Phil the owner is the nicest guy you may meet in Orleans. I had an Amazon inflatable SUP w no fin. On a very busy day he took the time to find something to fit the odd fin bed. Taking my board in the shop and spending 30 min and not charging me. Could not have more gracious. In the store his daughters are quick at the registers. Don't worry if you see a line his clerks will move you thru. His grandson in boards etc is an impressive young man who was also patient w me. Top notch store and people. Every time I go home to see my parents, I try to stop at Nauset Sports before I leave town. Why? Because it's the most fun place to shop, ever. Yeah, they sell and rent surfboards and gear and all of that which is fantastic considering the beaches just up the road -Marconi, Nauset, Coast Guard -you get my drift. But what I really love are the CLOTHES. Perfect for beaching, surfing, or chilling, they have everything you need. A bajillion brands of bathing suits (L*Space, Roxy, Quicksliver, O'Neill to name a few), flip flops (Rainbow, Reef, Havaiana, Tava), sunnies (Electrics, Arnette, Oakley), surf shorts and hats that all manage to be stylish and current. Love it. Everything is geared toward surfers or beach lifestyle peeps, so don't expect anything fancy or refined - it's all about casual ease. The staff is also friendly and very knowledgeable about surfing, which is a plus. They've also got boogie boards and other water sports equipment, so you can walk out fully geared and ready for an active day on the beach. read more

I'm not going to lie to you, Nauset Sports is definitely my last resort shopping place for my summer needs. True, you can find pretty much anything you'll need for a day at the beach. Everything from chairs to surf boards, flip flips to bathing suits. But everything is just really expensive. Why buy your Teva's here when you can just go onto the Teva website and pay less with shipping? The store is also always really cramped and it kind of smells like rubber. I don't know what that's all about, but there you have it. It can be a little frustrating trying to find a bathing suit in there, too, because there are bathing suits hanging off the racks and in complete disarray, not to mention they don't have any women's bathing suits that fit chests bigger than a C-cup unless they are one-piece, granny style suits. That's just not cool. It IS possible to have a petite figure with abnormally large jugs. Seriously... Don't get me wrong, I am not a hater of Nauset Sports, but it's definitely not the first place I'll go when I need to restock on my summer needs. read more

AKA Nauset Surf Shop. I rented a surfboard on Saturday for $20. An excellent value - Staff was super friendly and helpful. Helped me pick out the right board for me and get it strapped to the Jeep. Close to Nauset beach, it much more convenient that dragging a board all the way from Boston. My girlfriend bought a T-shirt and my buddy got a boogie board. I purchased a wind-block on a previous visit - thought all the prices were reasonable. I'll probably rent a few more times from Nauset Surf before deciding to buy my own board. read more

This place is where we go for sale surf fashions, the softest Nauset Surf tee's, SUPB advice, repairs, conversation (the owner is about as nice and mellow a man as you'll meet on any surf coast), and the sale racks are hard to beat. I don't even know why people go here. It is this weird combination of the ORIGINAL A & F sporting store feel coupled with your EMS/zappos... But it's done just right. basic beach gear, sun glasses, boards, clothing... But I won't deceive you, this place is only worth it at the end of the yr sale where they are basically giving things away.... so cheers for that, because otherwise their stuff is outrageously expensive and nothing really unique. so... wait until fall.. Bad Advice! I bought an 8' board here and asked about leash length, saying that I wanted an 8' leash for an 8' board. The person helping me insisted that that is too long and I could do 6'. Against my better judgment I listened and bought the shorter leash; after just a few waves the board snapped up and hit me in the head. 12 stitches later I returned the leash; the shop was insistent that the 6' length was right. I've now done some more research and everywhere I check, the advice is that leash and board should be the same length. Don't give unsafe advice! read more

I love the review above complaining that Nauset Sports smells like rubber. Ever been to a surf shop before? It smells like coconut surf wax too! That being said, I used to love Nauset, but I'm more ambivalent about it now. There are not many surf shops on Cape Cod, and it is one of the biggest (the other big one being the Boarding House in Hyannis). It's hard to beat the selection they offer, and I often do buy gear and clothes there. Still, you can sense the staff deals with too many summer tourists and have gained a "we like your money but don't respect you" attitude. Whip out your wallet and ask about buying a surfboard or SUP-- then they become attentive. I don't get the same feeling at the Boarding House (maybe because there aren't as many people doing last minute beach shopping there), and I REALLY like Pump House surf across the street, but it has a small surf shop feel and a more limited selection. read more

Also check out their collection of surf clothes (roxy, billabong, volcom....) They also have a whole room devoted to surf boards and offer rentals, as well.
