a 2 hour wait and terrible customer service. I ask the manager why are we waiting so long and he said because they squeezed in a couple of extra patients. The staff was unfriendly and cold to say the least. My visit today was a great experience. The office staff was friendly and easy to talk to and the doctor was very talkative during our time together and really made it enjoyable. I have always used an eye doctor from a private practice for my eye care. Now with my new job, I need to use Nationwide. I call the office in Maricopa and found I could get in quite quickly. The staff was friendly and answered all my questions. I decided to go back to contacts after about 25yrs. I would have to say the doctor was very patient and very detailed in explaining how multi-focal lenses work, and working with me in multiple appointments to ensure I had correct prescription and brand. I went in to this place to get glaasws for my daughters. I was charged 126.50 for a medical eye exam while my co pay was 10. they didnt except my medical insurance. if I needed a medical eye exam I would have went to the doctor where they accepted my insurance. I ended up paying over 400 for basic cheap frames. ive never paid that much in the last 10 years of my daughters getting glasses. your insurance benefits can be used bettrr somewhere else... uggh. to top it off I went in for a follow up visit early in the morning. as thebstaff trickled in no one greeted you with a good morning. you cant even take my money with a smile. take your money somewhere else!!!! read more

They sold me insurance leading me to believe that I would pay less for replacements. All come to find out my out of pocket costs are the same. One manager said he would refund my money for the insurance. The other said she would not. They were not friendly and gave attitude right from the beginning. They also argued with me about CMDP and tried to charge me even though the glasses are covered 100 percent by insurance. read more

Will never step foot in this unfriendly poor quality glasses vision store. I found higher quality without insurance at lower prices at sams club vision. You pay more at nationwide with the insurance discounts than at Sams Club with zero discounts. New employees worse service than before. Very unprofessional employees. Dr Mai gave me the most thorough eye exam I ever received in my life and found the answer to a problem I had for 2 years a specialist didn't see. I am 62 yrs old and treat everyone the way I want to be treated. I was treated excellently in this location for my second year now. The eye tests are modern equipment compared to other offices in the past I have visited. This office found the mistakes made by vision world made on my glasses that I was aware of! Customer service is terrible. Nobody greets you when you walk in the small office. Staff is extremely impatient and rude. After waiting 10 business days my glasses came in, but had the wrong prescription. The wrong numbers were documented when they did my eye exam. They claimed they'd rush my order and have the prescription fix. I paid for my eye exam and glasses in full. Still have yet to receive my glasses. The doctor is so rude & disrespectful, she almost makes you feel so uncomfortable & most definitely makes you feel dumb. Made an appointment for my daughter. The soonest one they had was almost a week out. When we showed up on the appointment day there were two other customers there. While we waited, my daughter picked out the glasses she wanted. Then we waited some more and some more and some more. After waiting for an hour past our appointment time I asked one of the employees just how much longer it would be. She couldn't answer me. She gave me some mealy-mouth blah blah about how sometimes patients took longer than anticipated because they didn't put conditions on their paperwork and the doctor didn't find out about them until they were in the exam room. Yeah, yeah. Whatever. Still doesn't explain why I'm waiting for an hour when there's only two other customers in the store. We left and went to Walmart. I'll submit the bill to my insurance for reimbursement since the insurance company is the one who decided these incompetents should be one of their providers. read more

