I ordered the mi loquita: tequila, blackberry liqueur, house-made hot honey shrub, acidified pineapple. They have some snacks and this bar is attached to Dozo where we had omakase reservations later. We got some of the furikake chex mix, which was a bit sweet and spicy. I loved it! Our drinks were very nice and balanced, and quite tasty. Signature cocktails range from $13-$16 which seemed normal for this type of spot. I'm glad we got to check it out and wish we could have gotten some kind of small souvenir (I love when bars have a matchbook etc.). I'd come back!

This includes when he had some deadtime and offered to make us drinks if we just let him know what spirit and flavor profile we were thinking. The drinks were delicious and, again, very well-balanced. Hank could probably work quite a bit more magic with a larger spirits selection, but he was very good at what he did. We had a great time, and we'd definitely return. I'm not sure the return visit would be nearly as amazing without Hank though. He really made the entire experience a memorable one that we'll look back on instead of just a "solidly okay speakeasy".

IF YOU ARE A WOMAN OF COLOR / MUSLIM ... YOU ARE NOT WELCOME HERE. I was turned away from this bar because I had a really cute scarf on my head. I was told by the bouncer that they don't advocate for that type of religion and he doesn't like du-rags. It wasn't a du-rag and I'm not Muslim. I am a black woman who had her hair twisted up underneath a really cute scarf. So, if you're a woman of color a someone who likes to wear scarfs on their head (kind of like a really cute up-do), you aren't welcome here. If you're Muslim, you're not welcome here either way. Let's take our money somewhere else and support a Dayton establishment that isn't racist, islamophobic oe xenophobic. I asked Newcomes (which is literally a 2 second walk from Ned's) how they feel about my head wrap and they said they had no problem and weren't surprised Ned's turned me away. That means this in an ongoing problem. It shouldn't be this way. If you made it this far reading the review, I encourage you to take your money to Newcomes or any other place that isn't Ned's. Pretty ghetto, and that's even for Dayton. Likely don't care about their reviews but be advised: don't take a step outside if you ever want to retrieve your purse from inside. Douchebag bouncers will try to charge you to get back in (though all of your money is inside) to get your belongings and managers with heads stuck so far up their asses will be useless to assist.
