I was SO sad to hear that after almost 20 years, Nebraska Brewing Company will be closing its doors! I've had NBC beer at countless events, baseball games, and at the brewery itself. They've always had crisp, cold drinks on hand when I've been. My favorites were the Nebraska Pils, EOS Hefeweizen, and the Ale Storm that was made for the Storm Chasers baseball stadium/team. There will be a huge hole left by Nebraska Brewing CompanyCompany in the Omaha beer scene. Came here for the Omaha Winter Market for the second time this fall (second and fourth Sundays of the month thru March) and really enjoyed it each time. There's a good mix of vendors (fresh produce, baked goods, nuts, spices, tea, honey, sweets, granola, jewelry, pet products, arts, leather goods, etc.) and a food truck outside with plenty of places to sit inside. They also served a selection of drinks including their own beers. I don't drink so I can't comment on those but I would come back just to play pinball on one of the many machines lining the wall in the bar area. It's a nice place to hold this fun event and easy to get to right at 108th & Harrison (across the street from Rotella's) and had ample parking. read more

Repeat visit to Nebraska Brewing Co today but first time for the Czech Fest. Plenty of smiling faces enjoying the polkas from Barry Boyce Band with their steins/mugs full of NBC brewed beer. Homemade spicy Bloody Mary's and blackberry shots!! Even with the Czech fest going on in the large, spacious brew room, if you wanted to pull up a stool for the game and chill at the bar, you can. Friendly staff with prompt bar service and plenty of parking all around the building. The owners gave such a nice speech at the festival about their longevity in the business and in the area. How much the community meant to them and how proud they were to have many years of annual Czech Fest ynder their belt. Truly a family friendly vibe. This was awful. I was planning an outing for some friends, so I suggested a trivia night. I found online that Nebraska Brewing Company hosts trivia on Friday night. This would be the first of several disappointments. They do not. Their website states they have food. They do not. Their website also states they regularly have food trucks. They did not. The bartender moved at a snails pace. The place is crazy loud. It's very difficult to even have a conversation. Don't think I'll be going back. read more

