I told the MA that i had lower back pain as well as pain shooting down my leg. When the PA came in he says "so i hear we are here for leg pain" i told him the extensive list of things i have tried in order to relieve some of the pain and then i had asked him if i needed to do anything different to prevent injuring myself further, in which he proceeds to say "nothing you do will make it worse" He then recommended an MRI. I made a follow up after my MRI was done. The interpretation was sent to my email so i had a chance to look it over and prepare questions. The Doctor came in and told me that there is nothing wrong with my back, no pinched nerves, so that the pain I'm feeling is not back related. I told him about the interpretation in which he proceeds to tell me "the interpretation results depend on the radiologist" and that he reviewed the images himself and saw nothing wrong. He told me he can refer me to the pain clinic potentially for injections but that he doesn't think I'm "at that point yet". He was more interested in why i am taking Seroquel then he was at the actual issue at hand. I followed up with a second orthopedic surgeon for a second opinion who went through the MRI with me and showed me that i do in fact have a pinched nerve as well as 2 protruding discs. The experience i had at this office was awful.

A broken bone and casting are very scary things to deal with when you're seven-years-old, but everyone explained very patiently what they were doing to help my son, and he calmed down and felt better. When he wasn't so stressed out, the healing could begin. Everyone from the woman on the phone making our appointment, to the assistants who got us situated in rooms, to the x-ray techs who took new pictures of the break each time, to those lucky souls who got to cut off the old casts (the loudest part, and my son's least favorite) were excellent. This was my first visit, and I came in dealing with significant finger, hand, wrist, and elbow pain. Dr. Wiater was extremely attentive and took the time to truly listen to my concerns. He provided an injection, ordered a nerve study, and took me off work for a few weeks so I could properly heal. Once carpal tunnel syndrome was confirmed, he worked closely with both me and my employer to create a gradual return-to-work plan with appropriate restrictions. My pain and symptoms were never ignored. His PA, Claire, is also wonderful--compassionate, attentive, and great to work with. I am still healing from the steroid injection and will be starting physical therapy soon, but I feel confident in my care every step of the way. I highly recommend Dr. Wiater and his team. I recommend everyone in need of shoulder surgery see Dr. Bartholomew, including my father who has also had two successful operations now. He came highly praised by my internal medicine doctor who's opinion I trust implicitly. The procedures were completed very quickly and I was sutured expertly. Both my shoulders are completely stable now and I've regained most strength and use of both of them with a better range of motion than I've ever had. So, as you can see, I felt a dire need for someone to help me. Dr. K was one of the kindest, professionals I have ever met. He really listened and together we agreed on a surgical plan. His office coordinated with me to get all the necessary prior tests completed. His staff is really on top of their game everyday. Every question was answered in a timely fashion. So I felt confident in the process and choice I made. The surgery day came and it did take longer than expected. But the care was never changed, he worked hard on my back to complete a fusion of the 4-5 area. The recovery as he had stated takes some time and a will to get better. It has now been six months and yes I am glad to have had the procedure. I still have a ways to go to reach a one year mark. I am confident I will continue to improve.
