I wanted to better connect with the language associated with my heritage, so I decided to invest the time and money to learn Tagalog. I took the Level 1 hybrid course with Rhya in early summer 2026. Overall, it provided a great foundation for introductory grammar and vocab for Tagalog. By the end of the first course, you quickly become comfortable being able to ask simple questions (like where are you from? what's your name?), answering with affirmative/negation statements, and even being able to ask "how much/how many" with Tagalog numbers right off the bat. The class structure felt perfect, with the small class sizes. The course was very interactive, as we were constantly engaging and practicing the language throughout each course. And of course, it provided a safe space to make mistakes and grow with the language. If we made a mistake, Rhya would walk us through our mistake to help understand where it was and why the correct answer was provided. The class structure was also perfect for my work schedule. There were times I had to travel for work and miss a lecture. Because I was signed up for the hybrid course, I was provided class recordings after each session, allowing me to catch up and not feel left behind. The sessions are definitely catered to working adults, with all courses being offered in the evenings. Each session was 90 mins long each week for 7 weeks. I learned a lot from Level 1, and I'm excited to continue on to Level 2!

The instructor that I had, Keiko is great. She is very patient and always willing to help. (The courses can be fast though depending the language and the books being used). The other people there are always very polite and helpful as well. The facility, while basic, is clean and conducive to learning. They seem to use a mix of media (e.g. slides, Quizlet, etc. which is good). FYI - it is near SJC - San Jose Int'l airport and the jets taking off can be somewhat loud at times.

Michael helped my son to not only get through that course, but also to be prepared for calculus this year, where he is succeeding remarkably. Additionally, Michael offered general advice and specific practice techniques for the SAT, and he shared his expertise on essay writing, both for the exam and for college applications. Michael has been very flexible and understanding in addressing our questions and concerns, and is both professional and friendly to work with. While he charges more than some private home tutors you might find on Craigslist, he is a full-time professional tutor who charges comparably to, or less than tutoring centers. We definitely value the added convenience of having him come straight to our home at times that meet our schedule. We have enjoyed working with Michael and look forward to working with him again as our son prepares for college next year, and can strongly recommend him for any parents concerned about their child's progress in math, science, or preparing for college.

It went so well, I hired Michel to tutor my daughter who was on an IEP (auditory process disorder and speech delay) and struggles with any new task. I never told Michael she was disabled because I did not want a different style than he provided my son. I was worried for my daughter at first because I saw nothing in his review about how he worked with kids with special needs and my daughter was so behind in math. He started tutoring her well over three year ago and we saw such an amazing transformation in her math work and grades in just 3 months. My daughter was quiet and somewhat stubborn and yet he had the patience to work with her 2-3 times a week (1-2 hours a day). Maya just graduated from Willow Glen she will attend University of CA Dominican this fall, and her math placement test work placed her in highest entry for freshman math. We feel very lucky and blessed to have had Michael on our side. Thank you, Michael, for all you have done for my family!! You are doing the right work, you rock we couldn't have done this without you.

I have probably one of the most stubborn unmotivated dogs alive (an Akita) and Corinne has done wonders with him. She trains using positive reinforcement. She is gentle and kind and it is obvious when she works with your dog that she seriously knows her stuff. My dog responds to her methods really well. She works with both the owner and the dog so that while she is shaping behaviors she is also teaching you how to reinforce those behaviors and teaching you the principles of positive reinforcement and using clicks and small treats to communicate with the dog. She is also extremely reasonable for a private trainer. I feel so lucky to have found Corinne!

I highly recommend Corinne for any type of Algebra tutoring needed, whether it's a younger or 'older' student !!

Overall, the tutoring was helpful, but I do wish there had been better communication from the instructors regarding his progress and areas that needed improvement. One of the highlights of the program was an instructor named Trenton. My son connected with him right away, and Trenton was excellent at communicating with both students and parents. When he left, my son was very disappointed, as he had built a strong rapport with him and looked forward to their sessions. While there were positive aspects to the program, I believe stronger communication with parents would have made the experience even better.

We found Engenius at a critical moment, and I couldn't be more grateful. From the start, Mike (the owner) impressed me with his deep knowledge of the local high school's curriculum -- and even the specific teaching style of her math instructor. He quickly put together a plan to get her back on track, and it worked. Justin, her tutor, was fantastic. He explained complex concepts in a way that made sense to her and helped rebuild her confidence along the way. Mike also offered practical tips for how she could adjust her study habits at home, which made a big difference. By the end of the semester, she had raised her grade to a C+--just shy of a B. We decided to continue tutoring into the next term, and she finished the class with an A. I can't recommend Engenius enough. They truly turned things around for her.

From then, I continued to math courses such as Linear Algebra at local community college. I owe all this greatly to Ms.Raji who propelled me into advanced math from a young age. For the six years Mrs Raji taught me, she consistently would introduce new topics in every class and give me a moderate amount of weekly homework which sufficiently reviewed on past topics and strengthened whatever was reviewed in class. This structured teaching style helped me learn at a rapid rate without ever resenting math. Ms.Raji's past experiences as a high school math teacher make her even more invaluable in the sense that she knows what schools are expecting and teaches with that in mind. She also taught me unique ways of approaching math in an efficient manner which paid off when I took the AMC 12 as a junior and qualified for the AIMEs in the top 1%. I would highly recommend Mrs.Raji Menon to anyone who is looking for a math class for their children.
