When it came time to tackle the Paycheck Protection Program, I began through Bank of America. To make a long story short, I wasted over 2 weeks with them and was never even told what documents were holding up my process. In stepped Frost Bank and Virginia. Within 2 days, they had all the documents they needed. Virginia personally reviewed everything to make sure it was ready for processing and 1 week later we had approval. I strongly recommend Frost Bank for any small business banking needs. Communication FAILl! Started off meeting Dao -she was very cordial by phone and got back to me…read morequickly. I let her know I bought and sold a house last year and that was the reason I needed someone to do my taxes. I normally do them myself, I also let her know that I am self employed. She quoted me a flat fee of between $175 and $225. We schedule a time to meet and I drop off all my paperwork. I follow up to see how it coming along and ask for the refund amount. She says she doesn't want to tell me until it is final and then we schedule a time to come in. (This is strange to me that I am unable to review the info before its considered final- It is ultimately my responsibility not hers as I've learned the hard way in the past) When I get in and see a rather small refund and an invoice for $250. (I usually get a couple thousand back.) I question the increased amount of the invoice and then she says she spent a lot of time on it but reluctantly says to just pay the smaller amount. Then I suggest something needs to be reviewed/ edited. At this point she tells me that's gonna be an additional $75! Not once did she ever suggest or ask if I had or did certain things that might make my refund larger. That is the benefit to having a CPA do your taxes right? They are the experts- they know things that might help you. I feel like she wanted to do things the fastest and simplest way. Some things were even left off and I didn't get credit for certain things. None of which were explained to me until I asked noticed and asked why. And finally- We met and finalized on Friday. It is now Monday and my taxes have not yet been e-filed. It took 3 e-mails and a phone call to find out why. She is waiting for the check to clear the bank. Understandable but a simple explanation would have been nice.
