I will not be shopping here anymore. It's difficult to shop around OKC on a vegan diet and even though Natural Grocers is expensive, I was willing to pay more, until today. The Norman location was advertising a 25% off sale and I drove down out of my way from OKC to stock up on groceries. The NW OKC store is also out of the way for me, so I usually go to Norman once a month to stock up. I've been an {N}Power member for many years and downloaded the app when it first came out. I was told that the 25% coupon was in the app, but it wasn't showing up in mine, even though Norman is my preferred store. Despite deleting and reinstalling the app multiple times and changing preferred stores back and forth, it didn't work. The employees didn't know what to say, except that other people had the problem too. So, why isn't there a way to apply 25% off at the register, at least for the advertised event? One worker told me to call customer service and that I *might* get a gift card. I'm sorry, a gift card for a future purchase (that may take weeks to come) is not 25% off my purchase today. That is false advertising. Instead of stocking up on a cart full of groceries, I cut my losses and only got a few items, so my long drive wasn't a complete waste. I do appreciate the cashier who gave me $5 off, but that wasn't close to 25% off and didn't make up for the fact that I need groceries right now. Times are tough with inflation and the price of everything continues to climb. I will no longer be shopping at this Natural Grocers location and I'll probably stick to Whole Foods for a bigger selection and better customer service. read more

A great place in Norman to shop for groceries that are a tad bit healthier than the norm, you're able to get in and out rather quickly, which I love! The staff is really friendly and helpful, the store is usually well-maintained along with good lighting. The product was a bit difficult to find and a bit pricey, but the dependable stock made my trip successful.

You wouldn't think of a trip to the grocery store as a fun outing, but you can find me browsing the aisles of Natural Grocers on most weekends. They have a great selection of vitamins, organic foods and natural products. The produce is always fresh and beautiful-looking. Wonderful selection of essential oils and other health & beauty items. The staff is knowledgable about the products they sell and they are always so helpful. Bring your own reusable shopping bags or you can carry items out in one of the boxes they recycle located at the end of the register. The don't use any paper or plastic bags for checkout. This is the only place in Norman where I've been able to find raw dog food - I feed my dogs a mix of this and grain-free kibble. As most organic grocery stores, the prices may be a little higher than you're used to paying if you shop at places like Target and Walmart, but for me it's worth it. read more

I really enjoy going in to Natural Grocers. All of the staff are helpful and nice. During COVID-19, they are wearing mask, which tells me there care for others. If they don't have a products or don't have the information you are looking for, they try to figure out how they can get it or try to find a product close to what you are looking for... I love the selection of soaps here, as well as the (tasty and reasonably priced) organic fruits and veggies here. You'll find better buys on vitamins and minerals online, though. Just sayin'. I'm reviewing the stores I've visited in Norman, and OKC, OK, though I'm from CT. They're trying to promote health, but only get it half correct, are a bit nerdy, and their staff seems overworked and too busy answering phones to focus on getting people through the cash lanes. Cashiers are often doing multiple tasking instead of focusing on customers with the product area being cluttered by tubs of whatever as they are being labeled. I enquired about a product a few years ago, and the clerk said he'd ring me when it was in, but never did. This has happened more than once since I've visited many times with no response on getting certain products they don't have. There is an initial concern from them, but no real follow up. So I can't imagine why they seem to tout "world class service" when they don't deliver. Their hiring practices don't seem very good, and I have a friend, who was't hired, who the interviewer asked "what does world class service mean to you?" Interestingly, that interviewer had never followed up on an enquiry my friend had made a few years back, and obviously didn't know what "world class service" meant. The irony. Their application process seems skewed to their promotion of vitamins. They ask about personal eating habits like vegetarian or vegan, which leads me to believe they are weeding out those who aren't likely to promote animal products they sell. This is a company with an agenda. They often push unhealthy, unsustainable animal products proven to promote atherosclerosis. Sure, there is no danger of accidentally getting a conventional apple because they are all organic produce, and their prices can be very good, but at the expense of the employee, and supporting industries of animal abuse. There really are no great grocery markets these days, its just catch as catch can. read more

My wife and I have been shopping here for a few years now. Well, her moreso than I. This is a good little grocery store with a wide selection of food, vitamins, soaps, essential oils, and other health nut stuff. They also don't like it when you say, "It smells like hippies in here." Obviously I was joking, but the staff was not amused. Other than that instance, half of the staff seems to be incompetent, so I suggest customers look for someone who knows what they're doing or talking about when asking about vitamins/supplements. I go here mainly for the meats, eggs, fruits, veggies, and the reverse osmosis water machine. It's a bit pricey, though the quality has always been top notch. read more

