Since then, the website has changed, times have changed (with fraud), branch locations have changed, just about everything has changed. But supposedly this one code word I set on the account way back when, has not changed and therefore I can not get any assistance. Literally, I was offered NO help on how to get my funds. So when I said to upper phone support, surely there is a way to get help other than flying to Texas, they just kept repeating to me (and you need to understand that they were fairly rude), "I have spoken to my manager and we can not help you without your code word". This morning supposedly, there was a meeting about additional fraud so I can not verify my account now (where yesterday I was able to get help through additional verification questions) without the code word I set back before 2000. In the end, I offered a story about what I did a few years back, which was go to a sister branch to get access to my funds out of state. So after repeating over and over that there had to be a way to access my funds and get assistance other than flying to Texas, they never said well then drive to a "shared branch", "here let me get your zip code and find a branch local to you!" Repeat, they never offered to correct my ignorance about DRIVING to a different brand bank. They just kept saying they can't help without my CODE! So now they know everything about me (full social, every address I have ever lived, mother's maiden, and of course this elusive code word!). This is the only company I have ever done business with that needed my full social plus other info and still I couldn't be helped. HFCU is behind the times. There are ways to verify people without giving your full social. This has been a ridiculous experience. Oh and when I said this is difficult on people when you change the rules (remember the meeting this morning!), they said they didn't change the rules. It was just another way for the lady on the phone to be rude. There was never a sorry, or here are all of the ways to access your money. Just repeating over and over, talking through me, and letting me know their management said they couldn't help me. I would guess that this is representative of other customer service issues and the poor rankings through yelp.

Our father, who was a member of the credit union for over 30 years, enlisted someone to help write…read morechecks for him on his account after he became ill. My sibling presented it to the bank prior to our father's passing, with the person who was authorized to write checks. This individual had to provide his identification and sign a form in front of one of the banking professionals. The banking professional assured my brother that the form he was signing designated him as the beneficiary of our father's account. Since the check writer was not a relative, my brother believed he was doing the right thing. Our father has since passed away, and the check writer has closed the account with over $100,000. My brother reached out on several occasions to the banking professional. After four weeks, she called and acted as if she knew nothing about his signing of the document or even knowing him prior to our father's passing. My brother reminded her that he was in her office and that she had also signed the document. At this point, it has become a legal matter, and we will do all that we can to recover our father's account. This is a shady practice, with this individual being in the Galveston area. Shame on you. Customer service at this location is terrible! I actually had a teller tell me today that the…read moremanager was busy without even turning her neck from looking at drive through line or pausing to see what manager was doing at her desk! I refused to take no for an answer so I went inside and after seeing nobody at managers desk they still made me sit another 20 minutes waiting to see the manager. The manager then informed me that overdraft was intended for "accidental " overages and that she does not allow it at teller window even though this is a practice at all other locations. I might also mention my account is 30 years old so very little risk for abuse of the overdraft. Beware of this location!!! Where do I start with Woodforest. They are the most outdated bank I have done business with. The…read moreonly way to activate their debit cards to to go to a branch and use the atm. There was fraud on my debit card, my account was drained, they only caught 2 of the smaller transactions, and reversed them. They said I would have to do a dispute for the rest of the charges even though they were only minutes apart. They make you come in to a branch and sign forms about the fraud, this took me about 30 minutes in the branch. They told me I would get the money back in 3-5 days. That's not the norm, first off. I called back in 4 business days to check on the status to find out the papers were never "sent in" from the branch I visited, so they can't process my money back to me. The customer service "manager" couldn't get ahold of the branch I signed papers at, so they have to request the papers electronically. I was on the phone for 25 minutes while she tried to get someone in the branch to answer the phone, just for her to tell me she couldn't help me today because no one would answer the phone at that branch. Then she continued to question me as if I never went in and signed the papers. They said they do not have to give me any type of provisional credit for the next 10 days and they will get back to me. This bank is a joke.

However, today I tried to add SiEnergy to my bill pay account and Texas Citizens' system would not accept the zip code I was trying to enter for Si Energy address. A quick call resolved the issue when I was advised because the payee address was a PO Box number I could not add it to bill pay. I then went to my Chase Bank account and lo and behold it went straight through with the correct address and zip code aleady on file there. Bit disappointed with TCB and this result.
