If I could give this store a - 1 I would. I stopped in today as I was interested in purchasing perfume from a brand that few stores carry. In the cosmetics/perfume area, head banging music was blaring at a decibel level where I could hardly hear the salesperson that was trying to assist me. We were literally shouting at each other. She told me that 'the manager turns that on and then she goes upstairs'. Really? Is this a kiddy store or an ultra expensive department store? I placed a pre-order with Neiman Marcus a while ago, but I was double charged for a $1,700 bag -- the charge appeared twice on different days. When I checked my bank statement, I was shocked and immediately contacted customer service. Their response was absolutely unacceptable. The representative tried to explain the system using a condescending math example, and then told me to "figure it out," with a smirk in their voice -- it was mocking and humiliating. Genuinely the rudest worker I have ever met. I work in retail, and I would never treat someone that way. I sprayed something in the air because there were no tester strips in sight, and nobody seemed to be helping us (my mistake, i guess) and the associate working at La Prairie yelled at me to not spray it in the air, and began chastising me several times whilst shaking his head at me. Here at Neiman Marcus, this is quite a bit to take in, with a lot of products that will catch your eye, and how clean the store is. I found quite a variety that I don't personally find, but the choices to offer go for decision-making. The styles are fun to look at, and I'm sure you'll think the same. It's no surprise to fall into the trap of looking for quite some time. On a Sunday, I didn't find a lot of sales associates on the floor, despite it not being too busy, but something to see improve. The time of day I'm sure is a factor, which makes it understandable. They also provide the NM Cafe, which I didn't take note where it was until I looked on the website. Sales associates here seem helpful and friendly before you make a purchase, but that amicability seems to die once the order is complete. My mother-in-law purchased a handbag for me, but since it wasn't in stock, the sales associate offered to have it delivered directly to my home. When I asked about delivery times, she estimated it would get to me in around a week. Two weeks have now gone by without a peep, and since then, I've been given the runaround. I've made calls to the department, urgently requested callbacks, and even dialed the exact sales associate's number from her business card. Each time, it's felt like I've been given the brush-off. I'm tempted to call them out in light of the purchase price, but the truth is that no customer should be given such a hard time, regardless of how much an item cost. What's worse, I've had both friends and acquaintances who have had similar issues with Neiman Marcus orders - wrong shipments, no communication, and carelessly packaged or damaged luxury goods. Bottom line: Beware of placing in-store delivery orders here. You're better off purchasing available stock, or - better yet - someplace else. read more

The high end vibes of this store is scary to anyone that has limited budget like me :) I admit that the price of any item in the store is out of my financial senses. One came with no box and the bottom half of the leather was wrinkled and misshapened due to being stored without protection and the other bag was assymetrical at the rounded corners of the bag which is a manufacture flaw (mini camera bag). It's sad that they would ship out supposedly new, designer bags that do not match the quality of the price tag or designer label. Purchased a Christmas display item from NM. Poor and unhelpful service through the purchase and delivery experience. I ordered the item for Christmas in late November. After weeks chasing the order online and three different phone calls, the 'white glove' delivery came in early Jan, weeks late, went to the wrong address and then left behind an enormous pile of packaging for me to dispose of. Nice store, nice selection of things, but that's as far as it goes. The employees talk to you as though you're annoying them by shopping there. No smiles, no pleasantries, just flat faces and tones. And this was at multiple registers. One register had 3 employees standing there talking to each other, they barely acknowledged me for 3 minutes before one woman decided she was done talking and stormed back to her department. Not sure if race had anything to do with it, but it definitely felt that way, since other customers received more pleasant exchanges. So I was impressed that someone actually called me back about having my makeup application done before a wedding. I was staying at a nearby hotel and the Mall was very convenient for me. I was unable to schedule makeup at the two places referred to me by the hotel so I took a chance and called NM. They were unable to connect me to someone in cosmetics but took my phone number. I was pleasantly surprised to get a call back and even more thrilled to be told they would do my makeup for free! All I have to do was purchase three items. At first I was a bit taken back by this when the woman told me she worked for Chanel but I just had to buy any three things from cosmetics NOT only Chanel. Since I know pricing on cosmetics are set I figured I could get away paying about $75 and I would give her a nice tip $50. I do agree with many of the reviewers on not feeling comfortable in this high end store. From the moment you walk in there are workers are huddled together in groups of 2 or 3 and just look at you as you're walking by. No one greeted or asked if I needed assistance. Definitely not making you feel welcome. I had to step in front of the two cosmeticians to see if it was the person who called me, even though I texted her a message that I was on my way. The setup for makeup application is to put it generously, Poor. The lighting is not well placed and everything she had to get was on the other side of the counter so she had to continuously go back and forth. Luckily I had plenty of time. My makeup was done nicely and I was happy with the results. The part that really got me was that at the end she just says "OK which items can I get you? The lipstick, mascara and the moisturizer?" I ordered baccarat rogue 350 perfume for my daughter. I took almost a month with emails in between saying the order is detailed, the order was cancelled and then the order was reinstated. My daughter recut and I her excitement opened it and the smelled it only to find it was the wrong perfume. They sent the a la rose which was $50 less expensive and yet seemingly and conveniently for them forget to may the proper adjustment to my account. Very surprised for an upscale store. Today I walked into the shoe department to try on and purchase a Rene Caovilla shoe. Firstly I was not greeted by any of the 4 customer service reps standing on the floor. However, eye contact was made with me multiple times and then turned away. I held the shoe in my hands for about 3/6 mins as they proceeded to pursue their conversation and look at he occasionally. As a customer service rep myself for a know company I found that very unprofessional and I decided to take my business elsewhere since no one had the desire to help me. Sadly I have been discriminated against by this merchant for the 3rd time and this time I'm filing a lawsuit for racial discrimination. My wife and I decided to spend Christmas in our New York home, we currently live in New Jersey and decided to do all the tourist attractions over the holidays. I ordered a 1400 coat for her and 172 turtleneck for myself and have it shipped to the store because the package pirates are out this time of year. On the 11th December I picked up the coat which is the more expensive item and I used my expired ID to get it. The transaction went over well. I also had it gift wrapped. On the 17th of December I returned to pick up the turtleneck. The parking lot was a nightmare. So I called inside for curbside pickup. Young woman came down with the package and asked for my ID which clearly displays my name and my NJ address. She first says my ID is expired and then she explains she has to take the package back from me and get a manager to approve the release of it. I waited for her and she didn't return so I entered the store. Normally All I need is the confirmation email to pick up my package so I don't understand all of this. I go to the package pickup area and I confront the woman again and she calls the manager Vincent who right from the start is unprofessional and bias towards me. I tried to give him my Neiman Marcus Card which also has my name is current and he refuses to accept it or look up my account using my phone number. Let me add that as I looked up within moments of entering the store, security was right behind me and I never went anywhere near store merchandise on the shelves or racks. They followed me to the package pickup area and stood around while I spoke with Vincent. I wasn't getting nowhere with him so I told him to send it back and I will be bringing back the coat as well. I'm a black male age 57. I own one of the largest black owned construction companies in NJ and I am sick of being profiled by this company. Mind you every article of clothing that I was wearing came from them with the exception of my COACH knit hat. I was wearing 1200 Bally Boots, a 1400 Coat, and 600 PRPS matching warmup suit. All purchased from them. So if you're selling me high quality clothing and you're still profiling me, then you're profiling the color of my skin. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits this type of discrimination and intend to make them pay this time.
