We didn't have a great experience because of that person BUT we stopped by today to take a look just for fun. It's like night and day. I wish we could redo our wedding there now. Lol. It is such a cool old home with lots of interesting history and Eli, who runs it, is basically an encyclopedia. You can tell he really has a passion for it. The house has been improved in lots of ways and they are having cool events and things there now too. The place is beautiful, it is insanely affordable to book (it also has a small reception area that was great for our wedding), and now that Eli is there I have no doubt it would be a great experience. I used to never mention Rose Mont to people when they were looking for a wedding venue, but that all changed today...thanks to Eli! Go meet him and tour the place, you won't regret it!

It provides some history of mail delivery here in Lebanon. It is marker number 3A-228 and was rrected by Tennessee Historical Commission. The marker has the same text on both sides, reading " In July 1908 Lebanon's growth and prominence qualified the town for free citywide mail delivery. Congressman Cordell Hull secured funding of $50,000 for this federal post office building. The cornerstone was laid on October 30, 1913. Chief Supervising Architect Oscar Wenderoth designed the Beaux Arts style building and contractor James Corse completed construction in 1915. Pink and gray East Tennessee Marble adorns the interior walls and floors. In 1999 the National Park Service placed the Lebanon Post Office in the National Register of Historic Places as a contributing structure in the Lebanon Commercial Historic District." The marker reads, "Robert Looney Caruthers. 1800-1882. Born in Smith County in 1800, Caruthers was elected Confederate Governor in 1863. However, due to the Federal occupation of Tennessee, he was not inaugurated. A co-founder of Cumberland University, he served in the Tennessee House of Representatives from 1835 to 1837; the U.S. House of Representatives from 1841to 1843; the State Supreme Court from 1852-1861; and the Confederate Congress from 1861 to 1863. Built by Caruthers in 1828 in the Greek Revival style, but later altered, this was his home until his death in 1882." The marker has the same text on both sides, reading "The first courthouse stood on the west side of the public square. The second was located in the center of the square. In 1848 the third, designed by William Strickland, was erected on this site which was Lot No.2 (SW) of the Lebanon town lot plan of 1802. Used from 1854 until 1968, this building was replaced by a fourth when a new courthouse was built elsewhere." This is marker number 3A-183 and was erected by the Tennessee Historical Commission. This is marker number 3A-202 and it was erected by the Tennessee Historical Commission. It reads, "Near dawn on May 5, 1862, Colonel John Hunt Morgan's 800 Confederate Cavalry camped around the Public Square and at Cumberland University on South College Street, were attacked by General Ebenezer Dumont's Federal Cavalry of 600 as they advanced from Murfreesboro in a torrential rain. After an hour and a half of charges and countercharges, Morgan and most of his men withdrew on the Rome and Trousdale Ferry Pikes pursued by the Federals. Barricaded in Odd Fellows Hall on West Main Street, 60 to 70 of Morgan's men fired upon the Federals. Later these Confederates surrendered when Dumont threatened to burn the town. During the attack, the Federal losses amounted to 10 killed, 21 wounded, and 5 missing. The Confederate losses amounted to 60 killed and an unknown number of wounded and missing." We showed up at 7:30am and started lining up at the door at 7:50am, no appointment. Quickly, a line formed behind us and I'm glad we got there when we did. I was at kiosk 3 and my husband was at 4. The lady working at the front desk was wonderful. She was apologetic that I didn't have enough acceptable paperwork but she gave me a form that listed what was acceptable. My husband's clerk told him the wrong things that my clerk did say was okay, which left us both in confusion. My clerk told me to come back with everything and she will help again. My husband's clerk? Didn't say to come back to him. Two totally different experiences! A trip to the library to print more papers off and a visit back to the DMV later in the day and our clerks were still there. Because my clerk told me to come back to her, we didn't have to wait for a number, we just stood behind who she was helping. She ended up helping my husband, too, even though he was with the clerk next to her. I'm telling you, 5 star service here!! Not only was she caring about the situation, she was also personable and gave us recommendations for where to eat in the area. I'm not sure if she's always at desk 3 and I wish I had her name...but she made a positive impact and I would absolutely go back to her again.

One of the most efficient DMVs I've been to! I didn't have an appointment so I got there 15 minutes…read morebefore opening. There were about 20 people in front of me in line. As soon as they opened they let people inside and a greeter will make sure you have the right documents then direct you to check in through a text system. The clerk who worked with me was super nice and helpful. All-in-all I was there for about an hour and 15 minutes which is not bad for a walk-in at the DMV. Building was also super clean, clean bathrooms and plenty of seating.

Walk this park, along the small river and imagine yourself here without the car waiting to take you back to town, to Sonic for a diet cherry limeade. What would you see and hear thousands of years ago walking this land?The trees you see today are probably less than 40 years old. Would the fields have been cleared of growth thousands of years ago? Three stars is for the lack of information about the hard to follow trail and the location of the mounds. Otherwise, it's a nice little detour. The trail is not very developed but it's also not crazily hard. It's a pleasant loop that takes you alongside a small river. A super peaceful walk. We all inspected the rocks and found fossils, bones, mussel shells. It's hypnotic and meditative to scrounge for fossils and the odd looking stone on the banks of a river on a peaceful cool day. Afterwards, my crew was sedate, lost in their own thoughts, feeling that good tired from fresh air and exertion. Looking forward to a hot meal and their pillows. Not for strollers but toddlers can manage the trail just fine. Ground is a little uneven so those who are insecure about walking a field, this won't feel comfortable but its manageable. The rocks and bubbling river are peaceful and lovely. Be careful during heavy rains. The water comes up easily 4-5 feet. Come before the sun sets. A sunset is spectacular and gives you the most wonderful light for sweet pictures.
