But as far as the overall package goes, Tri Counties Bank has been awesome. I switched to Tri Counties several years ago, when the mega bank I was with (rhymes with bells bargo) changed their policy, they gave me no interest and they made it more difficult to avoid monthly checking fees. I looked at different local banks and credit unions, and decided on Tri Counties. They really do offer great service. I earn interest on my checking account. It's not a huge amount, but it's better than paying a fee. Though we rarely use ATMs outside of the bank and supermarkets, the ATM fees are refunded as promised. When issues have come up, they have called me personally --something that has never happened with any mega bank I've been with. Online banking and bill pay is easy. And when I discovered some questionable charges on my account, I called them up right away. They acted right away --they cancelled my card and reissued a new one, helped me understand how my number was stolen and gave me good advice for protecting my card in the future, and they refunded the $40 that was stolen from my account.
