I've always enjoyed shopping here. The prices are a tad higher but the selection is much more unique and different than King Soopers or the other large grocery stores. I love the mall feel and the people are always really nice. It's where I go to get really good goats milk based shower soaps. Bring your own bags. No plastic bags here. read more

They have sold out. Organic healthy food is only for the wealthy now. They took advantage of Covid price increases and are gouging. No more can I afford to shop here, and I've been shopping them for almost 40 years. Whole Paycheck has better prices now. What a shame. Now that they're a nationwide chain they're all about profit. They're getting rich off the store that a health-minded woman started in order to help people eat well. Too bad. Many people won't be able to afford to eat organic. But what do they care? The staff here are all condescending and rude as well as slow moving and incompetent. There's always unnoticed spoiled food, in an incredibly small store. Staff is always in your way and yet clueless when you ask a question. I dread that this is the closest grocery store on my commute. I wish desperately for it to be Trader Joe's but it's the opposite, with unfriendly staff and ridiculous prices for pretentious products. Zero Stars. read more

I'm in this store once or twice a week on average for lunch or snack items and occasionally for normal household purchases. Until a recent move, I most often did my household grocery shopping at another Natural Grocers store that is larger and didn't need to rely on this location other than having items could be assembled into lunches and snacks at work. They do have prepared items such as sandwiches, salads, and such made from quality ingredients and which are not cheap: four bucks or more for a turkey sandwich on handmade artisan bread with aged cheddar. They ARE good but hardly economical. Likely due to the small size of this particular location, there has been occasional shortages of inventory, usually with fresh produce (for example, apples, oranges, or pre-packaged baby carrots.) You can also find household goods, cleaning supplies, and other assorted sundries for babies and pets. If you can accept a smaller variety this could be a one-stop grocery shopping option. If you have dietary restrictions (i.e., gluten-, dairy-, nut-free, et al), this is the place to go should you want to avoid spending an entire paycheck on common alternative products. If you fall into this category--whether involuntarily or otherwise--then you know exactly what I mean... On the rare occasion where an issue with product quality (such as stale chips) has occurred, it was handled quickly with no drama. The store is always clean and well-kept. The parking lot is shared with a few other businesses but has never been an issue. That said, I've never been here at prime grocery shopping hours. As with all Natural Grocers that I've been to, there is a massive selection of supplements. We're talking a vast, almost mind-numbing, array of vitamins, minerals, fish/seed oils, and herbal extracts. As for service, you will have the good, the bad, and the ugly (and the indifferent, and syrupy sweet, etc., etc.) as with every single other business in existence. And, yes, their return system IS unquestionably archaic and inconvenient, especially if you are an infrequent customer. But as a regular customer for the past few years, I gladly accept the idiosyncrasies (don't forget your reusable bags if you don't want to carry your groceries in re-purposed cardboard boxes...) to support a local business that is making every effort to offer better alternatives to household staples at reasonable prices. One of my favorite things about the Natural Grocers chain is that you can count on them to have a wide variety of Colorado-sourced products. Whether cherries, apples, honey, or even prepackaged treats and snacks like dark chocolate, it's good to know there's a reliable way of keeping money in a local economy loop and do that at prices that are sustainable for most people. read more

Schlubbing around on South Wadsworth, you never expect this fantastic grocery store to be there for you... but it always is. Let's face it--it's a weird layout here. You have to labyrinth through aisles of vitamins and supplements (at great prices!!) before you get to the other maze of fresh produce, groceries, bulk goods, and frozen foods. I usually end up checking out all the aisles, blaming it on the confusing layout (but really, I like to check out all the aisles...) LOVE the spice and bulk sections, both in the fridge and on the normal shelves. Incredible prices on some fantastic groceries. If I need weird, alternative flours, grains, tea, spices, bulk chocolate--this is the spot. The people who work here are always happy to help you find whatever you're looking for, too. In general, the prices here are FAR better than Whole Foods, a little more spendy than Sprouts, but it's pretty much *all* organic here. For what you're getting, ol' Vitamin Cottage is reasonable. Plus, I like supporting a natural grocer in the middle of junk food territory. Go, kale! read more

I love this place! Prices seem reasonable (although I am not really a price shopper - I go because it close to my job) but it's the staff that make this place stand out to me. It seems like your small neighborhood grocer - every time I am there the cashiers are super friendly and there always seems to be a "regular" there that they are chatting with. Good selection of vitamins, oils, and natural soaps and shampoos. I wish there was more grab it and go lunch stuff here but the space is surprisingly big. Definitely go in and give this place as shot. read more

This is the worst Natural Grocers I've ever been to. They have the worst customer service of any store I've set foot in. They do not value customers and they take ENTIRELY too long to check anyone out. Just today, the checker had a line of at least 3 people, but he just continued to have a conversation with the customer after she'd been rung out, and then gave me attitude since he could clearly see I was angry at him for wasting my time. Time before that, myself and another customer had to go find the checker and convince them to ring us out... This place deserves to be shut down. Do not shop here. read more

A small store with a lot of vitamins and other supplement stuff. It sells all natural food stuffs. I'll admit, I'll have to stick to my larger grocery store, but the chocolate milk they sell here is all natural and I loved it. The meats here are all natural, which is nice, but I don't eat buffaloe. The selection of goods is a bit small, but they do well for individuals looking for supplements, vitams, and what not. I was very happy to see that they sell all natural dog food. Some of the dog food is made up entirely of meat, which a dog should be eating. It's quite possibly the only place that I know of that sells such a dog food, and I hope they continue to do so! read more

