Destiny is the best bartender! Great venue- lots of outside area to sit, including outdoor bar - dog friendly, waterfront, and live music- what more could you ask for? We had a phenomenal flight of Pina Colada varieties, some beers and the Mac n cheese bites. Destiny let me know about all the items they could accommodate for vegetarian as well. I was really wanting to try the cotton candy cheesecake, but we missed it as today they had a raspberry one which just isn't my thing. We will be back to try the cotton candy one! read more

Yes yes yes! Situated quaintly along the peace river near Arcadia, this old Florida 'dive bar' is top notch. Of course, you'd expect a place with gator in its name to have good gator bites, and they surely do. Meg the bartender is a class act and brings this place to life. We can't go here and not get the redfish Reuben sandwich. It's the best we've had and honestly amount the best Reuben's ever, believe it or not. Nav-A-Gator Bar& Grill This place was such a surprise to me. It's old school Florida for sure. It's nothing fancy very basic but the food so good. On the inside a big bar and plenty of seating but the outside I believe that's where the magic is. Lots of tables with umbrellas, a 2nd Bar and a stage for live music. It's a very laid-back atmosphere and the servers are so friendly they treat you like family. I loved the food and was surprised it was so good. For an appetizer we ordered the Fried Clam Strips and for our main meal my wife and I ordered a well-done Surf & Turf Burger with Fries, and our friend ordered the House Salad. The Clam Strips came out 1st the basket was packed with Strips, and they were so very good. Our main orders came out fast and the plates were filled with the Burger & Fries. The Salad was in a huge bowl filled to the top. I can't say enough good things about our Burgers. They were done perfectly and so juicy and the tops was packed with Crab Meat. Even the Fries were coated and all so good. Our friends Salad looked fresh and was packed with all the toppings. All our food was served hot and very tasty. Our waitress Kaedyn was amazing in taking care of us checking on us and answering any questions we had. Even some of the other waitress came by and talked to us they were all friendly and could not do enough for us. The live music took our experience to the next level. This is not your typical tourist trap. It's old Florida Funky at its best. Very popular with many regulars, greeted by name as busy, friendly severs scurry around taking food and drink orders. The food is delicious and served piping hot. We went for mid-week lunch where my wife and daughter shared an over-sized grouper sandwich with fries and I enjoyed a delicious and perfectly prepared shrimp po-boy sandwich with their distinctive tasting slaw. The laid back, unpretentious atmosphere draws people from everywhere who enjoy simple good times and good food. Many outside dining tables with umbrellas are available for those who find the inside dining area to be too noisy. Wednesday, a little after 1 pm. Ordered a shrimp basket subbing onion rings for fries, and my dining companion had the coconut shrimp subbing cole slaw for fries. Everything was perfectly prepared and tasted great. There is definitely an 'old Florida' atmosphere but what we ate was fantastic. We ate inside because it was pretty warm, but the outside seating would be nice if it were cooler. Things are not fancy but everything was clean and comfortable. The service was outstanding, and our server was familiar with the menu and the specials. I will definitely be going back to try some other things on the menu that looked good. read more

