We had a typical handyman job - small but required work in very high space. After calling many, most presented high cost regardless of the (minor) job just to get in, we were delighted to find Nestor of NDBC who asked relevant questions, suggested a reasonable response time to perform the work and of course asked a fair price for the job. He was aware of a coming snow storm and was proactive to reschedule ahead of it. He came right on time, hung our picture window motorized blind (16' high) perfectly, and we were so pleased with the result we paid him more than he asked - this was a great service experience for us. Overall a terrible experience and if they could get a zero they would get just that. They were contacted by our landlord to replace carpet with tile after two water pipes broke in the basement of the townhouse my girlfriend and I are living in. All communication was done through our landlord about when they would be there, etc and that was fine. They showed up and ripped up the carpet after we had moved some of the larger pieces of furniture and other items out of the way. It was then decided that all one type of tile was going be installed. Prior to this, half the basement was carpet and the other half was tile. This meant that they would have to break up the existing tile after the carpet was ripped up. Obviously there would be a large amount of dust that would be raised by breaking up tile. These guys never brought any plastic or tarps to cover our furniture or anything else. Nor did they ask if we wanted to move photos or other pieces of artwork from the walls to keep them from getting dust covered or damaged. Once they started putting down the new tile it seemed that most of the time they were supposed to be working it seemed like they were spending more time running their mouths. There were 3 guys at the house working and there were 2 days that they were here for over 12 hours and did not complete the entire basement. The basement is not that large as it is only a townhouse. I also noticed they were throwing the grout water into a snowbank that was in our front yard. Now that the snow has melted there is a long trail of dried grout that is in the yard and will have to be taken care of. I have posted a photo of this. Also, there were many grout spots on the walls that were not cleaned or taken care of prior to them leaving. I have also posted a photo of this. Finally, while they were installing the tile in the downstairs bathroom the toilet paper dispenser was knocked partially out of the wall. This photo is also posted. We did not find out about this damage until after the project was done. Common sense would think that if something got damaged or messed up in anyway you would tell the people. I understand with any construction job or repair work there are things that are going to happen. It would have been appreciated if our stuff and property would have been taken better care of. Honestly this was a poor experience all around and if my girlfriend or I would have hired them directly they probably wouldn't have been working for us past the first day. read more

We hired NDBC Handyman services for what turned out to be four projects. the first was a small update/modernization of our family room, removing old paneling, putting up drywall, new molding, painting, and installing overhead lights. We were quite pleased with the results. After that we continued with renovation of three bathrooms. NDBC pointed out rotten floor boards that had to be replaced. They were much larger projects than anticipated. Floors had to be torn out, two walls came down. Yes, there was dust, but there were tarps on the floor, down the steps, to the front door, plastic over most of the bedroom furniture. There were some small details that we took issue with, but when pointed out, they were corrected. We were pleased with the finished bathrooms. Our feeling is that NDBC does a good job, but some supervision is helpful. They work hard, and are dependable. When they are talking to each other, they are working at the same time. They were not idle at any time and worked late when trying to finish a certain part, such as finishing the drywall rather than leaving it half done for the next day.
