Any city I go to, I eat at the local Indian restaurants and order biryani for sure. I tried numerous restaurants in several cities over the last 10 years. But the mutton dum biryani from this restaurant happens to be hands down, the best one I have tasted outside of Hyderabad, India. Coupled with mirchi ka salan that gives you the authentic notes of what only few handpicked chefs in hyderabad could achieve. The taste of the biryani is consistent (I ordered same dish over 10 times now). It is not too spicy, which is good because it does not dominate the inherent flavor of the biryani. The mutton is cooked so well, that the pieces separate out even with gentle pressure. This is one dish that can truly take you back in time (and place). My review is for mutton biryani in specific. Juiciest chicken kabab I have ever had in my life, HANDS DOWN, NO EXAGGERATION. I came here on a whim and honestly just wanted a proper cup of chai, but something told me to order something small (despite having dinner maybe 2 hours earlier, heh). Got 1 order (2-pc) of chicken kabab, 1 butter naan and a cup of tea. Took about 10-15 minutes for my food to be ready, which was a good sign since it was being made fresh. The kabab was SO tender, flavorful and JUICY, with the perfect amount of kick to it. Butter naan was amazingly soft and fluffy with none of those dry crusty spots that we all hate. Chai was DELICIOUSLY creamy. Owner is very friendly, great to chat with while waiting for your mouth-watering food. I will be back, likely tomorrow. read more

Really tasty food! We loved everything from the desi menu the only thing we would not order again was the chilli chicken as it seems Chinese food is not their forte anyway. The chana and aloo palak were so delicious and I loved that they were not dripping with oil just very well made. I am extremely picky when it comes to Kebabs since its a tough balance between taste and being tender while retaining the taste. Best Lamb Kebabs I've have ever had in Charlotte. An order with 2 sides is enough for 2 people and the price is really good for the quality of fresh grilled food. I picked Naan (although I would get an extra naan ) with spinach and potatoes. So good! Highly recommend it and cannot wait to try more menu items. Too many restaurants charge at least twice as much as this place and the taste is not even close to this. How can you beat the price? Worth the 30 minute drive and the desserts are a perfect finish to a great meal. I would eat here daily if I lived nearby. Enjoy! read more

Eat their Dum Biryani...TODAY, and you'll be glad you did! So much flavor...just perfect, in my opinion. I clearly remember that the chicken they had used in my bowl was young, and super-tender. I'm yet to try their menu extensively, but it's good from what I've seen so far. The place is definitely casual, and it's sandwiched between a grocery store and a meat shop (same ownership, I believe)....so it has a different feel from a restaurant contained within four walls. The owner, Ashraf, is a really nice man and works hard to deliver great quality food along with good service. If you're in a rush, it might make sense to order ahead, as they're upfront about the time they may need to put a meal together for you. Food may seem pricey, but I'm not sure that's unique to these guys. I'm starting to get used to shelling a little more for my meals here in Charlotte! read more

You order and wait for your food. Lady took my phone and I waited and waited. My husband waited for me while I went to the adjoining grocery. I would pop my head from time to time to see if it was ready, but nothing. I finally went to the counter and she said it has been ready. I asked why she didn't call me, and she completely ignored my question. I also think she charged me for the big portion but it looked pretty small to me. When she asked me if I wanted a receipt, I said yes and she didn't give me one! So, was this because she didn't speak English? The food was good, but service was extremely terrible and I believe it was overpriced for plastic utensils and a tray. It wasn't worth my time. Next time I'll go up the street and get much faster service with decent prices. read more

I got a biriyani and it was like plain rice with mutton piece and I called them to complain .. the lady ther is sayin everyone is eating and only you're complaining stuffs.. so I took the biriyani and asked them to Taste.. she is sayin biriyani will be good one day and bad one day .. as a customer we need to adjust and not complain nu.. cos it seems she does the same when she goes to other restaurant like Persia or passage to India.. it's a rule to adjust it seems and not to complain .. can you believe it.. this is jus too much ... We've ordered carryout from Nawab's Kebabs multiple times and have never been disappointed. We always get the Chicken 65 (deep fried cubes of juicy, spicy chicken). Also good is their kadhai chicken (very spicy and peppery gravy, chicken is super tender). We've tried their mixed grill family pack; I would recommend the chicken malai if you aren't a huge spicy food person, and the tandoori chicken if you are. The portion sizes are fair for the price, and you don't have to wait long for your order (usually less than 25 min). Will continue to return when craving authentic, spicy south asian food! read more

I ordered the chicken malai boti kebab. It was perhaps the best chicken kebab I've ever had. It was perfectly cooked, with strong flavors from the cream sauce. With the sides of naan and aloo gobi, there was enough food for two meals. I want to come back soon and try a lamb kebab. read more

I ordered for my family of seven as a special treat. We had two of the family mix grill , 4 order of the chicken somoasa, and two vegi dishes as a side item with some Naan. Alhamdulilah everything was so delicious, and we had enough left for lunch the next day. If you have not tried their chicken somosas you need too. They are hands down the best I have had all throughout Charlotte, so big and flaky. Could use a little less salt in the filling, but so close to perfection, especially with their sweet tamarind sauce, Yum!! Don't take my word for it, you must try for your self!!! We moved from Philly to Greensboro many years back and were looking for the right Indian-Pakistani Kabab place similar to Asian Halal in Philly. I also grew up in Bahrain with excellent mideastern/Mediterranean (Lebanese/Turkish/Iranian food) as well was south Asian (Pakistani) grill food. We used to frequent a place in Bahrain called 'Dreamland Restaurant' in my childhood that served Rumali roti and chicken tikka (over there this means grilled chicken quarters and breasts not cubes like here in US). Anyways, we visited Charlotte yesterday and ordered Nawab Kebabs for takeout ... it has the same format as Asian Halal in Philly (grocery store, butcher shop and take away restaurant) but in comparison, it is larger and nicer (in all 3 aspects). I had high expectations when I received the food: the aroma of grilled meats filled the car and I couldn't wait till I got home to Greensboro to try it. I bought the mixed grill platter, tandoori leg quarters, naan without butter, mutton biryani and lamb Harlem. Let me tell you: everything was delicious including the sauces. The kababs were fantastico! The naan was spot on: similar to Asian halal in Philly and better than the generic naans you get at Indo-pak restaurants. If you want to order whole tandoori chicken, you have to order a day in advance. I wish we had something like this in Greensboro - a good Indo-pak grill place but alas, we don't. It is worth the trip to Charlotte once a month just to order from here!! Ditch your unhealthy southern fried chicken with skin and come here for some delicious, healthy, spicy grilled chicken without skin...thank me later! Had chicken seekh and malai kebabs, chicken biryani and bhagaray baingan here today along with naan. Everything tasted great. Seekh kebabs were a bit spicy for me but full of authentic flavor. Malai kebabs were just perfect. Biryani is a bit different than what I am used to making at home using Shan spices. It looks plain but is quite flavorful and tender. Bhagaray baingan were pretty good and naan were great. All in all, a great place for desi eats near UNC Charlotte. read more