We came for lunch on a rainy dreary day earlier this week. There were 5 of us and we ordered a variety of dishes including gator bites, burgers, salads, a fish taco special, chicken tenders, and a fish Ruben. Great little dive bar! It's a bit off the beaten path in Port Charlotte, but it's definitely worth the drive. I think you'll have a great time. The venue offers both inside and outside seating, right by a boat launch. We noticed many motorcycle enthusiasts enjoying their meals as well. There's plenty of parking, and getting in is easy. They even have a stage for live music on occasion. The view of the river is fantastic, and there's plenty to do and watch, including kayaking, airboats, and river tours. Diane and I were in the area and decided to check out the Peace River airboat tour, which is conveniently located at the Nav-a-Gator Bar and Grill. We drove down from Venice Beach, about a 30-minute drive, and found a parking spot right away around 2 pm on a Saturday. The place had a good crowd, and the restaurant was well-staffed. We were seated right away at an outdoor table. Our server, Zoey, was fantastic--friendly and attentive. She shared that she'd been working there for a couple of years and enjoyed meeting people from all over. We even had a brief chat about Wyoming, where she'd lived before. As a nice surprise, when Diane went to pay for the airboat ride at a small building on the property, the attendant came out with a baby alligator and handed it to her, which Diane absolutely loved! The Nav-a-Gator has a great menu with appetizers, salads, wraps, burgers, baskets, sandwiches, entrées, and sides. They also offer a large drink selection. We started with a Cabernet and a Kona Big Wave. Diane had the Nav-A-Gator Cobb Salad with Chicken, featuring mixed greens, bacon, tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, hearts of palm, shredded cheddar, and hard-boiled eggs. I went with the Blackened Seared Ahi Tuna, drizzled with a signature teriyaki rum glaze, along with Buffalo Cauliflower (lightly breaded and tossed in house-made buffalo sauce) and the Firecracker Meat & Cheese Board, which included southern-inspired smoked sausage, pepper jack, cheddar, and their tasty firecrackers. Everything was delicious, and we had a wonderful lunch. The property itself isn't overly fancy but has been recently upgraded and renovated. The food is good for the type of establishment and I would rate it a 4 but the overall experience was why I gave it a 5. Atmosphere, service, people all 5 stars. We came by water and slipped into the last open slip by the restaurant. Yay! Touched base with the host and she had us seated right away. (And it was busy). Our server Natalie was right on it with drinks and appetizers super quickly. The smoked fish dip and chips was outstanding, worth the trip right then and there. I had a blackened grouper fish sandwich (on a hoagie) with fries and slaw that was very good. Others had the 1000 island sandwich fish sandwich that they felt could have had more dressing and the rye bread was a bit oily on the outside. A performer set up on the small outdoor stage as we were having our drinks and appetizer and he played a few songs before we left. The volume and acoustics were just right allowing for background music and still allowing conversation. We finished our meal and refreshments and headed out. Very long wait (75 minutes) and we were still not able to sit together because we were seated at two separate round tables. The service was ok but orders came out at different times and some people ate an hour before others. Also the bill was wrong and showed extra menu items but luckily we caught it. It was a beautiful setting though with the water on the side and it had lawn games and chairs while you waited. The food was great! Everyone loved what they got at my tables. Lots of people said " try the Nav-A-Gator". So we went out there on a Sunday with some friends, live music was really good. Food was what I expected, bar food but still very good. What a fun place! we went to Nav-A-Gator by boat to grab a quick bite with some friends. There was plenty of seating both inside and out, so we chose a table inside to escape the heat. We were greeted by our server, Destinee' who was amazing. Our friends said we had to try the Southern Style Smoked Fish Dip, which is made with Smoked Mahi Mahi, served with a side of diced onions, Jalapeños, and homemade chips so we ordered this and a couple of drinks. When asked, Destinee' made a couple of beer recommendations, one of which was the Dead Parrot by FA brewing. It is a light lager with sea salt and fresh limes and was perfect with the fish dip. The fish dip lived up to the hype and the beer is a new favorite. Even though this place is considered a dive-bar, Destinee' was a better server than we have had at some high-end restaurants. Se have visited 4 times with 3 at the bar. The bar is always chaotic but this last time was worse! The bartender really didn't care that we were there along with a few other people. She did care about her friends that sat next to us whom she visited a lot. We had to yell our order to her instead of her offering us the same courtesy as she did to her friends. All 3 times we sat at the bar everyone was always way to busy stocking the bar. I wanted just a piece of fish and she charged me for the entire sandwich and side. My buffalo cauliflower was overly greasy and my husbands sausage was extremely salty. None of that really mattered to me if she would have been nice. read more

Gator bites were out of this world! We also had grilled/blackened Unicorn Fish. That too was wonderful. I had a Key Lime Margarita that was far beyond expectations! We rented a boat downtown Punta Gorda and found this restaurant down the river with free docking right outside. It seems like a lot of people have kayaking/boating tours that start/end here so this place was a hangout for them. Lots of outdoor seating, yard games, TV's, gift shop, music, and more. The place was packed when we arrived around lunch time, to our surprise, because you're kinda in the middle of no where. Our waitress did a fantastic job and we were very impressed how hard all of the staff was working. Our drinks were constantly refilled and our food all arrived in a timely matter. We started with the Gator Bites that were very good and included enough to share at a table of 3. I went with the Shrimp PoBoy for my lunch and it was very good and huge. The fries were crispy and hot! This place definitely exceeded our expectations because we expected a small shack on the side of the river with a couple docks. Went here last Saturday for a late lunch, it has both indoor and outdoor seating, we chose first available and we were seated inside. Place was very busy and inside was very loud. We started with onion rings, seemed like they were frozen as many of them the onion came out on the first bite. My wife had the burger and I went with the fish and chips. Our waitress was Kennedy, she took good care of us. As for the food, just ok. Fish for the fish and chips was Basa it was ok and my wife's burger was just ok. There was a large connect 4 game for the kids to play while we waited on our food. The outside tables have umbrellas and are a good size. Our family of 6 fit with room to spare. My husband ordered a steak . I ordered the blackened snapper. We both added a shrimp skewer to our meal for $6.99. It had maybe 8 shrimp on it. The tartar sauce was homemade and delicious! My kids are young (7,4,2) and shared the adult chicken tender meal . I think there were 5 tenders. They couldn't finish it. We ordered the alligator bites as an appetizer. The sauce it came with was perfect. Our waitress was kind and moved quickly. Overall, great experience!!! We would go back over and over if we lived here. read more

This has an old time Florida field. It was destroyed during the hurricane and completely built up with outdoor seating and indoor seating. It has a very home and warm atmosphere. They serve big portions at a reasonable price. My daughter and I split the grouper Ruben. It was good, but for the price it was great I have had much better but have had to pay for it, my Wife split the crabcake sandwich with my son it was too overpowering with old bay. They said it was just OK. we went there a second time with friends and ordered the grouper sandwich they were out of grouper, we then ordered another fish sandwich. She came back and said they were all out of fish but they did have redfish. It was good but not fresh like the others. NAVIGATE AWAY! We recently boated into the navigator for a grouper sandwich! We have been there several times previously. While the grouper was good ( the Rueben average). The price was staggering! $145 for four sandwiches... no drinks, no dessert! Most area grouper when listed at market price run $18 to $23. This was ridiculous! In the future we will wait until we get back to Laishley snd go to the crab house! Yelp need to ad to more $$$$ read more

Fun hidden gem... The location is off the beaten path, the drinks were cold, and the outdoor seating area was cute. We ordered drinks and the Cajun chips.
