Jim at Superior Smog Center is THE BEST ! He tests all our 4 vehicles , 2 of which require TEST ONLY , and is such a pleasure to work with ! Jim is a one man operation , and works thoroughly to check us out to the State level . He has all the computerized gear , but best of all , his customers are not just treated like a computer entry - he knows us by name , knows our vehicles , and loves what he is doing ! You can even call him , to check for the best time to bring in your vehicle to his one stall test center . It usually only take 45 minutes for the complete check out , with results going via his computer to Sacramento DMV offices . On the same property , is TUNE UP SHOP , Grant's operation , just in case if you need a tune up before , or after , the test ! Jim is SO polite , and a true GENTLEMAN ! The owner of this business, Hassan Javadian is a total professional in every sense of the word. My husband and I both required smog certificates, his passed without a hitch, I wasn't so lucky. Hassan, after several others had tried to find out why the car was not passing completed a full diagnostic evaluation, determined it was a switch, which once repairs were made, allowed us to pass. I have since learned a simple smog test can actually turn into a nightmare if you find yourself trying to resolve what the issues are. Jim is THE NICEST GUY EVER!!!!!!! Seriously, everybody go here. After getting turned down for a couple days at various other places (some because they said they couldn't test older vehicles, some because they just took one look at our van and just said no *coughthejerksatAAAcough*). Jim was SO nice and helpful with our crappy old van and did everything in his power to help us pass smog. We ended up needing to get a hose replaced for the evap test, but for the other part he actually took the time to warm the old girl up, because apparently most old vans fail if they get tested cold. I impressed with the level of care Jim had. For real, this dude is now on my Christmas list and I'll be going here every time I need to get smogged. read more

Jim Javadi is by far one of the most honest car people I have had the pleasure of working with! Not only has he communicated clearly on what was going on but checked my car, TWICE, before actually testing it to make sure it would pass. This was my brother and I's first time getting a Smog check for our two cars, but Jim and Superior Smog made the experience actually enjoyable. Jim was incredibly kind and professional, offering us water on a hot day and a place to sit in the shade. He was also very knowledgable, explaining to us what he was doing during the whole smog check, and offering advice for taking care of our cars. Jim Javadi is the man who assisted me today and he was the best. He is honest and won't hustle you. I went in a couple days ago to get it tested and he told me that my car was not going to pass. So he gave me some tips on how to make my car pass. He did not charge me for what he did. He just told me to by an emission cleaner and to run my car for a couple days. I came back 2 days later and my car passed. He said most places would have just let me fail and not care. I definitely recommend coming here. He is good man and knows what he is doing. read more

I've gone to Jim at Superior Smog twice now. The first time 2 years ago was quick and easy. This most recent time, my 2005 Toyota Highlander (with 300k miles on it) had a CAT monitor that wouldn't turn on. Jim guided me through it doing multiple tests, and told me how to perform a Toyota drive cycle, and we finally got the monitor to turn on and I passed smog without needing to buy any new parts or do any repairs! I'll go to Jim for all my future smogs, and recommend you as well. read more

There's not a lot of people in the automotive industry that I trust, however, Jim is WONDERFUL! Customer service is his #1 priority. My car has been a pain to pass smog. I took it to another smog place before Jim and they didn't really care about finding the problem, rather just telling me to come back to then be charged more money. After some not-great experiences at shady smog places, I'm relieved to find this one. The technician was very friendly and professional. He offered me a cup of coffee when I pulled in, and encouraged me to relax in the car while he ran the test. He explained the paperwork briefly and clearly. The fees are posted on the wall of the clean repair bay. I paid $65 for the test, including tax and debit surcharge. read more

I brought my car in after i was shopping around for a good deal in costa mesa and i found jim very friendly on the phone , he was able to get me the best price and very quick service , i didn't have to wait for so long . After two different people advised me to check this place out, I decided to give it a whirl. This was possibly the fastest, most convenient smog check ever, and even though I didn't have my DMV paper with me, Jim was able to look my info up and still transmit the result easily enough.
