Was not good. Potato salad was from GFS. Macaroni & cheese was not prepared like good BBQ Mac & Cheese. It was like it was made from a box. The rib tips were over cooked, dry & fatty. The sauce was nothing special either. There was no real flavor to anything I got. Even the sweet tea wasn't sweet like it should be in a BBQ place. Not sure how they stay open. No 5 stars here because I finished my food in 2 1/2 minutes. The portions were so small as for a child or small women. Not what I imagine when I'm thinking of BBQ. The food is good quality. Pulled chicken was juicy. The sauce was tasty and new to me. But I can't get over the size of the tiny sliders and tiny mac n cheese. It was only 12 dollars not including tip. Table was rocking and not stable. Owner begged us to post it on social media which I don't use that much so it was off putting. Appreciate the effort of trying to be personal though. Ok, lesson learned, when visiting smaller, non-chain BBQ places, get there early. The food is really good here and they were out of a couple of things. But, what we had was great. I had the pulled pork, but had jerk seasoning on it. WOW!! Definitely recommend it! Good portion size, too. Side of fries and slaw. Wife started with the tortilla soup. I tried it, then kept trying it and trying it. Next time, if that's the soup of the day! Yum! She also had the pulled chicken, no bun. Good stuff! They only had the peach cobbler for dessert, but again, busy day at a bbq joint, the good stuff goes fast. When we first had walked in we were immediately seated, although the restaurant is smaller the service is good. One worker did put her hands over our drinks when serving them.The workers were very respectful, and the place was clean. The food didn't have the biggest portions. The best thing has to be the ribs or the brisket. Their meats and specialties are flavor packed. We were given plastic sliver ware, and drinks out of the can, but they were nice and cold. read more

The food was fresh and good. My whiting sandwich was yummy but if you don't like a lot of bones then you won't like whiting! It was really crispy so I hardly noticed. Others in our group got the pork bbq and said it was really good. The greens were salty for me but others didn't mind. Small place and we were there at an off time. But Neal was there - and he always jumps into the kitchen if he's short handed. Be sure and check if he is open - he is sometimes elsewhere on a catering job! read more

Ate at Neal's on 3rd Street in Hamilton for the firrst time and the ribs are fantastic, especially with the spicy barbecue sauce. Macaroni and cheese, as well as the baked beans, were also excellent. Others in our party really enjoyed their pulled chicken and pulled pork. Prices are very reasonable and they were not too crowded, although they deserve to be! For a down-home experience with the friendliest staff I have seen in a long time, I could not recommend Neal's more. read more

A friend of mine asked me out to dinner to continue our bbq tour of the NW Cincinnati suburbs, a place he said was well worth it. We arrived at about 6 on a cold Friday, a few people in the building, we took a seat and the woman working the stand came by to take our order. This was a confusing process though - I wanted a chicken sandwich topped with coleslaw, same as the pulled pork could be topped for $2, however they wanted to charge me $3 for an "additional side" - for whatever reason they couldn't explain this for me, they insisted there was only one way to do this. So whatever, I went with the pulled chicken sandwich, the cooked greens, and a side of bbq beans (as long as I have to pay full price for a side I want to get a good one!). My friend ordered a pulled pork sandwich, coleslaw, and his friend a fried whitey sandwich with mac n cheese. Took a little bit for our order to arrive, but when it did things looked pretty good - big scoop of chicken on a bun, enough sauce to keep it moist, the sides were large enough to be worth a few dollars, but the flavor remained to be seen. Unfortunately that wasn't as impressive. The greens were watery and didn't have much distinct flavor, no real draw. The chicken was bland on it's own, and couldn't stand up to the sugary sweet sauce, which also made the baked beans more of a dessert than a side. To be honest, maybe I'm just picky with my bbq, because everyone else loved their meal, including a stellar review of the fried white fish, but it just didn't bear out for me. The owner was present when we were there, and he thanked everyone for coming, which is nice, but not enough to make up for the meal I had. read more

We live in Cincinnati but when we go to Hamilton to visit my son and we're looking for some good ribs for barbecue we go to Neil's. Neil's sauces that he has are excellent I bought some home to use my own grill. You will see Neal's smoker trailer out special occasions around Hamilton Fairfield. Sadly I wanted to support this local restaurant because it is one of the very few Black-owned businesses in the area. But after giving this place a chance multiple times, the food and service were mediocre. My son had dropped some paper from the straw on the floor, and the waitress said, " you ain't at home pick that up" isn't that the point of eating out, not having to clean up after yourself? To be honest, I still left a tip. My wife ordered a salad, and it did not come with all of the items listed. My wife mentioned it to the worker, and she came out with a Kroger bag of toppings that we unrecognizable crumbs and dumped them on her salad. There are not many options for bbq in Hamilton, and I was hoping this was a place we could regularly enjoy as a family. read more

The portion size was good the sauce was ok but sauce can only cover so much. As busy as it was maybe we caught them on a bad night. we tried this place a few different times and the wings when you first take a look at them do not look very appealing but when you taste them you suddenly forget all about looks and remember the old saying (don't judge a book from it's cover!) because they were packed with enormous amounts of flavor! the ribs were good only once mayyyybe twice i could say the word edible. it literally tasted like chemicals. the smell of fire or lighter fluid or SOMETHING was sooooo strong it was unbearable and the taste was.... like chemicals is all i can describe. we realized that the MAIN thing with this place was INCONSISTENCY and we're very glad that we at least DID have the opportunity to see the potential they have because everything we ordered from the wings to the ribs etc on the first night was absolutely wonderful and delicious but honestly after that... we had so much wasted food and wasted money because our entire family felt like it was not edible. my husband and eldest son tried it a few more times after that while we chose something else and once out of those times they said it was great! other times awful and more wasted food and money. inconsistent. so with that being said, it doesn't mean that your family will have a terrible experience just because ours did. we are very thankful for being able to have seen how amazing the food actually can be and was the first time! we just can't afford to gamble on taking a chance on "will it be good ever again " or not because as we know times are extremely difficult for all families right now. i would have definitely given all 5 stars and an amazing review if only we could have had another amazing experience but as stated it didn't happen for our family again and i surely hope that you at least try them and hopefully you will be fortunate enough to have a wonderful dinner! read more

We were in Hamilton, Ohio and decided to try BBQ Ribs at Neal's Famous BBQ. When we entered we were greeted warmly and were given a great glass of ice tea. The Ribs came next with Fries and Coleslaw and Green Beans. The Ribs were excellent with the meat falling off the bones. The sauce was not to sweet and was not to tart. Portions were really good and the price was extremely reasonable also. The Coleslaw was the sweet type and the Fries were big and hot and fresh. The Green Beans were cooked with bacon slices. Overall I would give Neal's 5 Stars in quality and quantity with service also receiving another 5 stars. read more