I would give 0 stars if that was at all possible. This appointment was for my 7 year old daughter. She was so excited to get a new pair of glasses and both me and my husband with our daughter walked in happy as always until we got up to the counter. I did get a call 2 days ago saying that they could not get my daughter insurance acceptance and I said it was just made so maybe it might take a day but I have proof online so it shouldn't be a problem. Another day goes by I get a call confirming her appointment for the next day so here I am thinking that everything was found and everything is good. I get there today and up to the counter where there is a fat old man with an attitude sitting there. He asked why we were there and I said my daughter has an appointment, but I said her name, then he says what's her name? In my head I was like seriously? So I told him again, he hands me a piece of paper saying I still can't verify her insurance. So I simple asked did you call them to verify it? My husband right at that moment had just walked away to go look at all the glasses with our daughter and he snapped right back at me so rudely, "No I didn't, I could be on the phone with them for 25-30 mins verifying and I don't have time for that." I bit my tongue at that point even though I was highly offended by his reaction. I looked online at my account and showed him that yes she does have insurance and he snapped at me again! "It doesn't matter what you show me I need to print it out to show that you are eligible." Ok at this point I'm pissed, how dare you talk to me in such a rude manner when I have been more than cordial?! So I asked for the number for the insurance and he gave me such a hard time about it talking in terms that I in now way shape or form understood about HIS job and how to verify insurance. Finally I just looked online. I got a hold of the insurance and they even SPECIFICALLY told me that I should not be calling, the store should be calling and that she would let her supervisor know so that they can report it to the store that they are not verifying insurance. I had a little smile inside and said thank you. She also said can you please have the store call me because I need to speak with them, I told her her that the guy sitting here at the reception was the one that told me that he didn't have time to call you but I can have you talk to him right now on my phone if you like, and she said that was fine. They talk, he hangs up. He makes another call, looks at me and says it still doesn't matter because I am not able to print out your verification! Finally I snapped! I asked well what is it that you need exactly? He said that I can pay out of pocket for the appointment. Um no! Finally I said why is it that you couldn't have called me yesterday before her appointment so that we could have figured all this out? He snapped again! He said I did call you, and I said yes two days ago! Why didn't you call me yesterday? All he could keep saying was I did when he knows damn well that he didn't. Then the manager steps in and tries very little to calm the situation. I said that I even got a call yesterday verifying the appointment so why couldn't have someone said something then? Then that stupid fat man said yah you know what I could have called yesterday I could have even called this morning, I'm sorry. In the most sarcastic way possible. Finally I had had enough. He looked at his manager said something and walked away. The manager was once again trying very softly to "manage" the situation and said yes I will talk with him. Ok whatever that doesn't help my current situation. I told him that I was fine when I first walked in that he was the one who gave me attitude and that it was completely uncalled for. My husband knew that I was about to make a scene so I grabbed my arm and said let's just drive into Chandler to her original eye doctor. I made one more comment again because I saw that people were in the store as well that I would be writing a review on that rude old man receptionist and that we would never be coming back here. There are somethings in here that I didn't ad because I didn't want to make this a novel but DO NOT GO HERE. They obviously need someone who isn't a push over manager to run this place and a awesome receptionist. Went in for my yearly checkup so I could renew my contact prescription. They asked if I wanted to have my eyes dilated and I said yes. Upon checking out, I realized that they had forgotten to dilate my eyes. Jason had said that they could take care of it when I retuned for my follow- up after my new contacts trial. Went back for follow up. Mentioned right off that I needed to have my eyes dilated as it was overlooked at my checkup. Saw technician for a few more eye tests. I again asked to please dilate my eyes. She said the doctor would. Saw doctor, she retested my eyes as the right contact did not work out. She determined that I did not need a contact for distance after all. Just my usual contact for reading. All of a sudden, she was finished and was walking me out. You could argue that I should have said something, but at this point I had just had it with them. It is part of their job. While checking out with the nice friendly lady, I mentioned what had happened. She looked at my chart and said" I see why! Bad handwriting!. And was not color coded!" She showed me my chart. Granted the writing was bad, but I could read it! No offer to have them done. The staff is friendly, but unfortunately I felt that my concerns were not important. Next year, Nationwide in Chandler, AZ at Kyrene and Chandler Blvd will have me back again. They have always been Five Stars for me! read more

I had my first appointment on Fri 9-22-2017 and was pleasantly surprised to find the office was nice and the people working there were very pleasant and knowledgeable. I saw Dr. Vu who was very professional and answered all my questions while asking many questions of her own. I read the reviews in here and was a little intimidated by what others had to say but the worst part of the whole visit for me was the time it took. I was there for almost two hours. This was my first visit and truthfully, I have been to enough doctors in my lifetime to know you do not just walk in and out without a wait so the wait time for me was something I knew would happen. It was not all wait time either, my first exam took some time as there were questions to answer and four different machines used to test my eyes. There was a little wait time to see the Dr who again, was very professional and she took her time examining my eyes and asking questions and I had questions of my own that she answered. I then had to have my eyes dilated and so there was wait time for that to take effect and to go back in to the Dr to have her exam my eyes again with them dilated. Again questions asked and answered. Then to pick out frames and make my payment and check my insurance coverage. All in all, it was a lengthy process but they are my eyes and I was thankful for the time they took with me. I did not find the frames to be overpriced as others stated. There was a great selection of frames in all price ranges. I will be picking my glasses up in less than ten days and am excited to do so. So all in all, I had a really pleasant experience. My best advice is to not go without realizing you are not going to go in and come out in 15 to 20 min. be prepared to be there for awhile and plan on it. If you get out quickly than that is a bonus for you. read more
