Iron work is not something that one needs often, but when needed quality of product is imperative. Naty really came through for me when I had to get bars installed on my windows. He came out with little notice to measure and give a quote that was below what others had quoted me. He custom creates all products and backs it up. The install was pretty easy and he made sure he got it right for me before calling it a day. Really happy with the quality of the work and honesty of Naty and his team.

Working with Naty was a breeze, the price was great, and my new fence was an immediate upgrade to my property. I hired Naty in May 2015 to replace my rusty chain link fence in Shaw's historic district with a wrought iron fence. It's a large corner property, so it was a very long fence by city standards and it also had to meet with DCRA historic standards. I couldn't be more happy with the outcome. Naty came out to measure the property and meet with me to discuss the elements I wanted on the fence. He quoted two different options I was considering, which was helpful. The quote itself was the best pricing I had found after speaking with 5 or 6 other fence companies. Naty manufactured the fence, and had it ready for installation exactly when he said he would (actually finished the manufacturing early, but I hadn't pulled the permit yet). He scheduled a time for the guys to come out. His crew arrived in the morning and removed my old fence. When I got home from work, they were mostly done with installing the new fence. On the second day they completed the job and installed two gates. All the guys were nice, and worked very hard. I'm 3 months into my new fence and it has held up great on a heavy-traffic block (lots of guys leaning on it, the occasional bike locked up on it etc). The fence was hefty, and the ornamental spikes are substantial. It feels like a high quality product. I highly recommend Naty.

Blue Collar Scholars Completely Transformed Our Home -- 5 Stars Isn't Enough!…read more We had an outstanding experience with Blue Collar Scholars on two projects -- a stone porcelain patio and a stone front walkway with a sitting wall -- and I would absolutely recommend them. From the initial planning through final completion, the entire process was professional, organized, and transparent. The pricing was very reasonable for the quality of work, everything stayed on schedule, and both projects were completed in approximately three weeks. One thing that was especially important to us was working with a properly licensed and fully insured contractor. Blue Collar Scholars gave us confidence that the work was being handled by a professional company that takes responsibility, safety, and quality seriously. Doug Brzezinski and Andrea Ortega were excellent to work with throughout the process. Communication was clear, expectations were well managed, and we always felt that the project was in good hands. A special recognition goes to Ulises, who was truly the architect and mastermind behind the work on-site. His experience, attention to detail, and craftsmanship were outstanding. Just as importantly, he provided thoughtful and trustworthy advice throughout the project. Rather than simply doing what was easiest, he took the time to explain options and recommend what he believed would produce the best long-term result. That level of integrity and expertise really stood out. The six-man crew -- Ulises, Abner, both Samuels, Angel, and Gabriel -- was exceptional. They arrived on time, worked incredibly hard every day, were polite and respectful, and clearly took great pride in their work. It was impressive to see how efficiently and professionally the entire crew worked together. Service Requested: Stone porcelain patio and stone walkway with sitting wall Quality: Outstanding craftsmanship and attention to detail Value: Excellent -- very reasonably priced for the quality of work and service The transformation of our property is remarkable. The new patio, walkway, and sitting wall look fantastic, and I am confident this work will add significantly more value to our home than what we invested in the project. Professional people, excellent workmanship, fair pricing, trustworthy advice, and an exceptionally hardworking crew. Blue Collar Scholars delivered on everything they promised. I would definitely use them again and highly recommend Doug, Andrea, Ulises, Abner, both Samuels, Angel, Gabriel, and the entire Blue Collar Scholars team.

I talked to Eric and he was fantastic! He was able to get his team in quickly, the work was performed far beyond anything I'd expected, and both he and his on-site foreman were very responsive. We had two challenges, both of which Eric and his team overcame with speed, quality delivery, and excellent customer service. We were working on a tight timetable, so I was receiving store fixtures while construction was ongoing. Eric and his team were able to work around this without any problems. Second, my initial flooring choice became unavailable between the time I selected it and ordering. When this happened, Eric and I went down to Home Depot together and found another option that looked better, was higher quality, and cost less. I cannot recommend Eric and A&E construction enough! 100% would use again. In fact, I have some upcoming work that I need to do on my home. I bid this job to five other companies, but I'll just be reaching out to Eric directly on that one.

His team is very nice and the work is amazing. We had 21 different quotes and hands down felt comfortable with Eric. He won't try to price hike after a contract begins, provides detailed updates, and quickly understands what you want. Our project was as close to a gut renovation as you could get without demoing the whole place. The project turned out amazing and was done within 2 months. We moved walls, changed flooring, the entire kitchen, stairs and rail system, new ceilings, paint, trim, and so much more. On top of the great work, he provides a warranty on all his work. I highly recommend A&E for any project. I won't use any other contractor besides them.

H&C was not the least expensive quote I received, but they also weren't the most expensive. In my experience, the value they delivered more than justified the investment. One of the things I found particularly valuable was the project management app they use. It made it easy to manage the project from end to end, stay informed, review decisions, and keep everything organized in one place. The design phase did take some time, but it was time very well spent. Once we finalized the design, everything moved at a great pace, and the execution was smooth and well coordinated. This was actually my second project with H&C Construction this year, and I am once again very pleased with the results. The fact that I chose to work with them a second time says a lot about my confidence in their team and the quality of their work. I would highly recommend H&C Construction to anyone considering a kitchen remodel. They are professional, organized, communicative, and committed to delivering quality work--and they made what can be a stressful process feel very well managed.

Unfortunately their estimate was fully double the one we got from a different company. Worst part: charging us for things like moving the fridge AND putting it back. If we want the ice maker reconnected, it's more than $100! Insane. And our house is all electric (no gas) but they're charging us to reconnect the gas line! I can't imagine how much people overlook when choosing this company. It's too bad, too, because they were our first choice. Not anymore.

The wall between the kitchen and dining contained duct work for both the dining room and upstairs, plumbing was done to the code of 1960 when the house was built, and previous owners/flippers did things in slapdash ways that made the process harder than it needed to be. But at the end of the day, what I sketched out came to life, and beautifully! Andrii and his team worked with all the things I really wanted out of my kitchen (including using existing appliances, so they had to move them around the space a lot while working, and some fancy stuff that is non-standard including that crazy butterfly sink that you see in some of the afters!), worked to bring things current (like moving plumbing off exterior walls, so I no longer have to worry about pipes freezing), and got it done. A total transformation! The price was middling among quotes, and I felt it was a great value since I got quality work and didn't have to do much (like ordering stuff...Andrii always had someone who could get things at a normal/retail price without me doing it). Job completed around our "contingency" finish date, which was only one week more than the "we hope to finish by" date, which is really good for a project of this scope. I am very satisfied, and if I didn't drive them crazy, will be using them for my bathrooms in a few years!