Full disclosure: I am normally not an organic food buyer. Simply because I'm a lady on a budget, I've often written off organic food as an expense that I unfortunately had to forgo. I wandered into this place while checking out my new neighborhood and WOW was I impressed! There were so many great fresh and frozen food options there and they ALL were nominally more expensive than a big food chain's prices and the "feel good" boost from buying these items ultimately erased any sticker shock. I'm a person on a tight budget, so there was no way I was going to get anything that was outlandishly expensive, and honestly, i saw little to none of that kind of inventory. The dried goods/grains section was awesome, their bath and body section was more than adequately stocked and the staff there was super helpful. Even the frozen foods section seemed to cover all the bases I was looking for, which is saying something since it's such a compact store! Parking is easy and out front and getting in and out is a breeze. My only knock was the produce section was small - that being said, the place is SO chalk full of other awesomeness, I'm willing to just get my produce elsewhere. Horrible experience, I bought a pre workout powder and saw its content after purchase and realized I got the wrong one. I tried to return it within the 24 hours I bought it unopened, and because it was a sale item their policy is no refunds, or exchanges. I asked to speak with the store manager and he said the same thing even if it was still sealed and less then a day I purchased it they still won't give you store credit or your money back! These stores have no principals or ethics in putting customers first or doing what's right! I recommend you don't shop at the store or buy anything on sale. Natural Grocers/Vitamin Cottage is my go-to grocery store. I spend far more time and money with them than at all the others combined. I do that for two reasons: 1) Healthy food, including produce that is ONLY organic 2) Exceptionally good prices, even when compared to the big corporate chains They beat every other grocery store hands down on those two counts. This review is specifically for this NG/VC, because the people here are so friendly, the selection is larger than at some other stores and the produce is always in excellent shape. I so appreciate having what feels like a hometown grocery store right down the block from where I work so I can pick up a few things for dinner on the way home. It's also something like having a village market, where you go every day just to pick up fresh vegetables and fruit. read more

I come to natural grocers to get herbs and vitamins. I have been to this one twice. There is terrible customer service. Both times, no one knew where a specific item was in the store (fairly common items). This time, it took 10 minutes to check out. Generally NOT a big deal but my cashier (Mariza) spent the whole time talking to the customer in front of me (even after he checked out), did not greet or acknowledge me, etc. Also, another cashier checked out 5 other customers in the time. It was a rude experience to say the least. I should just start ordering what I need from Amazon. If you want to be treated as a person do NOT come to this store. I won't again. read more

This is a surprisingly good organic grocery store, hiding behind a vitamin store. I'm not sure why anyone needs that many vitamins, but am pleased with the food selection. It's actually reasonably priced, all things considered. They have things I didn't even know could be organic-- like brown sugar! I still prefer Sunflower for my big grocery shopping trips, but this place is nice when you are like me and frequently forget one critical ingredient when you do your regular shopping. And it would be Mecca if you were a health food hippie, but I don't quite fall into that category, at least not yet. read more

This is one of the worst NaturalGrocers in the state. The customer service is always subpar, and the products they carry are very limited in comparison to their other stores. I purchased a multivitamin from the store on Colorado and Evans - my regular store where they know me by name - I lost the receipt within a days time and try to return it to the store on Wadsworth. The return system at NaturalGrocers's so archaic they actually have you fill out the return paper, there are no ways of tracking purchases, and apparently since they were going to owe me $16 back the manager said "well that's too much I'm going to have to ask you to go back to the other store". Pretty poor service if you ask me, perhaps that's why the store so slow, understocked, and on the verge of closing read more

I can't say enough good things about this store during quarantine. They have an employee who is wiping down all carts and baskets, so you never have to wonder if you're safe to touch them. They put up plastic shields for their employees. They have the essentials. Love it. read more

It depends on if you know what you need and who you talk to. Most of the time I can get thing on my own and I never need any help. Other times, I've asked for help and have received such horrid service that I've asked for a mgr right away and complained. It's a hit and miss on the store on what they have in stock and such. They just remodeled so it is nicer and bigger which I do like. I'm hoping with the remodel they remodel the staff also. read more

I have had normal, decent experiences here but the latest incident needs to be noted. I bought about 1/3 of a pound of dark cherries. When I looked at my receipt when I got home I had been charged a not-by-the-pound price of a straight $5.99. I called the store to complain about this and was told that the clerk had charged me a package price and I could bring it back. Now there are not bunches of N.G.s around that I can just drive back by. I was kind of hoping they could take my name and refund my money the next time I was in the area. No. Not happening. So I had to save the damn handful of cherries until I could schlep back to the store. I was then hoping, that in a showing of good grace, they would give me the damn things for free ($2.00 worth) for the time, aggravation, and gas it took to make a special trip back (it was the principal of thing at that point. Don't you just get tired of dumb mistakes that aren't your fault but you have to pay for?) No. Not happening. They dutifully had me re-input my card information, weigh the dumb cherries, refund the difference, about $4, and fill out a stupid refund slip and send me on my unhappy way. I even suggested that they could kindly not charge for the stupid things and they said that was not possible. Really? Really? So dumb. Might try another store, since nothing is that close anyway. *Sighs* Dumb! read more

My mom is 90 and has been trading since it opened at the vitamin cottage. She bought an aromatherapy diffuser which stopped working second day. Because she had no box the sales person there, initial S, told her she couldn't get a refund. What a shame after 20 years of trading there every week. Shameful to not stand behind their products.
