At least in my area of Houston I have seen three or four pop-up and three or four go away just as quick. It wasn't until today that I began to understand why that was... A new client of mine who just moved into Houston gave me a retainer check today for a new project I'm going to do for them. And because it was a new account, low number, a checks and for some reason my bank could not authenticate the signature on the check via Bank of America. So they were going to have to put a hold on it until it cleared. I asked if there was anything I could do about the time lag and she looked at the check and she goes. There's a Bank of America just across the street. You just go cash it over there... So off I went check in hand... As I walk in the Bank of America branch no one was in there, two girls working the teller area and a guy at the entry door opening it for all who came and went. I got up to the teller and asked her that I would like to cash this check, she said sure no problem... Then I was asked if I had an account, I replied if I had an account. I just deposited it and not need the cash... She goes! Oh that makes sense... But since you don't have an account here, we're going to have to charge you to cash it... Just after I heard that out of the teller I was dealing with, a gentleman walked up to the teller next to me and all he wanted to do was deposit cash into an account that was not his... His teller looked at him and said you have an account here? He said no ma'am I don't... To which she replied. If you don't have an account here, we can't accept cash as a deposit. You have to bring it in as a check... Kind of interesting that that would happen the exact time that I was in there today... Just goes to show me they don't have good customer service at the Bank of America and I'll bet they charge way too many fees and fines... Why everyone doesn't go to Capital One? I'll never understand they have no fees and finds!!!! So as a result of all this... When I talked to my client and told him what had happened at the bank... He responded that he was having issues with them already as well and was already looking for a new banking institution. He was not surprised! So it looks like this branch may lose several more business.... Nobody should have to pay for banking!!!