My family along with my sister-in-law and her family stopped by to check out their swag. Our kids were super excited to see free video games as soon as they walked in. We all opted for beers to relax and visited that afternoon. The lady working the bar was friendly, helpful in answering our questions, and extremely patient when she has to reset the pinball machine several times. It's actually a pretty cool venue, but you know how things can be tainted by the server. She didn't have much to say and was generally just there to serve beer. If I were asking for a bud, I certainly don't expect the server to do much more than pour it, but at a brewery, I do. Tell me about your product. Be energized by it. Not all of us are regulars. Further, apparently we were there during happy hour. Didn't find out about that until afterwards. The venue is cool though. They have several pinball machines and a large room with a huge screen. Simple outdoor space, but it's in the shade which helps when it's 90 degrees outside. Funny thing is, I think the games are free, but nothing indicated that while we were there. Still not sure, except what I read on Yelp. Might want to publicize that a little. Or maybe it's a secret only the regulars get let in on. The beers were tasty. They've got a wide variety, so you will find something you like. We had two that I seriously considered get a 750 ml of and taking to the hotel. I'd encourage anyone to go. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable on their beers, which rotate constantly, so something new to try each time you go. When they have music bingo it is very fun. Staff is very accommodating. On my most recent trip to Nebraska Brewing Company I was able to take the tour of the facility. They offer tours once or twice a week led by staff members, so you can see the process in which beer is made here. Perhaps I just haven't paid much attention but I don't notice Nebraska brewing company's beers at a lot of local restaurants that I dine and drink at. One of the things the owner said during the tour was that they are focused a little bit more on distribution side of the business so they are more popular outside of the state than within our own state. This makes a lot of sense as to why I don't see it often when I'm out and about in Omaha. Now that I've had a chance to try about 5 to 6 of their beers I definitely want more. The melange a trois and the brunette nut brown were really stellar, but I did enjoy a bunch of the others too. Since the restaurant brewery location in Papillion is a bit far for me as well as this brewing facility in LaVista, it's not a place I go very often but I know when I do I'm going to stock up on some of my favorites! They were probably one of the first pioneers of craft beers in Omaha, I would say they're pretty heavy contenders with many of the local favorites. If they ever switch gears and wanted to be more in restaurants and local eateries (as opposed to being more of a distributor) should probably open a location more "in-town" like other small craft brewers have done. What a cool business to support such a great cause at the Hop Cup yesterday. I think the production of hops in Nebraska should be a priority since there is a big need for local breweries to have access to local ingredients. My friends and I had a lot of fun and we're looking forward to next year. I had to give a 4 out of 5 stars since they weren't one of the beers that placed. Though they had a reasonable beer, I think they erred on the safe side and the croud was looking for more originality found in a beer like Farnam House's sour. Had we got a second taste of Zip Line's Old Ale it might have gotten our vote but instead Benson brewery's crisp and refreshing IPA won over our hop head taste buds. Certainly by now, you know I like beer. Not just any beer, but good beer. That is what NBC makes. Solid good beer. I have had some chances to drink and talk to the owner and Tyson is great. This taproom is not really my favorite, but for them the larger space is probably more affordable. Somewhat like Zipline in an industrial setting housing the good stuff. The Cardinal Pale Ale is by far my fave. Even though I am a Hophead the Pale is just right. NBC is to me, the most consistent product we have and a fine ambassador of Nebraska. The actual drinking area is a bit small. If all the events were held in the warehouse section it would be cool. I stopped by here for a beer on a Friday afternoon. Staff was friendly and knowledgable and recommended a nice German wheat for me to try. So I tried it and enjoyed it. A nice, light beverage to enjoy on a hot day. And with around 20 brews on tap, some you can only get here, there's something for everyone for any occasion. It's also cool how you can see the brewery staff busy in the background working to brew the beer you're enjoying at the bar. You can also grab a NBC sixer for the road. The one miss for me was the food. They only offered two types of panini. And they were out of one of them. So I ordered the ham and cheese and was disappointed. A little too crispy, salty and not enough taste. I'm all for a limited menu at a tap room like this. Even so, they should make sure the food is as quality as the beer. In short, stop by here from some unique beers and to check out the NBC brewery. Skip the food. read more

The tour was great, a combination of science, manual labor, creativity, and lots of love = beer. The tasting was great, a knowledgeable explanation of each beer. I have been here on several occasions over the past few years. When they have special events (which is rare), this is a fun place to hang out and have beer. All the other times, it's boring. The staff lack passion. It feels like they are more interested in distributing their beer than running a fun tap house. Service is just OK, nothing special - again lacking passion. As tap rooms go, this is a good one. The food is solid and the beer is really good. I was in here on a Sunday afternoon. They had NFL on with plenty of TVs. There are a few classic video games if you're into that sort of thing. They have a room with a big projection screen. There are windows you can look out onto the brewing room. Nice. My only dig here is that this is a big "regulars" place. I've been a few times, but I'm not a regular. We arrived a little bit early and our bar tender (one of the owners, Kelly?) greeted us with a huge smile and a clear passion for her work. They have a tons of styles of beer, but it seems like they do a bunch of different stuff just for variety's sake... nothing feels like there was passion behind brewing it. I had a flight of 8, and a full pour of a barrel aged beer. Nothing was complete crap....but nothing I would order again. Limited menu, but I didn't eat. Service was a bit blah too, not rude or anything, but far from inspired. Not a good vibe, feels like 1995 inside - and not in a fun 90s party way. I was here for the "Charmin" Opening on Saturday, May 3rd. This will be a nice place when they get everything set up. They had typical first run problems with their computer registers, but they had 10 of their beers on tap. I believe I heard they will eventually have 24 here. I don't really know what to expect from a Tap Room at a Brewery since I have only been to a few like this. No food is served but they do have a decent sized room with a couple TVs and a conference room next door with what will be a large screen viewing room. You can see the brewing process through a window and I believe they will have tours. Kind of out of the way being in an Industrial Park across the street from Rotellas, but I can't wait to see what this turns into with Lucky Bucket just down the road. read more

