This was my second visit to the pub. We were seated right away in our server was at our table rapidly. We ordered some drinks and enjoyed a couple of appetizers during the happy hour menu. The pretzels with beer cheese are just outstanding. I had the fish and chips. Coleslaw and fries are great. The fish itself is pretty greasy, but you can pat most of that off. Flavors are good. Amazing service. Are server Megan was absolutely amazing she was so kind and she brought us a small sample of there troll fries. She put two straws in my diet coke so she didn't mess them up. Cool vibe but waited two hours for food that was cold and subpar. Waitress still forgot one of the orders for the table after all that time. We waited another 15 minutes while they made fried pickles. Chicken tenders were overcooked. Manhattan roast beef was cold but the instant mashed potatoes were steaming hot over a lukewarm gravy that could have come from a can. Side salads were wilted but the ranch was good. Tried to charge us for smaller portion of chef salad rather than side salads and had to get the manager involved. He took off the salads and offered us a gift certificate for our next visit. Very disappointed with entire experience. Didn't get to try any drinks from the bar. Drove from Columbus to check it out. Had stoped here one night after a comedy club, but their kitchen was closed (not listed on their website). Doubt we'll be back. read more

My girlfriend & I went to the Troll Pub after eating a great meal at the Dublin Pub. Atmosphere is pretty casual and they have a dart board and golf video game machine (I think Golden Tee). There weren't a lot of people there when we arrived but this place can definitely accommodate many people. It's in the Wheelhouse building and is a side entrance that is pretty nondescript, but there's a huge fully stocked bar. There are multiple specialty drinks but you can order classic drinks as well. Bartenders are attentive and serve up drinks relatively quickly. Prices seem reasonable considering the location. There is also an outdoor area where you can smoke and vape. The outdoor smoking area has a few tables and seats plus a speaker wired to the jukebox. The jukebox is a TouchTunes machine and you can either queue up songs via an app or with cold hard cash and scrolling through the touchscreen. This is a fun bar that I really enjoyed. There's a giant troll statue outside that you cannot miss! I recommend!! read more

Tried this place out, and first off is you have to pay for parking in a lot that anyone would assume was the Troll Pubs lot. I don't believe anyone in our party enjoyed the food, our waiter recommended their seasoned fries - they were so salty I couldn't eat but a few. Waiter was ok except for his recommendations. We all agreed that the chicken was thin, dry, and tasteless. The fries were very good! The cream of mushroom soup was very good as I was told. Most of the people seemed to enjoy their selections, but not the chicken. Too much of a hassle for this, otherwise, beautiful restaurant with very outdated and skeptical parking. We made a reservation for 6:15, in order to make it to the theatre by 8. When we got there, at 6:08, we were told it would be at least an hour wait as they sat a whole lot of walk-ins that showed up a little earlier. We made the reservation to make sure we could be seated. The fact that they sat the walk ins while ignoring the reservation list is simply unacceptable. We weren't late, we gave ourselves plenty of time AND they ask that you pay for parking before you even come in. All only to be turned away. (They confirmed that they had the reservation as well, and while the person at the host desk was very apologetic, it didn't really help us.) It's a real shame as we were looking forward to it - but I'm writing this from the Dublin Pub nearby - which, while busy, sat us as soon as they heard the story. Overall, a really solid experience, but there are a couple of issues that need to be addressed. My wife and I were in town from out of state, specifically to bike Dayton. I know bike racks aren't a given by any means, but given the sports bar atmosphere of the place, I would have hoped someone would have thought to make an area where we could put our bikes and chain them to something solid. That's just a personal issue. Now on to the service... It was stellar. The hostess greeted me when I came in and answered my questions with a legit smile and was very personable. She was attentive and checked on us several times. She even brought us extra waters when she noticed ours getting low, joking that she knows we need to stay hydrated since we're bikers. She could not have been sweeter. Both women did a great job and management needs to know that. I had the chicken and waffle sandwhich and it was great! The meat itself were two super large tenders, which is a good size. I gotta say something, though. What is with charging a dollar extra for a small thing of syrup. Seemed petty and a blatant cash grab/markup. Come on, guys. That's kind of petty. First time ever I had to pay extra someplace for syrup for a chicken and waffle sandwich. :/ Now here's my one complaint: the "club sandwich." It was pretty pathetic. They should just name it, "a twelve year old's attempt at making a sandwich." Google a picture of a club sandwich. It barely looks like what my wife was served. A signature club uses THREE slices of bread, not two like this one. The lettuce was just a clump that was slapped on there. The bread was barely toasted. Ya know how a club sandwich has thinly sliced tomato? This had none! My wife said it was serviceable and just something to eat. She didn't enjoy it. She was so hungry she didn't want to get the menu out again, pick something else, then wait for it to be made. You guys need to seriously rethink your "club sandwich. It's really sad. That being said. The fries were unbelievably great. I don't know what the seasoning was, but we both loved them! We ate there 9/8/23, in the early afternoon. Tony and I was excited to try this place out. We ate at the Troll bar in Louisville a few times and they said YES, it was from the same Chain...didn't realize it was a chain so I was excited because Troll under the Bridge in Louisville is a very good restaurant and bar. We were greeted by the host and told to sit anywhere. We chose a table near the bar, and we both loved the table which was a poly sealed slice of a log, you can tell more about it in my pictures..I definitely would love to have one of these in my home. We ordered our drinks me soda and Tony a PBR We opted to share some wings, and got them Naked and Hot...but OMG their hot is VERY HOT..so I had to get some milder hot dipping sauce and an extra Ranch dressing to cool them down for my mouth..The food was good. The service was wonderful and the establishment Gorgeous and Clean. I would definitely go here again and I definitely recommend it. The food and service were fine. Ambiance... average bar. But all of my friends and I got "parking tickets" from the lot right next to Troll Pub. This BS parking company now wants each of us to pay more than $50 for parking in their lot! Apparently they had signs about paying for parking that weren't visible to any of us when we arrived. It seems like Troll Pub's lot, but it's not. I'm not paying this bogus ticket. My friends and I will simply never visit this bar again because we don't like being extorted. The tickets say they will even send us to collections over this fine! I will see them in court before I pay these crooks for trying to squeeze me over a pay-to-park sign that is far from obvious. Troll Pub should take control of their parking situation or they're sure to lose more customers like us. This was our first experience at the Troll Pub. I love the trolls. I was surprised that the theme did not carry through inside the building. The pub is large. We were there during Happy Hour on a Friday night and it was busy but we were able to get a table right away. Our goal was a few beers and some appetizers. We chose loaded fries and wings. The wings are not part of the Happy Hour special, but we had no problem with that. We knew this was definitely not our most nutritious meal but what the heck sometimes you just have to let go! The fries were delicious with a good amount of cheese and sour cream. My husband had the wings and mentioned that even the mild sauce had a bite to it. He doesn't mind, but I'm not a fan of spice. Our server was attentive and took care to mention what was included in the Happy Hour specials. I will lgo back in good weather so we can sit outside. read more

