My application was denied because of human resources from my employment despite the property email verification of employment length of income. Submitting pay stubs, 50.00 application fee, and 100.00 to hold an apartment. Brandon Sibert from the leasing office is an employee who is nice/nasty and rude and falsely accused me of blaming them at fault for my denial application. He has slick, unprofessional, and inconsiderate behavior without reviewing an explanation. What do they offer? There's no central air/heat. Purchase a window from the 1980s air conditioner to cool one room and a charge of 175.00 per window. My buddy lives there, and there are big rats. Roaches. My rent is high but nice and comfortable with a dishwasher. So it's a good thing. No worries. Treat people the way you want to be treated. Oh, just found out the storage is not secure. I'll give them one star because the property is affordable and is well maintained on the outside. The parking is horrible the office staff is extremely rude and unprofessional. Maintenance is ok but be home when they come or your problems won't be solved. I'm on year 2 here and I hope this is my last year. They are developing new establishments in the area and that's a plus however the surrounding areas are extremely dangerous! My neighbors were older so it was mostly quiet. I've lived here over thirty years. The rent is very affordable and until the last two management companies(Vision and Jeffrey Charles) the place was heaven. The board of directors has rehired the property manager from the glory days, it will take awhile to turn around, but it's already started. Do not be afraid to live here. They are hiring new maintenance people there's new supervision. It is my personal opinion that the previous two management companies were trying to drive Naylor into bankruptcy for whatever reason they will be out. As a prior security officer at this property, I would not recommend this property. I worked the evening and night shifts and had a gun pointed in my face twice. Threats from kids doing things in the parking lots I had to report for the sake of the tenants was a requirement of management. Until they ramp up their policies, its not a good place to be. On behalf of my sister who has told me that her ceiling is still hanging, even though the damage was reported a week ago. She has sent 4 emails and has inquired once in person. My sister is still trying to be "peaceable" I am so angry, I am so tired if them treated my sister so horribly. I don't understand how the Property Manager gets away with treating tenants like they are trash, leaving them to live under these type of conditions. My sister is so frustrated, she is dealing with other personal issues and doesn't feel like going through this and shouldn't have to. If you are looking for housing that value their tenants, respect their tenants, care about the welfare of their tenants, if you are looking for experienced, professional, compassionate, friendly, approachable adults who run a very large community of apartments with concern for their leasing tenants, don't move to Naylor Gardens. If you are looking to purchase a unit, you're good, they will take care of you. This place is run by high level ratchet thinking and behavior women and the Board Members are their teachers. I lived here for 2 years. I enjoyed it at first but as time went on, I started to see that they could care less about their resident. my house was broken into, they didn't care. I told them I was being stalked/harassed by an ex and requested my apartment be changed. Once again, they didn't care, they told me they couldn't help me, that wasn't a legitimate reason to be moved to a new unit. my neighbors upstairs were ridiculously loud everyday and I complained serveral times. I wrote letters and all, still nothing. So I decided to move altogether, now they are holding my deposit hostage. It's sad because I was a good resident. I was honest and communicative and paid rent on time ever month. I don't un why I'm being treated like a terrible resident. read more

Yeah you can go ahead and ignore that previous review of mine, what an absolute disaster of a neighborhood. The front office is almost impressive in their nonchalant attitude and complete inability to do anything. I think they may be allergic to phones. They'll smile to your face and "take a message" but I assume they slide that right into their special filing cabinet (the trash can). The apartments themselves are infested with roaches, the walls swell and crack from the jigsaw style plaster job, there is no enforcement of the 80% carpet rule so you do not want to live below a family with children. People stand out in the street and yell and honk their horns to get their friends' attention, again have they ever heard of a phone? Plan your life around getting parking, it's a fight although some streets are better than others. To their credit, the grounds are well kept. Other than that...critical level yikes. read more

I'm writing a 2 star review only because it's affordable for a first start and the landscaping is at tractable. The inside of these apartments are another story. There are out dated white Cabinets that's been painted over endless times so they don't close. Large roaches come from under the radiators, front door... they crawl inside your cabinets and come from out the corners inside of them. Roaches were living in my fridge and I asked multiple times for them to take it out, they never did... I killed it with borax. The boarders inside the unit aren't sealed so bugs crawl through that as well. There are various size roaches. From tiny to very large, like the length of a middle finger. I don't suggest moving here until they do renovations. The maintenance ppl have come in Without leaving notices prior or after entering. It's been a while mess. I've been here under 2 years. I now absolutely hate living here. The complex appears to go through spells of high vacancy and if you move in at that time, usually when they are offering amazing specials, you will think you've found the last decent and affordable haven DC. The apartments are spacious and the grounds well maintained but these buildings were also build in the 40's and so the walls are paper thin by today's' standards. Management tries to account for this by requiring tenants to have 80% of their floors carpeted and observe quite hours from 11PM - 7AM when residents are asked not to play their televisions and music too loudly. They, however, don't do enough to enforce this and even if you get them to address the noise issue with one tenant, they continue to lease to other disrespectful individuals who are equally dismissive of this common considerations. Great location. Quiet with lighted. Price is great for being in Washington, DC. Staff are helpful. But being in Washington DC and the cabs you can't call them to pick you up. The only company you can call take up to three hour for pick-up. There very little delivery service to your house or apartment. Taxi delivery dues not go in DC. When I found a job in DC and couldn't take commuting from Baltimore anymore, I knew I was buying in Naylor Gardens; a friend who'd lived there for 20 years couldn't say enough about the place. I'm SO glad there was a spacious 3 bedroom apartment up for sale at that moment-- for $100,000. This place is as quiet as the country, my neighbors are nice people-- government workers, teachers, police, etc. We have neighborhood cookouts, and deliver Thanksgiving dinners to the elderly. . It's a co-op, so I'm a part-owner of the property, & the reasonable monthly fee goes for taxes, insurance, and maintenance-- not profits for a landlord. If my apartment has any maintenance problem, a member of the staff shows up at my door by next day at the latest. When my hand-me-down refrigerator broke, they even came over & gave it a go. We have our own security patrol, although crime consists of occasional broken car windows. The #36 bus runs through the neighborhood, and we're 5 minutes to the Naylor Rd. Metro. There's a Safeway within walking distance, and a huge Giant 15 minutes away. Our board looks out for ways to make life better-- we have a community Zipcar membership, and we're looking into solar heat for the boiler rooms. My living room window looks out on giant oak trees and evergreens, and the shade keeps it 10 degrees cooler inside in the summer. If you like to landscape, you have the opportunity-- I have a plot for herbs underneath a window, and my friend has a flower garden complete with banana tree. The staff keeps the grounds planted with a variety of flowers & shrubs. There are also rental apartments available, but I can't believe more buyers aren't taking advantage of the great prices and amenities we have! read more