Can I please give ten stars?! Natural Grocers is my favorite place on earth. It's kind of like Whole Foods, but better and here's why. 1. Their quality standards. All meat is grass fed and all dairy is pasture raised. So you can literally go pick whatever you want out of the dairy case and know it's good for you. 2. They have pre-packaged bulk items of everything that are often cheaper than the bulk bins you scoop yourself at other stores. 3. They have amazing sales, carry a lot of hard to find items (like Tessamaes and Sir Kensingtons) for up to a dollar cheaper than other places, if not more. 4. The staff is so friendly and small, so you see the same faces. It feels like going to a farmers market. I guess I just feel like my money does a little more good here, than at the giant WFM. When I die, I want to be buried here. read more

I say this place is only A-OK because I can't buy everything that I need in one shot. Before Sprouts moved into Norman, this was my go to place for specialty stuff. The staff is super nice and helpful. Clumsy me set some items on top of a shelf, and it knocked a glass jar to the ground. I offered to help clean it up and pay for it, but the gentleman at the cash registered said not to worry. Man, I'm a clutz! I feel that their produce selection is limited, but they do have a few things that set them apart. For one, I am way into the Good Karma Flaxmilk. It tastes exactly like Silk Almond or soy milk! They also have some really good varieties of vegetarian frozen burritos that taste amazing. I haven't been able to find the same kinds at Sprouts. The variety of bottled water is also pretty good too. read more

This is a fantastic grocery store in central Norman that carries more organic and specialized products. Every time I've been, the store is clean and there are plenty of employees willing to help. It's organized well, which is key, as NG has a myriad of vitamins, supplements, health, body and other products. Be sure to bring your own grocery bags, as they don't provide any. I have been offered a box before, but that's it. Although, in this day and age, everyone should have their own grocery bags anyway. Great quality meat, but the prices are higher than your local mega-mart (to quote Alton Brown). The reason the prices are higher is the meat is of much better quality, and better for you. Better stuff for your body should cost more, because it costs more to produce and get to the shelves. They have a great bulk item section as well. I see a couple of Yelpers mentioned parking, but I've not had an issue. There is a small lot in front of the store, then diagonal parking on the side. I've found it to be more than enough, and the store is easy in and out as well. Highly recommended. read more

Natural Grocers is my number one grocery store. The store is small and convenient, not too large, but large enough to have a decent variety. They aren't 100% local, but they do buy from local farmers, and their prices are better than any other chain grocery store in Norman. They have all organic produce, and they don't carry anything with corn syrup or preservatives, which is a welcome concept in Oklahoma. I have yet to scrutinize this claim, but so far it seems like they're not fibbing. With a great selection of vitamins and supplements, as well as natural beauty/body products, Natural Grocers has established itself as Norman's best natural goods store. They have a good amount of bulk foods and their drink cases are filled with some delightful juices, kombucha and natural drinks. I was looking for something my doctor recommended and had never heard of before. The gentleman in the area helped me out big time. Several employees there can really get you the information you need. No, not everyone who works there is an expert in the nutrition field, but there's always someone in the store who is. And their produce section has recently expanded and they're carrying an amazing selection. What more could you need? And, the company screens every item that comes into their stores. No GMOs, and in all of the items with animal by-products the animals have been raised cruelty free. And, to top it off, I've compared prices and Natural Grocers is cheaper than both Sprouts and Whole Foods. Like I said -- best store in the world. read more

It might surprise you, but Norman has 3-4 "health food" stores. Natural Grocers is closest to me, and until recently, it suffered from the same thing every other "health food" store did -- prices that were too high. Imagine my surprise today finding what they called "hotline" specials with prices that were not only competitive with other health food stores, they compete with the big boys. To wit, I bought a big container of hummus for $2.49 and a pack of fresh salami for $3.99 -- competitive. Truth be told, I came to Natural Grocers for some alternative medicine. Their selection compares with Dodson's, and the prices beat it. The vibe of the packaged foods section reminds me a ton of Whole Foods while the fresh and frozen foods section reminded me of The Earth. It's like Whole Foods / The Earth had a business baby. Last note: I was asked how I was doing, if I needed help four times. That's awesome for most folks. Not me. I'll ask if I need help and otherwise prefer to be left alone. However, exuberant customer service will always win out over crappy service, right? read more

