Not really a true farmers…read moremarket and not a true garden market, King's Cottage Garden is more of an expanded roadside stand. This one has its own entertainment. The first thing that caught my eye as I drove in, but for which i was not quick enough with the camera to capture a picture, was the goat walking across the fenced yard, followed by a pig, and with a goose trailing behind. All seemed to be walking, trotting, or waddling toward the fence and the peacocks who were leisurely pecking their way toward the nearby trees. It was little surreal. It's a colorful place, between the tomatoes of all kinds and colors, the okra, potatoes, pumpkins and the huge mums of varying colors blanketing the yard around the vegetable stand. With the mini-farmyard, there's something to keep the kids entertained while the adults chat with the friendly owners and choose the perfect veggies.

Honestly, I had no idea to expect, but I found a clear address online and headed over. The store itself is a rickety old building--like many that you see in the country surrounding the Triangle. To the side, there was a mini fresh farm sale with all sorts of delicious foods--peaches, blueberries, eggplant, okra, tomatoes, peppers. It was a nice selection and obviously very fresh. I picked up a red pepper, a purple eggplant, and 3 peaches. When the girl rang me up and it came to only $3 I was a bit shocked. I wish I lived closer so I could come here all the time. The girl working there was super helpful and the quality looked good. It's open from 9-6 every day of the week. She said that in the building (that part is more clearly labeled) a woman does antique shows about once a month.

Visited recently late on a Sunday ( maybe an hour before they closed) Great location with plenty of parking. Besides fresh produce, it also has fresh fish, a seafood restaurant, and a few other specialty shops. Open 7 days a week, I would go all the time if I lived in the area. But like most farmer's markets, "most" prices are no cheaper than your local grocery store, but the selecatiosn here are great. Espeially now in the Fall with tiomns of pumpkins & gourds, Saw stands with huige selections of plants & shrubs for home gardens & landscaping. Bought some fresh NC corn & honey. One stand had a HUGE selection of almost every pepper I ever heard off. Cant wait to go back. ( no pets!)

I found that an elderberry vendor was here (and said they were each week) along with a micro greens farmer made this very helpful and a realistic alternative to the raleigh farmers market for those of us on this side of the triangle. Honey farmer (harvester?) was also there and the honey was really good. Fruits and vegetables along with some craft people were also there. I really recommend this as an addition to the normal shopping as it seems to be a reliable place to get food for the house.

Bought a box and couldnt wait to get home. FRESH. RIPE. JUICY. TASTY. Some were almost as large as tennis balls. After slicing and eating them, there was even juice in the bowl! delicious. Luscious. The Apex Farmers Market is held on Saturdays at The Depot in Downtown Apex. It is a small farmers'…read moremarket for the size of Apex so did not have many vendors in the parking lot. This could be because of the small size of The Depot, not allowing for many, or I may have been there on a slow day, so they didn't utilize all the space available. The goal is to have vendors within 150 miles of Apex. All the vendors were close together, so you don't need to walk far to see what is available. Benches were also available. They have activities for kids as well. If I am in Downtown Apex on another Saturday, I will return again.
