The path to the waterfall is also paved with asphalt so it's a smooth walk up and great for strollers. There are two vault toilets at the parking lot, and a small picnic area near the entrance of the parking lot. This is an amazing waterfall. Water cascades down a columnar basalt face so it's particularly stunning. I've seen amazing columnar basalt formations (Devils Tower, Devils Postpile), but none with a water element. It's very memorable. I saw some people trying to scramble up the rocks to get to the top of the waterfall, but I'm not sure how safe that is. From satellite photos it looks like there's just forest up there anyways.

The ride there is a bit intense with many curves so I'd recommend to take a bag for those that may get car sick. I'll be coming back to Montana, just for this beauty!

They offer lessons for first timers in their pond which does not require a license or you can head down to the boulder river and enjoy some of the best fishing in the area (license required). They offer other activities such as a Jeep ride, river floating, campfire dinners, and games (volleyball, horseshoes, and roping). There is a hot tub to soak your worries away in your spare time and lots of places to sit to take the beautiful views in. You will not go hungry during your stay here! The food is homemade, fresh and prepared for cowboys and cowgirls! Enjoy meals such as steaks, pastas, potatoes, brisket, full chicken, fresh veggies, seafood, salmon (fresh!), burgers prepared over a campfire, full breakfast spread of pancakes, eggs, bacon, homemade breads, muffin and more. We brought snacks with us that we purchased in big timber and did not touch them once so leave those in big timber and bring your appetite as they do not disappoint! The best part of our stay was the staff. This is a family run operation and it shows by the level of service they provide. I haven't ever experienced something quite like this before. The level of passion, care and concern they have for each one of us was so amazing. They just want each guest to have the best time and live their life to the fullest for the week they are at their property. There are no TVs, radios, cell phones so this is a time to truly disconnect. You can choose to get a phone card which will work in the main lodge for emergencies. The staff for the summer of 2019 hit it out of the park which is why all but two of the families were repeat guests who keep coming year after year. We can't wait to return to Hawley mountain and can't speak highly enough about this magical piece of the world.

There are three different routes: hard, medium and easy, which make it fun to choose your own adventure. I've tried them all and I love the nice easy trail up to the top. You can even combine the medium and easy if you decide you want more of a challenge. All of them are short, not exceeding 3 miles. This is also the trail up to Mount badly. I would not recommend doing the hard trail up/down if you're summiting the mountain, although I've done it and lived to tell the tale. It gets busy, but the trail is never crowded and I always find parking. Love the bathroom at the trailhead!

The creek that runs at the start of the trail is beautiful and dogs are allowed off leash here so I may need to see about trying that out next time as well. This trail is very close to town so easy to get to if you're in need of a quick hike. There is a decent elevation gain as well so I really got a good workout in!!

One had to cancel us. Paintbrush Adventures called us back about 24 hours after we called and left a message. No problem there. We set up a ride for the 2 of us. We found the place with no problem. We were greeted by a lady and 3 teen aged girls who all went out on the ride with us. There were a few dozen horses in the corral that all looked good. Horses were quiet and calm. The ride was along the river and parallel to the road. The area was in a wooded lot. 30 acres MOL. Lots of dead trees. The river was a nice touch. We were disappointed when it was just trails in a dead wooded lot. Nothing terribly scenic. No hills, no mountain scenes. Not exactly the Montana experience we were expecting. Nothing like the pictures we saw here.

Our bachelorette crew of eight women showed up ready to float -- Spencer, our fearless captain, quickly informed us this was more "adventure" than "lazy river." Not only did Spencer make sure we paddled for our lives, he also had us carrying rafts up and down hills like we were training for the Raft Olympics. And when we weren't paddling or hauling, he was pulling double duty as a certified (in our minds) bird-watcher -- confidently identifying every feathered creature we saw, real or imagined. The views were gorgeous, the water was refreshing (read: freezing), and Spencer's calm, steady presence (even with eight women in one raft) made the trip unforgettable. We're pretty sure he secretly loved our vibes and the top-tier entertainment we provided along the way. 10/10 would raft again... after leg day, arm day, and maybe some cardio. Decided to wander up here, and am happy I did. Granted, the clouds were pretty low this morning, so I'm not sure I got the full effect, but it was still neat. The only thing that was concerning is there was one off leash dog that was a little scary -- it made it so I couldn't do the loop around; it was snarling and offputting. Close to town, easy to find and park at the trailhead. The trail is very steep for the first half…read moremile or so as you head to the top of the Rimrocks, but once you're up, it's all flat and some gorgeous scenery. There are two different loops you can take at the top, and it you do both, the total distance is 3 miles round-trip. The trail is easy to find and follow, great for novice hikers and kids as long as you have the endurance to get to the top. Take a picnic to the top! Lots of great spots to see below to town and out to the mountains. Some shaded areas too. Dogs on leashes are permitted. I did not see any restrooms, or picnic tables. There is also a disc golf course here too; I don't know anything about disc golf, but some of the baskets were in very challenging spots!

Once you get on the plateau it's a very easy walk from there back to the bottom. Some incredible views with a very nice breeze blowing. It was 100° when we went but still very pleasant due to the low humidity and the cost of breeze. Not a busy trail, we only encountered a few people when we were there. Be careful with small children because there are many drop off points. We really enjoyed it.
