Well, another disappointing pedicure in the upper valley. I have now tried this place 3 times. They are NOT cheap and the pedicure sucks. The massage is completely non existent. She literally just rubbed lotion on my legs. I asked had to ask her to rub my feet and then she only did one. It's BIZARRE. We moved up from the south and there were certain things that were included in a 50$ pedicure such as callus removal (this again was a 2 pass of the callus stone) and a decent massage neither of which is received any of the 3 times I have been there. One of the worst pedicures of my lifetime. Paid $55 for a 20 mins pedicure... I even added on extra callus treatment; so it really should be longer than your average pedicure. Everything was rushed from start to finish. This was the opposite of a relaxing spa experience that I had hoped for. The staff is inattentive and rude. To add salt to the wound, the color that the lady applied looked patchy and streaked. When I pointed it out, they didn't do anything to rectify it. They, instead, gossiped in front of me about how I'm a difficult customer and the lady who did my callus treatment admitted that she cut it short bc her arms hurt ... little did they know I also speak Vietnamese. Overall, very disappointing experience and from looking through all the reviews it seems like others also had similar experiences of feeling rushed through their pedicures. I took my grandma here for a girls night out mani/pedi this weekend and we loved everything about it. Steven was so attentive to my grandma's needs (and her difficulty hearing some of his questions) and he was very gentle and friendly. There were only three technicians working so we had a lot of space between the other customer in the store, which was perfect. The tv was playing HGTV softly, which we both appreciated. It was quiet, clean, and Steven and the other technician (I didn't get her name) were very attentive, patient, and friendly. Plus my nails came back AMAZING. I heard this is the place to get your nails done at Dartmouth. I went with the owner (I was told he is the most attentive and the best to go with). The owner is super friendly and nice. We chatted for a bit while he gave me a pedicure. I got a gel pedicure and it was $50. I also asked for a cleanup of my hands- just some light grooming and cuticle care and it cost about $10. This is the greatest nail place in Hanover - said no one ever. Pedicure was terrible, foot massage was the equivalent of wiping lotion on my shins, the whole experience lasted like 15 minutes while the two staff members chatted each other the whole time - all while doing the bare minimum. Every other salon that I went to were completely booked. So, after rigorous searching, I found this place which seemed to have great reviews. After arriving, I noticed right away that the venue was a little low quality. Not too fancy like the places I'd been to. Because I was going to a wedding, I needed my feet done so, I decided to stay. My husband and I were seated right away. I saw that the massage chairs were old and looked second hand. Dirty and kind of rickety. When the pedicure began, the woman that was doing my husband's feet rushed through everything - which was a disappointment because we asked for the "spa pedicure" and we were hoping that, at $40, we would be getting better treatment. His experience went by quickly. Mine began alright. Then, it was a nightmare. The man that was doing my feet rushed through my treatment as well. The rough heels that I was hoping to soften up were still there after it all. We both got paraffin on our feet and mine was ridiculously hot. No warning or anything. They couldn't even explain what they were doing, they just put it on my feet and didn't ask if it felt alright. My skin felt like it was being placed in scalding hot water. I brought my own nail polish [Julep] and when the man was putting my nailpolish on, he didn't even wait for anything to dry before putting on a new coat - eventually messing everything up. It wouldn't dry at all! More importantly, HE KEPT LEAVING WHILE HE WAS IN BETWEEN TAKING CARE OF ME TO ANSWER THE PHONE, SCHEDULE CLIENTS OR TO GREET PEOPLE AT THE DOOR! It's okay for the upper valley but if you're used to a good manicure then you will not be leaving satisfied. If you get a manicure there is a chance nail polish will be left on your skin and if you get a pedicure don't expect them to scrub your feet or to get a good massage. However though it might be hard to believe, it is one of the better places here. read more

Their prices are high, but what can you expect - it's Hanover and they have a corner on the market. My manicure wasn't badly done but it only lasted 3 days before it started chipping and creasing/warping weirdly - a thing I had never experienced before - so I finally removed all the polish. I chalked it up to choosing a bad or old polish color, but feeling like I had wasted money has kept me from going back here again. Ultimately, I can go without a manicure for 3 months at a time and have a better job done for less when not in Hanover. I think they also have some specials/discounts for sororities come formal time, but I haven't personally benefited from those. read more

I came here spur-of-the-moment walk-in for a pedicure. $30.00 is $10 more than I pay for an excellent job close to home, but this is after all, expensive Hanover. The owner told me to come back in half and hour.I returned on time and waited an additional 15 minutes before someone was ready for me, but I lucked out getting Mary. She was very sweet, did a great job, and was fast. The salon does not have the best or most updated OPI colors, but it certainly sufficed in a pinch. New to the Upper Valley and looking for a nail salon? Don't make the mistakes I made by going to other places... start here, at Nefertiti. It was very easy to book an appointment. I received excellent customer service. The salon was clean and welcoming. My nails (acrylics with shellac gel polish) are beautiful, the best I've had done in this area, and Steven (the nail artist) even gave me a mini hand massage at the end with lotion. I had gone to two nail salons (Hannah's Allure and Luxury Nails) previously and was not satisfied with either of them. $40 for an acrylic nail fill w/ shellac, which is only $2 more than Luxury Nails in Lebanon. I highly suggest Nefertiti if you're looking for a relaxing experience/beautiful nails. The salon has free wifi. There is a parking garage right next to the building - Nefertiti will provide you with a stamp so you do not have to pay to park. TL;DR: the best you can do in town, but pretty shitty manicures. I've gone a couple times but only when I need to and when I don't have time to do a manicure for myself. You could probably paint your nails better in your room than here. The process is cuticle clipping, filing (and not well - I've still had jagged edges), then two coats of polish done roughly and a topcoat, which is not very protective and requires another of your own. The whole thing takes about 10 minutes and is usually done in a rush so they can move onto the next person, so you get streaky coats, rough edges and polish on your cuticles. It's $17 for a manicure and a few dollars more for a French. I usually have a bubble in my nails as soon as I leave, and if I forget to paint my own topcoat on all my nails chip. Customer service is also super rude. They stand there as you sign your receipt to see how much tip you'll give them. If it's not enough, they huff and snatch away the receipt. read more

