After my appointment with Jessica--who has always been fantastic--I opened the door of the exam room and the owner was standing there blocking my way, she said flatly and rudely "thanks for leaving us a 3 star review" I was taken back because it was not only rude and unprofessional but I didn't expect to be ambushed while at the dr's. Jessica rushed from the room, and the owner closed the door behind her as she walked in blocking me from leaving the room and began criticizing me for leaving it. Throughout the conversation (wasn't much of a conversation as she wouldn't allow me to speak and she blocked me from leaving the room)I felt I was not given an opportunity to explain my perspective, as she repeatedly spoke over me whenever I tried to respond. She explained how much she and her staff do for their patients, including caring for cancer patients, and said that I didn't know everything they do throughout the day. I appreciate and respect the work healthcare providers do, and I have no doubt they help many people. However, none of that changes my personal experience as a patient. My original review acknowledged that I received good care while also pointing out a recurring issue with wait times. In my five visits, I was seen approximately 15-30 minutes after my scheduled appointment every time. I understand that delays happen and that doctors sometimes need to spend extra time with patients. My point was simply that patients' time is valuable as well, and consistent delays are worth mentioning in an honest review. When I told the owner that, because of our interaction, I would not be returning to the practice, her response was simply, "Good." Jessica continues to be an excellent provider. She is knowledgeable, personable, and has always treated me with kindness and professionalism. Unfortunately, my interaction with the owner overshadowed those positive experiences. I believe patients should be able to leave respectful, honest feedback--both positive and constructive--without feeling confronted or made to feel guilty for sharing their experience. For reference, here is my original review: "I've received great care from the staff when I've been seen. Background: after a long day of work, I looked for a last minute massage. I intended to pay for one hour and was quoted $80. Historically, I tip my therapist for good service and a pleasant experience. When I arrived, I was told they had extra time, so I agreed to a 90 min massage for $120. This was well above my budget for the day. I agreed because really needed a massage since I had not had one in over 6 months, was tight and in pain. Afterwards, I was pleased with the service. I paid the $120 and thanked her asked to me to leave a good google review to support the business. I said yes and intended to go back. However, the masseuse's attitude changed to being rude when she saw that I had not left a tip. She quick pointed at the signed recipe, demanding "leave tip here!" I said, " I am sorry, but not today. I will leave a double tip next time because I paid a lot of money today, $120." She than proceeded to reprimand me for not leaving a tip say, " NOOOO, NOOO next time no, NOW leave tip here--look... (she showed me another receipt) LOOK thirty dollar tip here...YOU tip here today to! No next time" Well she fired me up fast...I was pissed (I do not play those kinds of manipulation games nor will allow anyone to demand that I give my money to them. I paid the stated cost $120. I was honest. Her attitude towards me made me feel as if I had stolen from her, which is wrong of any an establishment to do to a patron! That is manipulation and I will not stand for).Tips are optional- NOT a right. Tips are the customer's prerogative, not an opportunity to demand from a person. She has no idea of my financial challenges, and just because I decided to get a massage at Healthy Massage Spa did not give her the right to patronizing nor demand that I give her more of my money. If you are ok with an establishment demand and expecting a tip--then mentally be prepared to pay an extra $30 above the service fee to be seen here. If you are not ok with it, then avoid this establishment. I will not be returning, nor recommend it. P.S. I work in healthcare. I see patients all day and do work others have said is gross and they would never do. I do not get tips for my service- I get paid my the hour and am happy with it. I would never expect--let alone demand a tip from a client. That kind of behavior is disgusting and should not be tolerated!
