I hired Marines Services Company to paint my home and it was a disaster. After four attempts they still couldn't get it right: wrong paint color, repainted over the electrical box (twice) making it inaccessible, left areas unpainted or poorly covered, failed to clean up or finish corrections, and damaged the garage door. I complained repeatedly, paid full price, and ultimately fixed the poor work myself. Tom Porter responded quickly and visited several times, but he couldn't directly supervise the crew and the quality never improved. I chose them to support a veteran-owned business, but none of the actual painters were marines, and a language barrier caused repeated misunderstandings (e.g., I warned them about the electrical box/danger of it being inaccessible and they painted over it again, which I ended up fixing myself). They referred me to Flooring Experts -- also awful. Installers did an incorrect install and had to redo the job twice, broke a closet door, and a worker was dishonest and argumentative. After weeks of blame-shifting between the two companies the door was replaced and the carpet fixed, but only after months of hassle. After this experience, I would not recommend nor will I ever contract either company for any work again. Hopefully this helps others not go through the same frustration and pain I went through. I also hope Marines Services Company gives serious consideration to making business changes to better represent its presented business model. Expected more from marines. read more

We have used Marines for several home repairs and projects in the past few years, including installing battery powered backup sump pumps to installing a toilet to fix a pretty serious leak that caused water damage. We recently came home from a long weekend away to find water damage on the foyer ceiling right below the master bedroom bath toilet. I called Marines and they were finishing a job nearby and a plumber came in 10 minutes! No scheduling, etc. He saw that it was going to require mitigation and an insurance claim before they could fix the plumbing, and the restoration company (which was working on their other job) was there in another 10 minutes, and the claim with insurance was under way in about an hour after us finding the leak. Amazing. They worked with us to fix the source of the leak, all for a reasonable price. They also have a restoration service, so after everything was dried and the leak fixed, could replace the drywall and paint. Their office has been accessible and responsive. They are not all vets, but have many. read more

I asked for quotes from multiple companies for a small plumbing job. I had two DIY poke-a-hole saddle valve lines going to a humidifier and fridge drinking water. They both were clogged from mineral build up so I wanted proper stop valves and pipes installed and get the saddle valves removed. The quotes I received had such a wide gap! Some companies looked super professional and for that, they asked a lot! Some were one-guy operations and I couldn't tell if I'd have leaks the next day. Marines Service Co. plumber was right in the middle both price-wise and professionalism-wise. I cannot speak for the entire company but at least the plumber scheduled to me was pretty new. I'm still giving it 5 stars because the job was done properly - no leaks. There is a 2-year parts warranty and a lifetime craftsmanship warranty so that alone deserves a 5 star already. Most companies came by to offer quotes and left. The guys giving quotes and the actual plumber are usually different. The Marines Service Co. plumber gave the quote and said he could finish the work in two hours starting right away. I had no other reason to delay as the price was fair. The company doesn't deserve me docking any stars for it but the plumber installed different types of stop valves. Check the pictures. I told him I wanted the same look. He said those were all he had. It didn't look like a big deal then but it's now triggering my OCD. They need to match! I have the option of replacing it myself now that the main pipes are crimped, sure! But that'd void the craftsmanship warranty. I might end up replacing it but for now, I don't want to mess with shutting the water off, draining the entire house, and working with leaking water so I'm going to have to leave it as is. Heed my lesson, please. Get them things to match the first time! read more

Marine Services came out to give is a water heater quote and while we did not use them for the purchase and installation of our water heater, they were incredibly professional and showed up when they said they would. Moreover, the day prior, we found out we had a gas leak and so while they were there to quote the water heater, they did quote us on replacing our MaxiControl (the part that controls the flow/pressure of gas to the inside of the house). Their quote was not unreasonable at all and we ended up using them to install the part and reconnect our gas inside the home. Josh, our technician, was great. He completed the work within 1.5 hours and restored the gas to our home, which had been without heat and hot water since the day before. A few days after the work was done, I received a call to follow up on our satisfaction.
