I decided to head to Key West a day early, without reservations, ready to sleep in my car if needed. I headed straight to the Coast Guard base, Trumbo Point, in hopes someone canceled and I lucked out! I thought the room would be like a barracks room, small with a single bed but I was quite surprised to see a regular hotel room with a single queen bed rather than two. The room has a coffee bar, mini fridge, microwave, TV, dresser, closet with iron board and fan. The bathroom is a full bath with tub, shower, and complementary toiletries. If the lounge had been open to serve food I'd give it 5 stars! If you have military ID I'd highly recommend you check out Navy Gateway for reservations.

Great accommodations! I'm retired AF and this was our first time in Key West. We stayed at Fly Navy on Palm Ave. Our rate was $75.00 a night and we got the suite. on M-Th, they have a continental breakfast for $5.00 similar to the regular commercial hotels. Across the parking lot is a mini mart. PROS: The room has great accommodations, equipped with a fridge, micro, Kuerig coffee and tea and paper plates and bowls. Free laundry facilities. The hallways fresh smelling CONS: You can easily hear doors slamming and neighbors talking in the hallway, front desk (lady) was not as helpful or knowledgeable regarding amenities in the surrounding area such as bike rentals and/or local eatery. Regardless, if my travels allow me back to the Keys, I will definitely come back. Highly Recommended!!!!

This is a review of the trailer units used for lodging on Trumbo point. If you are looking for an inexpensive way to stay in Key West for a couple of weeks, here it is! I'll say this up front - it's military guest housing, not a Hyatt or Ritz. Anyone who's been in the military knows that DoD skimps when it comes to investing in on-post guest lodging and recreation. If you can get past the fact that it's a trailer, then you'll be fine. That said, this wasn't a bad option for staying in the Keys for two weeks. $80 a night gets you two bedrooms, a living room, dining area, and fully furnished kitchen. If you're like our family then you don't eat out that much due to the high cost and unhealthy choices out there. A kitchen is ideal for our daily needs. The parking is good, which is a rarity in key west. The trailer area (or trailer park, if you'd like to call it that) is across the street from the post pool, which is open Wed-Sun 1100-1700. Free for active duty and kids under 5, all others it's $1. There's also the channel and some inlets nearby for fishing. I caught 3 Barracuda in less than 45 mins! It's about a 1 mile walk (1.1 miles actually) to Duval St. and all the action. A word of caution. Trumbo Point has gate guards and they are on the lookout for folks drinking and driving that are coming to the gate. Best to just walk if you know you are tying one on and ripping it up on any given night. There is no maid service, but you can grab fresh linens and towels 7 days a week at the front office. There's a dumpster at the end of the trailer row for dumping off trash. Also, be aware that these trailers are very close together, therefore, be courteous neighbors and don't make too much noise outside, I.e. Blasting music, drinking and talking too loud, etc. One complaint I do have is that our trailer had carpet in the living and bedrooms. Some trailers are tile throughout; I'd prefer that since who knows what has been on/in that carpet. Like I said, not a bad place if you go in there with reasonable expectation, I.e. It's DoD lodging. We will definitely be back at those prices, location and amenities.

The breakfasts for the price taste dismal and lower quantity. 2 eggs bacon, toast, and chopped potatoes a bit over $20 as most other dishes plus smaller sizes if you just want a donut or similar. The vibe I get is for breakfast this place is for guests who have a hotel package that includes free breakfasts. They also charge a 18% mandatory "service charge" and of course another line for the tip. We didn't do dinner here. I hope its better than the breakfast. 2. We booked under The Edge Chase Sapphire Reserve so its $100 property credit and free breakfasts for 2. When you consider "service charges" tips, taxes, and determine what the credit can be used for, it becomes a bit confusing. I know for a fact that laundry is not included, neither is the $50/day valet parking. Sort of an resort advantage to keep the guest guessing. Drinks food, spa i know are included with the $100. The valet guy was cool and informative. Considering the small island size and the cost of everything, this was a great stay. The room and balcony overlooking Malery Square plus the ocean and Sunset Island were fantastic. I have stayed at many locations over the years and this was by far the best. Pegasus on Duval is a dump. Both Hyatts are nice but on east side of the island so transportation becomes an issue. Do you really want to drive close to Duvall....if you can find a space, then pay for parking? This place is 2 blocks from Sloppy Joe's, Hogsbreath, next to Malerly Square and sunset pier. Walking distance to the hot spots at night.