Poor service, I think our bartender meathead Rob Lowe wanted to be in the weight room instead. We just stopped in for a few locally brewed beers, saw the sign as were driving by. Most of the customers in here came for a tour of the brewery, and I think that is the main focus of this building. It looks awfully industrial from the outside, the interior is equally as unflattering. Trust that I drink a lot of beer, but I can't drink a lot of any of the beers they have here. I tried five different ones. They all pretty much sucked. Not horrible, just not good. If I had to describe in one word: strong. And I don't mean ABV strong, I mean bitterly unsmooth and sharp. Three of them were too hoppy. I know I didn't order an IPA so why does this taste like one? They like their hops here at NBC, too much. Bitter and half-fruity, like a green banana concentrate with a little grapefruit infusion. The dark beer tasted like straight whiskey. I love whiskey, but not well whiskey! I felt it as soon as it hit my gut. After I got something else, I saw a poor fellow there with his girlfriend trying to choke one of these turbocharged dark beers down, probably in an effort to seem manly. I was there for an hour and he still hadn't finished his 16oz glass before I left. But that guy had it right all along, because here at NBC they do not want you to know the price of the beer until it's time to pay. The beers were $6 a piece. Insanity! I understand that microbrews are more expensive than domestic, but this is ridiculous. I should've known by the silly shape of the serving glass that they were going to swindle us. "Ahem, sir we call that a snifter." Well pardon me, your excellency! Just give me a damn mug of cold beer. This is just not a beer drinker's hang out. read more

My husband and I wanted a burger and a beer after the concert at Shadow Lake shopping center was cancelled. A beer on a hot day would be great, I thought. Why not get some food, too. What a mistake. We both ordered a cheeseburger and a beer. The beer the waitress suggested (to be close to a Corona Lite) was bitter tasting and the burger's bun was burned on top in the middle. I chose a salad for a side at a cost of $2.99 extra. The lettuce pieces were so huge I asked for a steak knife to cut them down to a managable size. It looked like they simply opened a bag of mixed greens, threw on some shredded cheese and served it. Honestly, each lettuce leaf was nearly four inches long and two inches wide. Would it take much to tear or cut the lettuce to make it manageable? Or order decent lettuce from your distributor. If you're going to serve food don't charge so much and hire some decent cooks. So, for $32.45 we got two cheeseburgers, a salad, a 5 oz. beer and a 13 oz. beer. Not including tax. I can't believe they think so much of their burgers. I never want to return. I can go other places and find a decent burger for a better price. You are not all that! read more

I've been in here a number of times and continue to be impressed by the beers that NBC is able to create; they are, in my book, one of the best local brewers. It's nice to have a tap room that is actually where the brewery is located; too often tap rooms are remote locations. At NBC, you can look at the brewing floor through a glass partition and it serves as a reminder that this is, in fact, a brewery and not just another bar. I've always sat at the bar, never a table, so really cannot comment on whether or not the table service is good or bad. At the bar, however, I never feel like I need to flag down the bartender in order to get service. I've not been in when they are overly busy. There is a party room attached that is available for events, which is nice. It's a good space and I can see it being used quite a bit. Sometimes when I'm in, many of the beers on the menu are out; that gets a bit disappointing, but there are enough really good offerings that I'm never tempted to leave and go somewhere else. Food offering are a bit on the light side, though I see that is changing and it's not just pretzels any more. Good for NBC! Yes, brewery tours are offered. read more