I had a pedicure and manicure at Nefertiti on Wednesday last week. The woman I saw nicked me with the nail clippers and I now have cellulitis on my toe. I had to be seen in urgent care over the holiday weekend where I was prescribed oral antibiotics for the infection. I've been getting manicures and pedicures for years and never had any issues. What a lovely surprise! I didn't expect much going in because it is Hanover, after all, and the earlier reviews were so-so. But I had a great experience so I had to give this little nail salon a shout-out. Firstly, my nail lady was super, super attentive. She asked me what I wanted for my pedicure and then spent a long and careful while taking care of the shaping of the nails and the cuticles. She had a really gentle and skillful way about her and I found her manner so reassuring and relaxing. After the extensive care for my nails and cuticles, she started the coloring. After she did a couple toes, she showed me what they looked like and asked me if I still liked it. It was too bright for me, so I asked her if we could do something lighter. She went and came back with something that totally fit what I was looking for. So she did a couple more toes with that color, but this one turned out too clear and I was looking for something opaque. So she went again and came back with 3 pretty options she then painted all the colors on my fingernails so that I could see what they may look like and we were finally able to find something that I liked a lot. I was feeling so guilty, but she was really gracious and nice and just kept offering to do more in such a nice, of-course-I'm-going-to-do-this-for-you way, that I was really blown away. I've gone to Nefertiti nails a few times over the last few years. While I've never been blown away with my manicures and pedicures they've always been "good enough" to keep going. The space itself is not particularly clean and the massage chairs definitely need to be replaced. What's most alarming is how you're treated as a customer. During my pedicure the individual painting my nails constantly got up, once to clean something on the floor and another time to answer the phone. During my manicure she kept pushing my hand further into the drying device so that my fingers would painfully hit the back of it. When I explained that my hands were hitting the back of the drying device she began speaking about me with her colleagues and laughing until a man came over, reached across my body and once again slammed my fingers further into the nail dryer. It was extremely obvious that I felt uncomfortable. I was paying for a service and how I went about using the nail dryer was absolutely my choice. I was very happy with my visit. I got a set of acrylic nails put on for $45 plus a tip. I arrived early and everyone was very nice to me, the man I had an appointment with offered me a bottle of water, asked if I needed to use the rest room and was very friendly. When I sat down he offered me the remote to change the tv. He spoke to me when he did my nails. Didn't talk to much or too little. He made sure to ask me if what he was doing was okay, every step of the way. He payed very close attention. I would RECOMMEND visiting their spa, they have much more to offer. I tried Nefertiti today, hoping to find a good nail salon in the Upper Valley. I showed up without an appointment at noon on a Saturday. There was no one at the front desk, but one of the men doing a manicure nearby greeted me. Although their website says walk ins are welcome, he said that their next appointment was at 12:30, which was fine. I came back at 12:20, chose my polish, and waited 15-20 minutes for someone to help me. The woman who did my manicure hardly spoke any English, which is usually fine, but I had some questions about some of the products she was using (like "what is that") and she just said "yes, yes" in response. She was very careful about filing my nails and shaping my cuticles and went back several times to fix tiny areas she had missed, which impressed me. What I was not impressed by was the polish. She put on two coats of polish, without allowing them to dry in between, and while she was careful to remove any that got on my fingertips, I ended up with polish all over my cuticles and the bottom of each nail just looks sloppy. The polish was also not applied evenly to my nails, so there are strange grooves around the edges. When she did the final clear coat, a lot of the coating got around the edges of my fingernail and looks shiny and oddly dirty; when I look at my nails it's like there's a weird layer of grime around the outer edges. It took a long time to dry, and after about 10 minutes under the dryer I lifted my hands and accidentally touched the light with one of my nails, which left a dent in the polish. I read some of the reviews (and there were only four before mine), and my expectations were way low. I didn't know there was a nail salon drought in VT. We were staying at the Woodstock Inn and it was slim pickings, unless you wanted for fork over a fortune at the local spas. I figured to save $100, I could drive to Hanover. The salon was no frills. The technicians didn't speak english very well, at all--I had to have someone translate my 'requests.' The nail color selection was ample. The salon cleanliness was mediocre. The cost of a mani/pedi is right on par with the ridiculousness of a tourist area, $45. Again, $100 savings from what you would pay at a spa. I was pleasantly surprised. The technician took her time and was paying close attention to detail. She did alright by me. 1 hour 30 minutes later, I was a new woman with perfectly painted nails.
