I hate to ruin the 5 star streak she's got going, but I did not have the experience I was expecting. I would give one star, but she didn't charge me since I was unhappy, so I'll give two stars. First off, my eyebrows looked very wild going in, I have been growing them out for a little while in anticipation of someone (Navya) professionally cleaning them up for me. There were stray hairs everywhere, and I was really looking forward to a cleaner look (i.e. no stray hairs!). I am also going to a wedding next weekend that I'm a bridesmaid in, so I wanted to look extra cleaned up. When she was "done" she showed me the mirror and my eyebrows literally looked the exact same. There were still stray hair everywhere in places I didn't want them and there were no clean lines, they did not look good. I am super low maintenance and like the natural look, but if I wanted them this natural, I wouldn't have come in to get them professionally done. I kept asking her to fix certain things that I did not like and she refused saying "as an artist I can''t do that, I just can't". I wasn't asking for anything crazy, just make it look clean and remove the damn stray hairs! She kept saying that if I wanted stick eyebrows I should go to an Asian place. It felt very condescending and rude. She kept telling me that she was leaving the stray hairs there so they could grow in fuller, but trust me, they are plenty full, I did not want giant bush eyebrows and she would not give me what I wanted. She kept telling me to put eye shadow in the areas that were patchy and has stray hairs until they grow in and I kept explaining that I am very low maintenance and will not realistically be putting eye show in my eyebrows ever, especially not as a daily routine. Not everyone has the same haircut, and not everyone has the same damn eyebrows. It was just frustrating. Now I'm going to this wedding that I'm in and my eyebrows look like crap. So beware, if you want to look a certain way and she doesn't agree, she will not do it. read more

I am pretty eyebrow obsessed, which is hard to believe because a) most of the world really doesn't care that much about eyebrows-- rightfully so, and b) my eyebrows never actually look that good. They look kinda like... eyebrows. Which is hair on your face. So I don't know what it is I am expecting from them, but there it is. I've gone to Kiss N Makeup several times and liked it, but my friends were pretty unimpressed with what $60-ish dollars and painful plucking were getting me. Don't get me wrong, I was well taken care of, but they looked like... eyebrows. Enter Navya. Spoiler alert: my eyebrows still look like eyebrows. But I felt like I was in competent and kind hands, she took the time to talk to me about a long-term plan for the brows (for context, I don't have a long-term plan for my life), and the price was reasonable. I found Navya off of Yelp, and I actually had to run back and open my account back up to write this. I had been letting my brows grow out for a while, but had no idea where to go so someone could take them and shape them. Navya did a great job, and I love her technique. She leaves little bits of brow in just the right spots so that your brows can actually grow into the shape you want them too. To me, that is true brow artistry, and I cannot wait to see how mine grow out and I cannot wait for my follow up visit with her. The environment was also super relaxing, I went about the rest of my day so calmly. (UPDATE) Navya has been my go to ever since. She pays SUCH attention to detail. My brows have transformed -- I didn't even know they were that bad until 2 months of Navya's magic. They went from these thin, overly strung sticks to (if I may brag) brows that Lily Collins would be proud of. Highly, highly recommend Navya. I just moved into the same building where Navya's studio is located, so I decided to book a facial with her because of her wonderful reviews on Yelp and her close proximity. It was the best beauty decision I made since I moved to Austin from Chicago, as it was the best facial I ever had! I felt so pampered, and her facial techniques are top-notch. I have had several facials in Chicago, and Navya blew them out of the water. She is also very welcoming, professional, and genuine. It doesn't hurt that her studio is also very elegant and soothing. I am planning to make an appointment for my eyebrows next (she even removed a couple hairs that she felt needed to go during my facial). I have been meaning to write this review for so long because Navya is the best. I have "full brows" (meaning they need a lot of maintenance) and Navya gives them a great shape. I get tons of compliments. I've also gotten laser with Navya and I have to say it is awesome. If you are tired of waxing/shaving, it is totally worth it-- very effective. I'd always thought about it but never took the plunge, and Navya convinced me. I'm so glad she did. But all this aside, Navya is just the best. The truth is, you spend a lot of time with the person who does your waxing and lasering. A sad statement about life in my 30s, but I don't think I have many girlfriends who I see at least once a month, despite our best efforts. But I see Navya that often-- and the fact that she is such a fun, warm person makes that a pleasure. I always look forward to seeing her and catching up. I LOVE Navya. I love her! I went for a brow wax with my kid...a real bonding experience. She was so cool! We had texted a few times when making the appointment. I have only been to Navya twice for a brow wax but I see a big difference in my brows already. She's definitely a fan of the thicker look, which I love. Thick, but clean. Navya hits that right on. She also told me to start applying castor oil to my brows every night to help with the thickness. I've been doing it for a month now and what! It totally works.
