Daniel, who owns and operates Yonder Sky, picked us up at our hotel and we traveled with 5 others (total of 7 passengers) in a comfortable Mercedes van. Our first rest stop was 1 hour away, where he offered us delicious breakfast pastries and a surprisingly broad selection of beverages! We then traveled another hour to Mt. Rainier (all of this time flew by because of the great conversations we were having). Daniel took us to several different spots, including many waterfalls and into the old growth forest with a brief, guided walk. Our stop at Paradise was flexible, we could either follow him and hike to Myrtle Falls and get a closer view of Mt. Rainier, or spend the time however we liked. We ate a picnic-style lunch (chicken, noodle, salad, etc.) at a table in the park, which was great as well. Daniel made sure we were hydrated and really enjoying the trip. After a couple more stops, we headed back towards Seattle and he offered to drop us off at the hotels or wherever else in the area we preferred to continue our trip. This tour was wonderful and definitely one of the highlights during our trip. Daniel was kind, accommodating, and knowledgeable. Everything felt comfortable, like going on a family trip or trip with friends rather than a tour. If you are thinking of booking a day tour, going with Yonder Sky is the way to go. I was in the area visiting Brooks HQ/Brooks Trailhead store and realized I was so close to Geocaching that I had to pop over. I did not realize that reservations were required and was so close to complete and utter disappointment. Luckily for me, the so, so, so kind employee allowed me to return around 1pm for a tour and to explore the lobby area. When I visited before, they were in another location (albeit still in the Fremont area) so it was cool to see the new digs. I ended up getting a Geocaching HQ patch and sticker as well as a miniature Signal the Frog keychain/plush. I had spotted a flyer for the Geocaching International Film Festival happening the same weekend I was in town and ended up going to see the films which was a neat experience. I still have to add all of the trackables to my geocaching.com account. Until then, it's off to find another Geocache!

Narrative by our tour guide was informative, full of wit, very honest, historical, giving an overall feel that he really loves the city. It also helped that he was a school bus driver and was born and raised in Seattle. He sure knows the city grid well as a couple of times we had to skirt around road closures due to a film crew on location. Our tour guide name was Laurant. In any case, he kept us save and we had a wonderful tour. The tour stuck to the brochures itinerary but due to the closures we took a drive to the west side and Alki Beach and an overlook that gave a stunning view of the Bay and the Seattle Skyscrapers. It was wonderful to sit back and relax in the comfortable tour bus and not having to worry about the traffic, the people, the tourists, and the whereabouts as we were in good hands. A great tour that I recommend to any first timers to Seattle. We asked to be dropped of at Pike Market where we continued our Seattle adventure on foot.

The guides to a person have been excellent. Besides architecture, you also learn a lot of history. Generally we've done their publicly available tours, but during Covid did a private tour where it was just the two of us, the guide, and the guide's assistant. Both styles are great. The tours tend to be self-selecting -- people who aren't into architecture don't tend to sign up -- so the public tours are as good as the private. Probably the best compliment I can give is that I'm looking forward to doing another one!

When I saw there was one in Seattle I booked it on their website right away. There are a lot of older style headstones in this beautiful old cemetery. Most of the Seattle pioneers are buried there along with Bruce Lee and his son Brandon. Our guide Joe was great. I recently returned from a 13-day Seychelles exploration and snorkel/dive adventure beginning in…read moreZanzibar, visiting something like 9 Seychelles Atolls and islands for tons of daily snorkeling and diving, and finishing in Mahe where we departed from. This was absolutely the best cruise/group experience I have ever had on either land or sea. Zegrahm charters the boats and I was lucky enough to be on the Ponant ship, Le Bougainville, which is very posh, with a friendly and polite staff, an amazing french chef, good food, a nice spa, you name it. My bedroom was like a small luxury hotel and each room had a balcony so you could enjoy seaside and ocean views from your bed or balcony whenever you'd like. It was lovely. I especially appreciated coming back to such a haven after long days of sunshine, beach and snorkeling. Not only was the cruise ship and it's staff fantastic, but the Zegrahm staff were all wonderful. I sat and had dinner with many of them every day and they somehow remembered all our names (99 or so of us). They snorkeled and dove with us, pointing out fish and naming species, they went birding, they provided lectures in the mornings and evenings in their areas of expertise, because Zegrahm hires Marine Biologists, Anthropologists, and countless other individuals (with PhDs) to provide insight and lessons into the history and ecology of the places being visited and seen. At the conclusion of the trip - I didn't want it to end. I had made several like-minded friends for travel, was invited on future trips and exchanged information with almost everyone. We were a family by the end, both staff and customers. Hugs all around as we celebrated all we had seen together and promised to keep in touch. Zegrahm fosters that type of environment when you travel with them - and it was welcoming and especially enjoyable for a solo traveler like myself. These trips aren't cheap - but are worthwhile for all you see and do - most things you'd never be able to see on your own and certainly not with trained ecologists and marine science experts. I believe you get what you pay for. I was one of the youngest on board but there was a small group of about ten 30-40 year olds with the vast majority being probably 50-80. This isn't a sit on the boat all day-type thing. You are going to be waking up early, going out 2-3x a day and really seeing and doing things. You almost never have down time and you are always learning, seeing, talking and doing. It's expeditionary, not sedentary. It's fun and really enriching. The best way to know someone is doing a good job at this price point (think around $8-12k per person) is repeat customers and I met countless people who have done 6-12 of these expeditions with Zegrahm and knew the staff already. That's the absolute best recommendation you can get. I'll be booking with them again without any hesitation. Thank you to Brad, Murph, LJ, Merel, Steven, George, George K., Robin, Pepper, Lisa, Shirley, Gemma, Chris, Boli, Marcel, and anyone else who I forgot from this amazing trip.
