Ty reset the computer and told me to take it to Mesa Smog. I took it to Mesa Smog at Ty's suggestion. As I rolled in, the check engine light came on. The team leader at Mesa Smog said that the car was going to fail the test again. He gave me detailed instructions on what to do in terms of driving to get the car to reset itself. Yes they had the year make model of my vehicle before telling me that price. The worst thing about Superior is that Jim first tells you that he has been there for 35 years and that it is a family run business and that he would really appreciate my yelp review. Then when I went back in to ask why I got charged so much, he tells me that he is just a smog technician and not the owner and that there is nothing he can do about the prices because they are set by some corporation. That is super weird right? Sounds like a bunch of bullshit to me. It is my own fault for trusting a place without calling around for prices first or getting the price upfront before the service and not leaving immediately. But the human side of this is that sometimes when you're in a hurry to get things done and have a lot on your mind, this part can slip. Is taking advantage of people what they are counting on? No idea why the other reviews are so good. Jim is "nice" enough but is that really 'nice' if you're getting taken advantage of like by $40 or $50? That is a pretty decent amount of cash for 10 minutes of effort.

Gary, the manager, personally added oil and had a lovely young man who was, of course, sweating, added air to my tires. This is the great service this location of Expertec provides. Normally, it's preferable to make an appointment and Mike will drive you home or to the office AND pick you up when your car is ready. I have never had such good service anywhere! I was going somewhere else prior and they would keep my car the entire day for a basic oil change. The first time I came after having my car serviced elsewhere and heard an odd sound when I got it back. I asked ExperTec if they could get my car back to me by the end of the day and they weren't sure, however I did get my car back within a few hours. I think they're priced fairly compared to other places in the area. I like that they're open on weekends too. I'm not a mechanic by any means but I'm also super wary of being taken advantage of which happens almost every where I go. I will say they did tell me my car passed their inspection then tried to recommend a bunch of services I'd had done recently. They didn't push me to get them or try to scare me into thinking my car was going to explode if I didn't do the recommended services lol. I've recommended this place to a couple people and they've been happy too so I think they're pretty good overall.
