My husband, baby, and I went here for a late lunch. We were seated immediately on a Tuesday around 3:00pm. The restaurant was great about letting us having her stroller table side next to us. They had plenty of outdoor seating available, but we chose to sit inside near the retractable window that was down. Our server was very attentive and brought our food out in a timely manner. We took our high school kids out for a nice dinner and unfortunately had a disappointing experience from start to finish. Our whipped ricotta appetizer arrived without the honey drizzle described on the menu. When we mentioned it to the waitress, there was no apology -- just "I can get it for you on the side." We then tried ordering a half‑bottle of Pinot Noir and were told they were out. We also asked for a half‑bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon and were told that wasn't available either, so we gave up on ordering wine altogether. We ordered fried ravioli and were told they were out as well, and this was only at 6pm. One of our kids received a different menu than the rest of us, which caused confusion when ordering a vegetarian entrée as it contained pancetta and we asked our child to order without pancetta. We pointed out the menu variation to the waitress and she did not say thanks for pointing out or that we will make sure it's corrected or anything at all. After a long wait for our entrées, the manager stopped by. We explained the series of issues, but his only response was, "But everything came out ok?" before walking away. No acknowledgment, no apology, or let me make it up to you but doing XYZ. Maybe it was just an off night, but the number of issues combined with the lack of customer service made for a disappointing experience. Ambience is lively and laid back. Our server was attentive. Saturday evening at Neapoli, reservation for 6 guests at 7pm taken and honored. The restaurant is beautiful, decorated nicely. Popular restaurant as it was hopping. Plenty of metered parking in the street in addition to municipal parking lots. The food is very good if and when you receive it. Our waitress did her best but the kitchen has some serious issues that need to be addressed if they desire to be a Red Bank staple. We ordered appetizers, half of them came out the other half never came out. I brought this to the attention of the waitress and Tom who was in a suit, not sure what his position is there. Thankfully Neapoli is a BYOB and with our friends around us, waiting is not the end of the world as we are enjoying adult beverages. The meatballs and Italian eggrolls were solid, arrived after an hour of waiting. The eggplant and arancini never came out, at one point the waitress asked if we could have them with our entrees, no they never came out. The entrees came out one at a time, one guest waited a solid 5 minutes for her entree while everyone else had theirs. Not a great experience from a service perspective. No offer for dessert, coffee, etc. I spoke to other tables and they had similar challenges. The shame of it all is that the food is good. Ownership and Management needs to take a long look at their processes and make some changes if they want to be successful. Competition is stiff, There are a lot of Italian restaurants in the area who offer a better experience. I wish them luck. read more

I've been to this place in the past quite a few times, but it's been over a year. The food came out cold for two of us (we both ordered Lobster Ravioli). The other two guests ordered veal and both tasted good but were only slightly above room temp. After being flagged, the manager (or so I think) took our meals to reheat since no one came to see how our food was. After reminding them we were still waiting 20 minutes our food returned only slightly warm (leading me to believe it was under a warmer again). The waitress did apologize when she remembered to come back to our table, but never returned in time to see if our experience was going well. By the way, she opened my wine and took the cork. Nice place in Red Bank on a side street located very close to a big parking lot. Pricing i would say was average for the area and on the reasonable side compared to some. Portions were good size and our only real complaint was with the entrees. The food was not hot. It was luke warm at best. My branzino said it had a lemon wine sauce and overall it was pretty dry. The branzino was cooked excellent and was moist but there was no real sauce to speak of. The clams were plain and cold they were steamed with no sauce or anything. The skirt steak was cooked and seasoned perfectly but was lukewarm. Both dishes had broccoli rabe and was not seasoned at all. No garlic and oil. Blanched in hot water and plated. I would come back and give the place another shot. The pastas looked good and like I said the food was good just didnt come served very hot and lacked alittle sauce. Give it s chance. Been a customer for twenty years. Solid BYOB Italian restaurant with a veteran staff. Owner and general manager are always present. Ownership changed 9 years ago. Very good fresh pastas. I'm totally a fan of their main marinara sauce. Sometimes I've asked for it on the side. My wife and I have liked the seafood pasta panadora. I tend to order a lot of salads and I've tried most of them. My favorite is their chopped salad ($18). Sometimes I get it with the chicken option. I really like their own salad dressing. It's a little different. The Greek salad is really good too. The braised slow cooked short ribs, one of their longtime speciality items. Very popular, tender. Their lunch menu is very reasonable. Surprisingly good burgers and sandwiches. I'm particularly a fan of their tuna sandwich, with several variations. I have found the service to always be excellent. I noticed their bread has been outstanding. Owner said they invested in a new oven from Italy. Their homemade carrot cake is excellent, and I'm fussy when it comes to carrot cake, my favorite Great location in downtown Red Bank on Wallace Street, which is not busy. There is municipal parking nearby. Keep in mind you generally have to pay in Red Bank unless you're willing to walk a bit. Also, a special mention goes out to their special events hosting. I've been to a lot of parties here, small and some large affairs. They scale nicely to what the needs of the event are. It can be simple buffet, or a large sit-down dinner. read more