Rooms are nicely decorated but not what you expect for $1000 a night. They are way over priced for the quality. Front desk staff is terrible. They said basically it is what it is and we have to deal with it. One night they moved us to another room and they were acting like they were doing us a favor. It was major problem for us. second night they moved us to our room which has broken AC And gave us boxed fan to cool off. Front desk manager is clueless and don't know how to handle issues and he has kids working for him who do not know how to handle anything. They are like teenagers. I would never ever stay there again and warn anyone not to there. Oh you will wake up 5am because of dumpster trucks getting the trash and it takes like 20 min. Another thing is their damn roosters , they start 4am and won't let you sleep. Jesus, it was 3 days of hell!

Check-in was busy when we arrived, but the staff remained friendly, patient, and accommodating. We've stayed here several times over the years, including during the renovations, so we've seen the resort through all its phases. It's wonderful to see everything almost completed, and the property looks great. Throughout every visit, the staff has always gone above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. One thing we've learned is that if you have a special request, just ask , they're happy to help whenever they can. Our two-bedroom suite was perfect for our family. We love the layout and found it incredibly comfortable. While many guests prefer the ocean-view rooms, we actually enjoy them, even with the occasional cruise ship in the harbor. Besides, you're in Key West! Take a walk and explore, you'll find gorgeous ocean views all around the island. The location truly couldn't be better. You're within walking distance of Duval Street, Mallory Square, great restaurants, shopping, and so many Key West attractions. We also had dinner at the newly decorated Lolita's Coastal Cocina, and it was absolutely delicious. A special thank you to Damir K., who has been wonderful throughout our stay. His hospitality, along with the rest of the staff, is one of the many reasons we keep coming back. Keep up the great work, Opal Key...we're already looking forward to our next visit!

We also enjoyed having pool access. The pool was definitely the highlight. It is saltwater and has separate adults-only and children's sections, which was a huge plus. The pool attendants were wonderful, and the pool manager did an exceptional job. Their service is the main reason I would give this hotel three stars instead of fewer. Unfortunately, housekeeping was very slow. Our room was not serviced until around 4 p.m. most days and was not serviced at all on Sunday. This was especially odd because housekeeping staff could be heard speaking loudly in the hallway very early in the morning. We also had one very uncomfortable experience at the hotel bar. A heavily intoxicated gentleman was yelling racial slurs while another woman played country music loudly from her phone. The bartender was alone, and there did not appear to be any security support nearby. We left immediately. Ironically, we had planned to attempt a little ghost-conjuring of our own one evening, given Key West's spooky reputation, but our plans were quickly interrupted by the very drunk man in the lobby yelling racial slurs. It was certainly not the supernatural encounter we had in mind. The hotel does have beach access, although we avoided the beach because of the significant seaweed issue, which was not the hotel's fault. Overall, Casa Marina has a beautiful pool, comfortable rooms, and a convenient location, but the housekeeping delays and bar incident made the experience feel inconsistent.

They have complimentary water (2 bottles) in your room. They have a mini fridge and options to buy snacks and liquor. They have fruit infused water next to the pool daily. You will stay hydrated. There is an honor bar next to the water; which has a few pricy options for a beer or other canned beverages. I did see plenty of people have their own drinks poolside. So, outside drinks are allowed at the pool...but no glass. They have two pools. I preferred the pool towards the back. There are lush beautiful plants all around you and you'll often see little lizards scurrying by the pool. They did not have a late checkout for my room but they were nice enough to hold my bags and have use of the pool while I waited for my friends to arrive. I would stay here again but during high season, the rooms get expensive. I loved room 3 but would love to someday stay in the cute cabin looking rooms up behind the pool. They have a covered porch, sitting room m, and a large bathroom. Overall, the service was solid. The grounds of the hotel are lovely, the bed was amazing, and the pools were a lovely respite from the crowded streets and heat of the city.
