Sadly my Mother died in a matter of weeks of becoming ill with Covid-19. Once my Mother's death was near I reached out to David Griffin to see what type of arrangements were being held at this strange time, since everything was shut down. David was so comforting to talk with and understanding of our situation (which also included my parents pre-arranging & paying for their funeral ahead of time at a different firm). David assured me he would make every accommodation he could to honor what was done with the other firm. About a week later my mother passed peacefully in her sleep. We called Griffin Funeral Home early in the morning to make arrangements to bring my mother into their care. The person who answered the phone was extremely pleasant and transferred us to Larry Griffin. Larry assured us Mom would be brought into their care within an hour. We made arrangements with Mary Bartlett over the phone later in the day and scheduled a time to come in and finalize things on Monday. Mary was exceedingly kind, compassionate and helpful during our meeting. We scheduled the Funeral for Friday Morning with my mother being buried after. My Mother looked beautiful. The Funeral Home was spotlessly clean and comfortable. The Staff all kind and comforting. Larry Griffin handled our service on Friday and was very personable and professional, David Griffin made a special trip to come by and greet us, Mary Bartlett did an amazing job coordinating the service and details and Barbara in the office helped answer mine and my father's many questions. Jeff helped us with every detail, making an overwhelming process manageable. He guided us in selecting a casket that perfectly reflected my dad's patriotism and provided recommendations for the funeral literature that suited him flawlessly. He walked us through options between a flag or a casket spray, patiently explaining each choice. He helped suggest options for suitable pallbearers (we chose to have the grandkids serve as pallbearers) Jeff meticulously handled every aspect of my dad's military grave marker, ensuring all details were correct and following up with its installation. He assisted in creating a funeral timeline that accommodated everything we needed to consider during a holiday weekend and helped us finalize our luncheon plans, guiding us on attendees. I could go on and on. Here's a perfect example of Jeff's attitude. When I presented him with an excessively large slideshow for the funeral (2000 photos) which was taking forever to download, he responded with a reassuring "I've got this, don't worry about a thing" attitude. Even when the grave marker arrived with a typo--through no fault of his own--he had already submitted the correction to the government agency before informing us. His dedication went above and beyond our expectations. I think most notably, Jeff's availability was remarkable; he was there for us at every turn, promptly returning our calls and ensuring all our requests were granted. This was the first funeral I have ever planned, so you can imagine what a relief it was to have him be so responsive with the many questions I had. And when I say he returned calls promptly, it was usually within minutes. His genuine care made us feel a deep sense of trust and bonding with him. Additionally, the entire staff's warmth deserves special mention, particularly the two front door hostesses who became like family during the service. Their genuine compassion and warmth added another layer of comfort to an emotionally challenging day. During life's hardest moments, having someone like Jeff in your corner makes all the difference. Our family will be forever grateful for the care and support we received. I ended up standing for over an hour right by the guest sign-in book. The screen across from the large couch scrolled through selected family photos. There was a closet for coats. Another larger room set up with chairs for the scripture readings. The first room upon entry was a big room and conducive for standing, since there wasn't a lot of seating. I was glad I had come during a time with less people. The staff were buzzing around and at some point had to interrupt conversations to round up the siblings ahead of the readings.

My mom and I had arranged for her prepaid funeral and the sales director lead us through the process answering any questions or concerns. So when her time came, the funeral home was right on top of everything. My siblings and I only had to meet with Cheyenne once where she covered the things they would need for mom. She asked for details and memories of our mom's life some of which she picked up on while we were reminiscing on mom between the siblings. The obituary that Cheyenne wrote was good, if not even better, than what we could have done. The day of the visitation, the lovely receptionist went way beyond and entertained my small nieces and nephews. She accommodated us with every request or question. The refreshments were great to have so no one had to leave if they were hungry. The day of the funeral was handled with such care and concern for our mom and family. No detail was overlooked or missed. The pastor who lead the service was so compassionate and talked about mom with a loving insight. The cars in funeral procession where given flags and traffic was cleared by their employees. At graveside the pastor prayed for our mom. And Cheyenne instructed us to what to expect or do. Mon laid to rest by her beloved husband, our dad. The following luncheon after was held at the funeral home. The staff did everything to see we were taken care of. The food was good and plenty of it. July 23, 2023. For…read moremany years, my Mom had an advertisement taped on the refrigerator for John N. Santeiu and Son Funeral Home. She had written in parentheses (Romanian). Last year, my Mom and I went to visit Santeiu, as my Mom was elderly and declining, and I begged her not to leave all those decisions up to me at the last minute. We were so lucky to meet with Anne Santeiu-Ellis. She was caring and kind, and not at all pushy. Even though we were discussing the planning for, and purchasing of, end-of-life items and services, Anne has a soothing, calming voice and manner that helps you stay calm instead of becoming sad and hysterical. We picked out Mom's casket and vault, which made me feel better, because now I knew that my Mom was going to be buried in the casket of her own choosing. And her headstone would say exactly what she wanted. Anne called Acacia cemetery and let us know what their procedures and costs would be. Considering that no one wants to think of death and dying and funerals, Anne walked us through it in a compassionate way that made us feel relieved in making our choices in advance. Bless my Mom for having chosen in advance the outfit she wanted to be buried in. My Mom died on June 16, 2023. Brandy Carter assured us that she would treat my Mom with the utmost in respect and dignity. She washed and styled my Mom's hair as my sister had asked, and also painted Mom's fingernails red to match her outfit. They did indeed, dress my Mom in everything exactly as asked. This helped us to feel considerably relieved. John Ellis, III, let my sister and I spend time with my Mom before leaving for the cemetery. He was gracious and compassionate, which also helped with our grief. Everyone we met at Santeiu was kind and caring. I am so happy that everything went smoothly, with no arguing or hard feelings. Life itself seems like nonstop arguing over everything, and most people encountered nowadays don't seem to care about anyone except themselves. We appreciated that Santeiu treated us so thoughtfully, caringly, and compassionately. They understood that my Mom was deeply loved, that she had existed, and that her life had mattered. They definitely helped make a sad situation more bearable. Thank you to everyone at Santeiu. There is a photo of the flowers in her casket spray that I posted in the Google Reviews. I was not able to attach it here. My Mom had silk flowers all around the house, and I thought it would be lovely if we could use her silk flowers in the casket spray. My sister found "A Budding Florist," only 2 blocks away from Santeiu, and Sal agreed to work with our silk flowers. The arrangement he created was absolutely beautiful, and we couldn't have been happier. We are happy that her beautiful silk flowers were buried with her.