Wanted to give this place a shot. The pictures online made the inside look fantastic. The restaurant looked so cool when we pulled up. The giant troll clock hanging off the building was the best. The Wheelhouse's lot, where the restaurant is located, is an Airgarage. You do need to pay when you park on your smartphone. The inside of the place is a unique experience. It has a classic, old timey feel to it with the big wooden beams, vintage chandeliers, and wooden tables. Our waiter was super friendly and got our drinks out right away. We got the Riverscape Marg and Pub's Punch. Both were sweet and yummy and right up our alley. We ordered the Wedge Salad and the Burger of the Month, Chopped Cheese. The food came out quickly and was ok. The bacon on the wedge salad was a little too cold and chewy for my taste. The Chopped Cheese and fries were pretty good. The service ended up being a bit slow by the end. Our waiter checked in with us several times but it took awhile to get our check or even have any dishes cleared. There were a lot of dirty tables that hadn't been cleared as they night went on. So it's possible they were short staffed. In any case we sat for several minutes with our dirty table waiting for the check. Overall not a bad night. I definitely recommend checking this place out if you have the chance. read more

Ok so I gave it a few months and tried Troll Pub again tonight for a birthday party that I attended. I probably won't be back. I'm really not that picky but this place has issues. I met with half our party for Happy Hour before dinner. The service was unacceptable. They weren't busy and yet we waited forever for the bartender to figure out that we needed refills, all while trying to flag him down and asking for refills. When we finally sat down for dinner (there were 9 of us) all of the food was WAY overly salty. Every plate. I had the Beer Cheese burger which would've been pretty good minus the fact that it was cooked well done when I asked for "as rare as they'll cook" and it was soooo salty. Even the fries, which I understand always has salt, was so overly salty they were barely edible. This rang true for everyone in the party. The food was so incredibly salty that it was hard to eat. My partner had the Philly Cheesesteak and the beef was salty and crazy dry. He said that it was like they added dried out jerky to a sandwich as the beef. Two strikes and we won't be back! With so many other great dinner options in Dayton the Troll Pub needs to figure this out soon. read more
