Evidentally it is forbidden taboo to run air condition here. The lobby was stagnant. Ace was polite and patient. The price seems steep for lodging with no curb appeal, dirty shower bldg..1166 2nd floor, dingey towels, stained carpet... however that isnt important. This place is better described as a Motel. 1 single cold bottle of complimentary water would have distracted me from all this other inconvenient nonsense.

Holy Toledo, er... Pearl Harbor, what's with the horrific reviews? Obviously the old girl pales in comparison to luxury hotels on the waterfront with breathtaking views, but one-star ratings across the board? Not cool, folks! Not cool! Look, the majority of folk who stay here aren't even paying for their stay, Uncle Sam is footin' the bill, so what gives? Barring a few retirees who roll through, I'll assume most folk are staying here on orders and just want everything for nothing. Here's what they do have: nice employees, comfy beds and mediocre WiFi. Coffee in your room and plenty of towels. Seriously, what more do you want in Honolulu for 135 per night? Mints on your pillows and turndown service? Come on, Man! Look, she's old, but she's solid! And she's worthy of three stars. Cheers!

My husband and me stayed at the Royal Alaka'i pet-friendly townhome units for 20 nights when first arrived to the island after moving here. We had a wonderful stay! Our unit was very spacious and perfect for us as we served our first 14 days in quarantine after arriving. Contrary to other reviews, we found our unit to be very clean, bright and again spacious. Staff was friendly and able to accommodate our needs despite having to socially distance from us. I would highly recommend these units to anyone who is need of a long term stay. Special thanks to Annie in reservations who worked so hard to secure me a pet-friendly unit on short notice due to COVID delays. You are awesome Annie!

    Dirty tub

If you don't mind the occasional visitors (big flying roaches) or ants on the bed and other flies/bugs in the room or having no privacy because the walls are made of window shutters that can easily be opened by anyone on the outside or people hearing your conversations, or the scum stained dirty tub, you'll be right at home. I Was asleep one night and was waken by a big roach crawling on my head. Haven't slept properly since then. Got up another night to use the bathroom and came out to a big roach just having a stroll on the ceiling upside down like spider man. Added a pic for reference. I couldn't imagine having to pay $135 for this.

My water was shut off at my house for repair so I decided to stay in lodging on Pearl Harbor until it was fixed. The room they put me in was super far away from the check in desk. Like five buildings Away. Tucked behind a daycare. Hard to find. And get this.. my room was on the THIRD FLOOR.. With no elevators.. which means I had to carry my two year old and all of our stuff up four flights of stairs. The room was decent. Clean, but small and with no way to adjust the air conditioning, So it was HOT. The worst part was the room was located in a building attached to what appeared to be " dorm rooms" There were a bunch of single military members up drinking until all hours of the night at the pavilion down from my room. Even for 67.00 per night I would not stay here again.

    Black mold

I just found this black mold in the main buildings ice machine, the only ice machine available to all guests. We've been using this ice for 2 weeks. Also, this mold in our bathroom was hiding behind the little trash can. I don't want to blame our sickness over the last week on this but it could definitely be the cause.

We enjoy the comfortable pool - it's not too deep ( I think because there's no lifeguard). and I liked that I could walk the length of the pool with my earbuds in to listen to music, without getting them wet! The girls spent hours in the pool, and my husband and I enjoyed lounging around, being lazy, reading, and swimming just enough to keep cool. Unfortunately, we weren't able to enjoy the karaoke on Sunday night because they were hosting a graduation party. But we got to enjoy breakfast the next morning - those famous, easy to make waffles, rice, scrambled eggs, cereal, yogurt, and Portuguese sausage, and oatmeal! We like the location too - it's nice to be able to walk to Foodland nearby for some night treats and daytime snacks. A nice, casual place to have lots of family time!