This review is long overdue, but for no other reason than life got in the way. The team at Neapoli is incredible! We hosted my parents' surprise 50th Anniversary Party for about 50 people, there in December of 2024. Louis and the team could not have been any more accommodating! The food was delicious and even though we had a pre-set menu, we did have a few one-off requests from some of our guests, and never did it feel like it was an issue or concern! The team was just as focused if not more focused than me on making the night one to remember! It is over a year later and I still am hearing compliments about that party and the food! The restaurant is beautiful. Unfortunately, the service was horrible. We waited an hour for our appetizers and received 2 of the 4. My main course was not prepared as I asked (dressing on the side of my salad-easy request). The waitress knew that it was incorrect but served it anyway with an apology. When in Red Bank, we usually go to The Bistro because it is consistently good. Tonight we met friends at Neapoli.....a mistake. This restaurant was formerly Gaitano's - which we liked. Reasons not to go: 1. Creepy manager in velour suit - trying way too hard; 2. Bad timing when it came to service; asking to clear while there was still a fork in the food. 3. We ordered a bottle of wine - there was no tasting before the pour; 4. Super tacky photographer taking a photo - what did they think we were on a cruise ship? then while eating the greedy photographer sets down photos in a frame - never a discussion about cost or reason. Anniversary celebration dinner, so we wanted to choose a nice Italian restaurant in Red Bank. The area has many to choose from and it turned out that we made the right call. High praise here. Fresh tomato and mozzarella starter was fresh, delicious and plentiful. Entrees consisted of the short ribs for my wife and the branzino and shrimp over rossato and veggies for myself. Both were very well prepared and satisfying. While we aren't big eaters, we did appreciate the generous portions that were served. Our server, Michael was great and we appreciated the owner/manager coming around and checking on our experience mid-meal. So overall, we recommend Neapoli and plan to return in the future. Bottles of wine are available but not glasses, so just bring your own. The service here is great, but the restaurant is so loud you can barely hear them. Neapoli serves solid Italian food, as well as a handful of dishes inspired by Greek cuisine. I came here for lunch one weekend, and had the chance to try a small selection of starters and one of their brick oven pizzas. When we arrived, my group was promptly seated and greeted by our server shortly after we began looking over the menu. For our appetizers, we decided on the Greek spanakopita (a special), and the zucchini chips. The spanakopita, while decent, was not on par with an authentic Greek restaurant's, but seeing as Neapoli primarily offers Italian cuisine, I didn't expect it to be. The zucchini chips, on the other hand, were nicely fried in a seasoned panko batter, and included tzatziki on the side. For my main course, I got the melanzana brick oven pizza, which featured mozzarella and plum tomato sauce, topped with fried eggplant and dollops of ricotta. I loved the concept of fusing eggplant parmigiana with pizza, and although I ate it all, the eggplant slices were slightly too thin compared to the amount of breading. As a result, the eggplant flavor was mostly lost. I think I would have enjoyed it much more otherwise. read more

I have been to this restaurant on numerous occasions and mostly had good experiences. Not this time. It was by far the worst service I have ever experienced. It was Easter Sunday and the restaurant was not busy. From the moment we sat down we felt rushed. They brought bread and olive oil. Before we could finish it the bread basket was wisked away and without us even noticing, the busboy had removed the olive oil also. I asked for more bread which she brought back. Then i asked if we could have the olive oil back. I then asked if there was a time limit on the table. She said no, we are slow. We ordered two appetizers. We finished one and the dish was taken immediately. We were still working on the second when the busboy reached for the dish and asked if we were done. We all grabbed for the dish at the same time so he wouldnt take it. When dinner finally came it was not worth waiting for, mediocre and not hot. A man who i assume was management asked how everything was my husband asked for steak sauce for his dry steak. He said we dont have typical steak sauce, it was a demi-glace and did he want some. We went at 1pm for Brunch and didn't want a $70 buffet or an overpriced fixed price Easter menu. The restaurant was very nice and I love that they open the doors onto the street. We had several apps, fried calamari and firecracker calamari and shrimp and also the beet salad. We had a really wonderful dinner at Neapoli. I was surprised at how large and pretty the decor was here. Our server, Arturo, was very kind and attentive. We started with fried ravioli & the pear Gorgonzola salad; both were perfect! I had a grilled pork chop with hot & sweet peppers. Red Bank for sure runs all over the place in terms of restaurant dining experiences. They have a few of the best and some of the worst restaurants at the shore area in my opinion. So just where does Neapoli fit, unfortunately not very well based on taste and overall price value. Were it not for their lofty prices I may have given them a pass with a just okay three star rating. But, considering the value I could not do it. My benchmark is always food first, value second, service third followed by ambiance. Our food was mediocre at best with a poor over cooked veal Milanese buried under way to much arugula. And, an average shrimp over house made linguini, that was over cooked as well not even close to al dente. Both dishes lacking in any flavor were not enjoyable. The only menu available was a pricy prix fixe four course construction. We NEVER eat that much food. It was Valentine's Day but the limited menu was not disclosed when I made the reservation. I would have made other plans if I knew. Additionally, two thirds of the entrees were up charged. Most of the food we took home for leftovers. What a waste, $200 for leftovers. The chicken oreganata was not enjoyable and ended up being fed to the dog. The cheese cake was served frozen! Service was spotty and strained.
