I never been to the cafe when it was owned by Team Long, but we decided to give this a try after they had a bunch of flyers and samples this week and today. What caught our eye was you can get a healthy meal for $5 plus tax. That's pretty good! They had samples of their smoothies: - a chocolate peanut butter smoothie on Thursday - a kale banana pineapple with whey protein today - both were delicious! For our meals today, we tried the rice bowls: - chicken with mixed veggies, jasmine rice, and Thai peanut sauce - shrimp with broccoli, jasmine rice, and teriyaki sauce - steak with broccoli, sliced red potatoes and teriyaki sauce The bowls are deceivingly small looking, but after spreading it on a full sized plate when we got home, it was a good portioned meal. I remember the lady at the counter telling me that it comes with 1 cup of rice, which is the portion recommended by the gym trainers. I don't know how many ounces the other ingredients are, but she said you get a lot since they pack the food really good inside the bowls. I thought the meals were good and filling. The sauces really help give the dishes their flavors. I didn't like how the rice was cooked - it was too mushy like they used too much water in the cooking process. ****** (UPDATE 1/24/2017: got a pair of bowls to go and I'm happy to report they took my suggestion and the jasmine rice is 100% better!!!) ****** After my meal, I called them because I forgot the phone number for texting orders. The lady who answered asked me what I thought about the meals and I gave her my honest opinion and suggestions - how to cook the rice since jasmine rice is cooked differently than other rices; and maybe they may want to tell customers that the Thai peanut sauce is on the spicy side (which I love, but some folks may not). Overall, we liked the meals and would definitely order from them again. For $5 you can't beat what you get. Also, if you call ahead or text your order, then you get $0.50 off! I can't wait to try a whole serving of their smoothies! Looks like they have great combos! :)

Never had any problems with anyone in the store. They usually have handouts for things I have questions about and at times they have some samples to give you on certain items. They are a long standing business in the mall.

The spice refill area is not only aesthetic, but also actually quite easy to take advantage of (for a while I avoided it bc I thought it'd be complicated and require weighing things and what not- which you can do- but also you can just fill a bag and be on your way :) plus they keep the spices in glass jars! Yay! Every staff member I've interacted with has been incredibly nice and super helpful! Everyone who works there is truly so sweet!! There are so many amazing goodies and full meals in the grab-and-go section too! I have had a few issues recently with food having already gone bad once I've brought it home including some meat that already smelled rancid even before the best by date and a grab-and-go meal that had mold growing in it, so just try your best to check how things look as you're placing them in your cart (and most of the time, whoever has checked me out has been on top of checking the quality of my items for me too)- most things in Native Sun are fresh goods, so it's understandable that that type of thing can happen. And when I brought in the moldy item, they were super accommodating with letting me replace it, even without my receipt! Super appreciative that they care about their customers, the local community, and have just created such a lovely shopping environment that it actually makes grocery shopping enjoyable :)

Not in a bad way, but in that unmistakable health-food-store aroma that tells you there are herbs, oils, supplements, organic everything, and probably someone blending wheatgrass in the back with spiritual conviction. I walked in thinking I'd grab a couple of health bars or maybe a smoothie, and suddenly I found myself in what felt like a live-action documentary about modern hippie culture. Real hippies. I'm talking long dreads, natural fabrics, calm serene smiles, and an energy that says they own a crystal collection and know each crystal by name. The vibe inside was amazing. Everyone looked like they were on their own personal wellness quest, floating around the aisles with purpose, shopping carts full of things I didn't even know existed. I felt like I needed to level up spiritually just to stand near the kombucha section. And the café area had this cozy, earthy coolness to it that almost convinced me to sit down and contemplate the meaning of life over a smoothie bowl. The whole experience was wild in the best possible way. Grassroots Natural Market wasn't just a store that day. It was a full-on immersion into the hippie heart of Jacksonville, and honestly, it was fabulous.