I highly recommend taking a tour here! My husband and I had time to visit one brewery before we left Omaha and Nebraska Brewing Company came highly recommended. They have a great reputation with bars and locals around town - and after my visit it's easy to see why! We arrived about 30 minutes early and had time for a flight. The bartender was super knowledgable and helped us pick beers that we loved. Flights start at $12 (for 8) but go up if you throw some barrel aged beers into the mix. My husband and I were the only people on our tour which made it a personal and fun experience. We learned a lot about their process from a super cool and very passionate tour guide. I will surely go back next time I'm in Omaha just to visit him and try new beers on tap! Tours run at 5:30pm and 7:30pm on Thursday nights and then Saturday at 2pm & 4pm. We were in town visiting friends. On Sunday we went here. It is in a warehouse type building. They have some of their pints for only $2.50. We got a few and one of us got a mimosa. They do have other things beside beer. We sat at the bar. They have TVs to watch and a laid back vibe. It was time to head to our next stop and their POS went down. I guess it is controlled by the other location. It took a bit to get back up and running. The guy was very apologetic. He gave us another half round on the house while we waited. I love when a business let's an employee do the right thing for the customer. Overall a great place to stop and try some pints. I think they are by a bread place. They have a cute cooler that states "day old". I asked the guy he said it was in reference to the "day old" bread next door. Cute and funny. If we are back in town we would stop in again. read more

There is very limited food options (pretzels, chip and salsa and a food truck). There are lots of beer selections. I tried the cranberry ale (free for the runners) which was as bad as any other cranberry ale I tried. The smores beer had the smell of a s'mores perfected but the drink needed more viscosity so it would stay on your tongue and coat your palatte. The location is very clean. Note: This review has nothing to do with the quality of their beer, or the brewing area. I love me some Melange-a-Trois and I would never speak ill of the brewing chops over there. That said... The wife and I had been wanting to check out "The Tap Room" at NBC for a while and their Dock-toberfest this past weekend was great timing. I didn't let the sparse showing at the event taint my view, and if anything it let me see more of the place. -Thumbs downs: The outside is plain, it's in a boring area, and there is little parking. Inside, the decor, though new, is also boring and the setup is a little awkward; with a section of the the bar seemingly tucked into a corner immediately across the hall from the bathrooms. The rest of the "tap room" didnt have much character and seemed more like a cheap sports bar atmosphere. -Thumbs ups: The bar is huge with a REALLY long line of tap handles, a huge variety of NBC beers, two very friendly bartenders and a cooler in the corner for take-out beer. The beer is arguably some of the best in Nebraska and the staff actually knows about it all. Also, unlike Lucky Bucket, the "tap room" area is separated off entirely from the brewing operation so it's quiet and feels like a restaurant. Overall the NBC Tap Room falls somewhere between a full on brewery restaurant (i.e. Benson Brewery, Infusion, Farnam House, Upstream) and the bare bones operation at Lucky Bucket. It's more comfortable than LB, but with so many other interesting, better thought out restaurants in the area the only reason to go to the NBC Tap Room is for a brewery tour or to fill up a growler...which makes LB's approach make more sense...At the end of the day it's the better brewery tour/warehouse experience in the area, but its not a great brewery-pub/restaurant. read more

Have been here multiple times and always leave disappointed feeling like it's cliquey and there are better options. But we tried again for a special event and were blown away by how BAD it was. The service was atrocious, the servers acted like part of an elite circle who couldn't be bothered. We were treated like outsiders and it would take some serious convincing to go back. read more

It's hard to deny their cardinal pale ale so we decided to check out their restaurant for the first time yesterday. We sat at the bar and the first thing you notice is the fruit flies....EVERYWHERE. They werent coming from outside because it was 9 degrees out. So if you go here make sure you use one hand to drink your beer and have the other one available to shoo the flies away. Love the beer, BUT I think I will stick to buying it from the store rather than going to their restaurant/brewery. Disappointed to say the least. read more
