What I received was an over-priced $$$$ digital rendering of a flawed kitchen design that had major problems including deleting an entire wall of cabinets that was an integral part of my kitchen. Dick and his assistant Amber were very unprofessional and disorganized in their design chaos. I was charged hours of work performed by his assistant Amber for plant-landscape design work that I did not even ask for? There were several last minute cancellation appointments with poor excuses. I was kept in the dark for several weeks on the final design rendering and the outrageous bill I would receive! There was no scope of work outline or accounting breakdown of his services. Just an outrageous bill calculated by his high hourly rate times hours worked and I am questioning his billing practices. I believe that I was over-charged for work I did not ask to be performed. Dick would often ask for payment at the end of an appointment without producing any type of invoice. I asked multiple times for Dick to send me invoices for his billing but most I never received. When I confronted Dick about his accounting and billing practices, he would not discuss it with me and stormed out of my house! I had high hopes for my future kitchen design with Dick Sorensen Design and now all I am left with is huge $$$$ financial losses and a failed kitchen design! What a disaster!!

I've been a designer and fabricator of furniture and sculpture for over forty-five years, so it wasn't difficult to start developing ideas. As I dreamed I began looking around for assistance with the process, and found Artisans Group. I didn't go to Artisans Group looking for an industry-leading eco-home. I came because I saw a couple of their projects and loved the clean modern style Tessa Smith and Randy Foster were putting together. They were realizing designs that seemed to me to be far beyond what other design/build groups were creating. Architecture has been a fascination most of my life, and what I saw in the lines and volumes Tessa was producing was a natural feel for proportions, for minimal and unique details, for the flow of life patterns in a home, and particularly for the play of light, natural and artificial, as it enhances and defines spaces and the experience of living. With Tessa and Artisans I got all of that plus a great experience of collaboration in design, and a house that always surprises me--because it is somehow more "me" than I would have designed by myself. It's a "world house," designed with details and technological solutions that are distinctly European and soundly ecological in a way that just makes sense. The house stays at comfortable temperatures with the air always fresh while using a tenth of the energy of my last house. The biggest surprise was when I moved in and found the experience to be more physically comfortable than I would have--or could have--imagined. The house seems to have its own body temperature, and wears like a glove. The Jewel Box (as we nick-named it during the design process) was designed to be a home and gallery. It has become a museum of my life's work and remains so comfortable and inspiring that I stay home wondering why I would want to be anywhere else. I requested service quote for a routine service in…read moreLacey, WA and was quoted $75 and I admit it was my fault I misread the email that said they would charge an additional $75 plus postage if I wanted them to mail a copy of the service documents to the defendant being served. $75 to mail a copy via regular mail is wild when postage only cost them $2.44. So, lesson learned, read the emails carefully, pay attention to how much they are charging. Most servers include the mailing on their service fees. I will most definitely not use their services again, just for the simple fact that I basically paid double their fees. My documents were served on a timely manner but price wise they did go overboard at the end. I will not be using this company for any future services that is for sure.