Understand that when you buy quality food at true free-market prices, it will cost more. This is true for any commodity of higher quality. Over a generation, people have been more or less trained by television to walk into a big box store and buy lower quality food. At Natural Grocers, tomatoes smell like tomatoes. They clean the store. The green veggies smell wonderful and are a joy to prep and cook. Because you can see, smell, taste, and feel the difference compared to Walmart and Target. Alice Waters and Gordon Ramsay influenced me to eat fresh higher quality food. As a foodie, I am a demanding customer. On the packaged food, an example of the quality is in their German style bratwurst. I read the ingredients. Yes, that was the real thing. I have made them in my kitchen. Whereas Walmart bratwurst is missing most of the ingredients to morally call it bratwurst. Natural Grocers has one of the few large spice aisles in the Oklahoma City metro area. And, they are the first store in Norman where I spotted crème fraîche. I was surprised to walk around and spot the only large collection of Tom's non-flouride toothepaste I have seen ramaining in the metro. Keep up the good work, and still they have the largest shallots box around. 20130909 update: Say it isn't so! I went to get fennel, which is awesome that they have it, and saw the shallot box... The shallots... They are too small to use! Whoever received them should have sent them back! If the quality of the product ( like size ) renders it unfit for use, you don't sell it. A good place to find vegetarian food. However, the prices are high. Isn't it every where? I do like that the staff is friendly and helpful. I love Natural Grocers! I used to live in Boulder, CO and frequented the one there. I'm so happy they've moved into my old hometown so I can shop there while visiting family. They have pretty good prices (especially when there are sales) on a wide selection of natural foods, including lots of vegan products. I even found a couple of vegan products that I haven't found in San Diego (gasp!) I hope this store does as well here as it does in Boulder, it's a wonderful addition to Norman. I have my Saturday ritual that I am sure my stalkers have caught onto through my check-ins (and I am sure they have pegged me as granola, which is not completely false): yoga at YogaLife and then a beeline across Thompson to get some goodies for the week at Natural Grocers. I love Natural Grocers because I personally enjoy a smaller shop that is easy to navigate with a finite amount of products to choose from. That is not to say that there are slim pickings here. They have a lot of brands that other stores with natural and organic options do not carry, and often times the ones they both carry are actually at a better price here. It's certainly not cheap and some of it can fall into pricey, but I pick and choose my "treats" so I'm not spending too much or throwing out things I never eat. Organic and/or natural sandwich meats and cheeses, eggs, produce, sodas, juices, dairy, soy, toiletries, Gin Gins (a great chewy ginger candy option for those with stomach issues), chocolates, special diet options, and more, are all excellent reasons to come to Natural Grocers. This Thanksgiving we reserved an organic free-range turkey from here and while it was more expensive than a Butterball, we can never go back. Thanksgiving has never been so heavenly. So to make a long review a tad shorter, I know we don't have Whole Foods in Norman, and I know we have some other options, but Natural Grocers still has my heart. If you are a fan of natural/organic products or want to get into them, this is a good place to get your fix. read more

For a vegan with celiac and a soy allergy, they have the most options in town. Cardboard boxes are available for when I forget my reusable tote. This is important because they don't have plastic baggies. I like the fact that they don't have those little plastic bags for your groceries because I don't want to see those filling our landfills. I shop at Natural Grocers a bunch. Nothing has any artificial colors, flavors, or sweeteners. All produce organic. The staff is very nice, knowledgeable, and attentive. If you are waiting in line to check out, they will call on the intercom for another cashier so you don't have to wait. Their prices are better than Whole Foods and Sprouts! They are able to keep costs down by building with recycled materials, using low-energy motion detecting lighting, and practically never advertising on TV or radio. read more

I use all OKC locations because of traveling. I don't like that they all manage their inventory pretty poorly. They're all out of something I'm after, every time I go in. This location is on a very busy street, and has a very poorly designed parking lot. They have so much business when I've been. You can hardly enter and leave the lot. This is the 2nd location in OKC I've been to that has horrible filtered water! You'd be better off drinking the tap water! If you need filtered, go to the Culligan stand in any Walmart. I have yet to get bad water there. These clowns need to learn how to change their filters. read more

I really am glad Oklahoma has this store. Better prices on healthy options. Great Produce. I wish they would open more around the state, especially up in the Northern section of Oklahoma City as the Whole Foods up that way is soooo much more expensive. I actually drive all the way from by Quail Springs Mall, but my friends don't think its worth it, so they are still paying the higher prices! My only complaint is that the meat is higher than the Health Food Center on I240 and Penn., I wish they would get more competitive on that. They also sell a product called Hail Mary, Gluten Free Tarts and some are made with Agave, Awesome! Dodson's might lose some customers because Natural Grocers, located on 1918 West Main Street, is much closer for health food consumers on the southeast side of Norman, who don't want to make the trek up to 36th Street and Robinson. Natural Grocers has more products to offer like Pomi that other stores in Norman don't have, but are found at bigger health food chains such as Whole Foods. this is the least expensive health food store in norman. i love their veggies so fresh. the only thing that would improve my experience would be if they quit selling dead animals. i just need to but fish for my cat and theirs is her fav. the store smells good and is colorful.( sprouts store stinks o dead animals) i amrelieved the dead animals section is small in natural grocers. they are gay friendly. i love the staff there. its my favoritestore in norman. there is a big variety of foods for the glutenfree vegan with food allergies. i never get bored with my food thanks to natural grocer. they are always getting new things into eat for humans and animals. rock on natural grocers! read more
