The ER at St. Joseph Mercy in Pontiac is a masterclass in being understaffed and overwhelmed. The wait times are beyond frustrating -- you'll sit for hours watching people age in real time. And the wild part is, the nurses and doctors are actually great... when you finally see one. But that's where the good news ends. Because God forbid you get admitted. Once you hit that stage, the staff suddenly transforms every answer to room availability to "soon." In the St Mercy Joseph dictionary, "soon" is defined as "sometime between now and the next presidential administration." It feels like they dangle the promise of a room in front of you like the fisherman in the State Farm commercial. It's exhausting. It's disrespectful. And it's absolutely avoidable...by going anywhere else. Bottom line: If you need emergency care, skip this place. Drive, crawl, jog, horseback ride, Uber, teleport -- whatever it takes -- to any other hospital ER. Your time and your nerves will thank you.

Hinderliter sold me hearing aids (which didn't work) after only 1/2 hour quickie of a test. Yes, all is spic and span and smiling there - but: is that a priority? It costs S350 to make a good hearing aid - so you can calculate Hinderliter's profit margins! Do ask questions!!!

The office staff was very pleasant. I really appreciated that the new patient forms were quick and easy, since they auto fill the information that they have for you already. The nurse, Claudia, is a gem. She is patient and kind. Dr. Proctor was right on time and spent the perfect amount of time with me. He solved a problem in the office that other ENTs said needed to happen via surgery. He has some interesting technology that allows you to watch via monitor during the exam. That isn't something that I cared for, but I am sure other people would like it. A word to the wise, he is a popular specialist. You can expect a wait of 3-4 weeks for an appointment...it is worth it.

Upon arriving and checking in I had a conversation with the receptionist in regard to paperwork. I commented on something and was immediately and rudely corrected by the owner/office manager for using poor grammar. Apparently my slip up of saying me instead of I was a horrible mistake in this office! Gosh what was I thinking? A day of appointments and I was tired and used poor grammar. Public humiliation was the order if the day. I was assured that she would not be doing my hearing assesment. Michael was very professional during testing and seemed to be compensating for the earlier rude remark from the owner. At time of check out, the boss lady gets into the conversation again and has no clue what to charge for appointment and at one point says, "If we bill the insurance company and we don't get paid what do we do"? So even though I have insurance they accept and an additional discount I was charged $155! The receptionist tried to help but to no avail. The entire thing was amazingly unprofessional. If I acted this way with clients I would be out of business. Okay fine. I can bill for reimbursement. I just wanted out of there. Got home.....nope! No billing information on receipt for billing my insurance. I am pretty certain I will get no cooperation from her for what I need. Not that she would know. The only saving grace to this visit was Michael, and Bo the rescued puppy. However only if you think dogs belong in a medical setting. Please save yourself and do not go there. It took my wife a year to talk me into this test and she is thrilled that I finally went to be treated so poorly. Also checked with my wife, the grammar queen. Turns out my sentence structure was appropriate and some people think they know English and do not. This review is not about the insult but the attitude. I told her I understood she wanted me to get a new hearing aid, but I had some questions. She, still, didn't answer any of them. She said my warranty was up. I told her it was not, which is wasn't.
