In the last few years they are raising lambs too. (See PS at end for their info about the lamb breeds and how they are raised.) As avid home cooks who are passionate about supporting local farmers and using local sourced ingredients, my husband and I have been Purple Sage fans since we discovered them on a visit to the Boise Farmer's Market in 2013, before we moved to the area. In the ten years we have lived in the area Purple Sage fresh and dried products purchased at our local CoOp or the Boise Farmers Market in season, have been used in our kitchen on several days during every week for many dishes. Once we discovered Purple Sage was raising lamb, our favorite protein to cook when we use animals although we are vegetarian cooks about 90% of the time, we added that to the line up. We recently learned that Purple Sage will deliver (two days a week, I think) in the Treasure Valley and that includes lamb as well as all other items. As a cook with growing disabilities (I have had multiple sclerosis since college days) delivery sounded great to me to avoid a trip to the CoOp or Farmers Market. Delivery is free with an order of $25 or more and a modest delivery fee otherwise. Yesterday we tried the delivery service for the first time and it was such fun to have abundance of gourmet mix salad greens, arugula and fresh herbs including flowering thyme, chives, cilantro, peppermint, tarragon and dill delivered to our door along with a couple of lamb shoulder steaks and a half leg roast. (As with all local farmers who sell animal proteins, the lamb is frozen after butchering.) We are grateful for this family and the work they do to help nourish us! The Dolce Co. is a Boise-based macaron company "dedicated to making and sharing sweetness from…read morescratch." They are available via local pop-ups. They can also be ordered and shipped throughout the US. During the pandemic, Molly Renaldo found herself buying a daily macaron from her local coffee shop. She decided to use her extra time at home to learn how to make them herself. Her first pop up was in January 2021. I discovered this business at Payette Brewing Co.'s Holiday Market on 12/2/21. There were six flavors available: Hot Chocolate, Snickerdoodle,Candy Cane, Maple Bacon, Strawberry Chocolate, and Lucky Charm. For $12, I bought one of each. These macarons are sweeter than any I've had before. Personally, I prefer a macaron that is a little less sweet and more strongly flavored. But the interesting flavors will appeal to others. The macarons are nicely packaged. The two pack is the perfect size for a stocking stuffer. My favorite flavors were Hot Chocolate and Snickerdoodle. My second favorite flavors were. Candy Cane and Maple Bacon, though I couldn't taste the bacon. My least favorite flavors were Strawberry Chocolate and Lucky Charm. Both were overly sweet, to the point that I struggled to pick up any other flavors. When I closed my eyes and took a bite of each, they were barely distinguishable from one of them. Sambusas are a fried or baked pastry filled with a savory filling such as spiced potatoes, peas, cheese, meat, or lentils. They are often served with a hot dipping sauce. Sambusas are also known as samosas or samboosa's. They originated in the Middle East and Central Asia, before spreading to Africa, Southeast Asia, South Asia and beyond. They are usually served as an appetizer or snack. Add a salad or rice side dish to a couple of these and you have a meal. My first introduction to samosas was when I was 10 years old and living in the Congo, known at that time as Zaire. Those samosas, influenced by the Indian community, were made of beef, onions, chili peppers, cumin and turmeric. They were sold at the market and various shops. They were sometimes served with pili-pili sauce, but they were delicious without. For me, those remain the best samosas I've ever had. Shankaron's sambusas are not as spicy, but they are delicious! By far, these are the best version of this food that I have had locally. I like that they are made to order, not simply reheated. The pastry itself is perfection. Deep fried, but not greasy. Nicely crisped on the outside, but soft as you bite into it. In addition to beef, these have chopped onion and cilantro, maybe some garlic and various spices. These are served with Shidni sauce, a spicy green chili hot sauce made with tamarind and lemon. These would go great with an ice cold beer. Perfect for those Sunday afternoon's watching football, or anytime. In addition to sambusas, Shankaron Market has other menu items, and lots of other great products. Highly recommended!!!!!

I only purchased one item, and it was a lark - canned Baba Ghanouh. I thought it would be terrible, but it was actually not bad for a canned item. The people were friendly, and the restaurant felt like a friendly local bar. The folks that were there were engaged in conversation (in Somali language I guess) and they didn't seem to mind me checking out the menu, although I didn't order that day. Overall, it was a nice experience, even if it was pretty much a "check this place out for the first time" kind of thing.