The Residence Inn Hotel is in a nice location which is behind Raising Cane's and close to shopping centers/food places & near the highway too! I love how they decorated the lobby and made it very cozy, homey, family like hotel. The check in line took a bit longer than expected but we were there a little after 3 which is check in for everyone so that was understandable. The staff were so friendly (even on a holiday) & they're so accommodating. The room was a perfect size, we're always looking for a kitchenette and this one was perfect for us for one night. There's 4 floors & they have free breakfast which let me tell you is a nice selection of food. The hotel also has a pool, a bar, a gym, a fire pit hangout area, another section area out the front door and to the left they have a grill area and seating. Outside of the hotel there are "food trucks" for your convenience as well. Right by the check in desk there's a cute little snack area that has the cutest selection of snacks that you can grab from and they add it to your room. I'm so glad that we found this cute & quaint hotel to ring in the New Year! We'll definitely be back again hopefully soon but you guys need to check them out! Thank you Residence Inn for your amazing service and hospitality!

This was our first time in Hawaii, so we figured if our hotel wasn't the best it would be ok, since we were not planning on spending much time in the hotel. It was such an amazing place and we got a great deal on it which made it even more amazing. As soon as you walk in, the front desk welcomed you, and you can tell they upkeep this hotel very well and take pride in their property. They do offer parking on the premises, however they do charge $40.00 a day, which i thought was pretty pricey but didn't have a choice we had rented a car. The girl at the front desk told us the area was safe and there is usually parking outside the hotel for free, we didnt pay for parking our whole stay! Our room was super clean , updated and super spacious! We got a call daily asking if we needed anything, you can get beach towels daily without issues as many as you like. The cook-to-order breakfast was simply AMAZING!! The food was great and the cooks are super nice and welcoming. The pool is a little on the smaller side but we didnt have the need to use it but its really nice. over all i would 100 percent stay here again. It was a wonderful experience and wonderful value! Well the simple answer is because we're all looking for something new and different to do once in a while with family and friends. And that exactly why we ended up at Wai Kai. It was a chance to hang out with our kids and friends before they returned to school after the winter break. The obstacle course was a ton of fun, we took advantage of the other water activities too, and we also opted to get a couple cabanas too so we could all hang out. It was perfect for our group of 20. Some of the restaurants were closed the day we went, but the takeout food at The Lookout was delicious. We also enjoyed some cold beverages too. BTW, the Nalo Lounge is a great option for $25/person if you want to store your belonging and take a shower before heading to your ext destination. For local families, take advantage of the kamaaina rates. The family is already excited about going back when the kids are back home this summer.

It was held in the Waialae Ballroom on a Saturday afternoon with lunch being served for all the guests. What a beautiful location where you can see the lush garden just outside, the pacific ocean was a few yards away when you're done eating, you're free to roam the area and see the beautiful architecture and structure of this fabulous hotel. I was not able to play tourist as this party had to end by 2pm and I had commitments thereafter. But for future hotel guests information, they also have dolphins for you to see. The food here was incredible and of good quality. Good for any type of gatherings of any size breakfast, lunch or dinner. Bartenders and service at the bar was even better! The amount of attention every table was receiving was amazing, glasses were never empty and always started with a full pour. Self parking was completely full, although valet parking service was a better idea. Keep in mind this is a full service 5 star property located in Kahala/Waialae. They offered us cold water and treated us like we were VIPs. Lucky for them my husband is a generous tipper! The beach is lovely there and we enjoyed it more than once. This is a luxury resort, not new, but the ground are beautiful. There is a Dolphin Quest experience available here. For a price one can swim, pet, and have different interactions worth the dolphins. You can watch the dolphins for nothing. Regardless of how you may feel about captive animals performing for human profit, this is one of the most humane, they say. The people doing the Quest looked happy. We went to two different bars. The pool bar is a beautiful setting, the cocktails were delicious, the service was adequate , the waiter was a jerk. He wore goofy, rainbow reflective sunglasses. I felt once he found out we were not regular guests, he did not care about pleasing us. I was a little embarrassed as we were treating our cousins from Missouri to the Aloha culture. He was adding a 22% service charge, so he didn't care. We had to ask for everything. We ordered 3 things to share, we asked for side plates. He pointed out there were liners under the bowls, 3 plates for 5 people. I was glad he added service as My husband and I usually over tip and I would have, and then resented it. For a fancy resort I was underwhelmed. 3 and 1/2 really but they get the extra half because the other staff we met were lovely.
