Got seen by Dr Bhavya Akhouri for GI issues. Saw her mainly because she was a female despite there…read morebeing experienced and better doctors like Chepyala. She was totally clueless about my condition despite many visits. In the end she said she didn't know what I had. It couldn't be anything else and it couldn't be IBS. She had no answers for me. Oh and the colonoscopy she did, was so very painful. She seems to have absolutely no experience at all, I awoke during the procedure despite being sedated due to the pain and realized the nurses were pushing top down on my colon because it was too inflated by what Akhouri was doing incorrectly. I found myself pushing downward with my hands as well. It was intensely painful despite sedation and I have given birth with no pain relief as well. *Here's the ICING on the cake*: After the various fruitless appointments and no answers from Akhouri my PCP referred me to university of Iowa with a specialist for suspected Pancreas issues. Akhouri found out about this appointment (for which I waited 2 months with severe digestive issues) and Sent them an email that I didn't need that appointment because she thought I didn't have pancreatic problems (without any scans or tests). The specialist refused to see me and the appointment was cancelled without my knowledge. Later Akhouri's nurse calls me up to have me book more appointments with her telling me that I have GI issues and I must be seen, I could sense her panic that I was leaving their service to be seen elsewhere. Very dishonest, unethical business practices. I wouldnt touch her with a 10 feet pole if possible. I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT RECOMMEND DR BHAVYA AKHOURI.

I'm not going to go into detail, but it has been a life altering. My physician & psychiatrist both suggested me to make an appointment here, since the symptoms are getting worse and worse, and nothing else is seeming to work. I found this a little odd, a colonoscopy at 23?! I had never heard of it. But both my dad, and doctors insisted on this being scheduled, after a year of pain, to make sure there wasn't anything seriously wrong with my digestive system. So I submitted the form on line (was a little embarrassed) and got a pleasant voice mail from one of the receptionists. I forgot to call back & I received a letter in the mail notifying me that I needed to call back and make an appointment. So I did, and wow what a bad idea! I left a message and then got a call back right away from a woman named 'Tanya' a receptionist or something along those lines. She was one of thee RUDEST people I have ever spoken with over the phone, ever. I felt like I had done something wrong by calling. "YOU DO NOT NEED A COLONOSCOPY AT 23!!!" I was super polite and tried to explain the situation and my doctors referrals, but she just continued to make me feel like a complete idiot for calling. She said (in a snotty tone), "Ugh, I'll have to talk to one of the doctors to even see if you can get a pre-apt because I think you've gotten confused this is unnecessary. I'll call you back" Tanya are you one of the physicians here? If so please explain in more detail and what other options there are. I could not believe this. And I am from LA and am VERY USED to poor customer service. And to think she probably speaks with many older people is terrifying. She did call back and give me an appt. with Dr. Silber , in 2 months. We'll see how that goes, but hopefully it does not involve dealing with Ms. Tanya ever again!

I went in with my 3 month old daughter thinking I'd have a little bit of a wait at around 10am. Nope. There was no availability until 230pm!!!! So I asked if it'd be better for me just to take her to the emergency room, and the receptionist said it'd be about the same wait time! I was able to be seen after explaining what was going on with my daughter and a nurse agreed to squeeze us in. I appreciated the nurse and the doctor as they were very nice and understanding, but the fact still remains that there's really no walk-in availability. For my medical needs, I'm just going to have to go somewhere else as this does not suit my personal needs.

Do yourself a favor and check yourself in online by selecting an actual appointment time. The clinic does still take walk-ins, but your wait time will be much longer if you simply walk in. I also recommend choosing a very early morning appointment. My appointment was at 9:45am and there were only a few others waiting when I arrived. By the time I left my appointment (10:15am) the waiting room was packed. Dr. Niemeyer was great and even apologized for running late. In the short period of time I spent with her I liked her so much that I'd even choose her as my primary care Dr., although I'm not sure she does that. There were some pretty sick people waiting to be seen before me, and I didn't mind waiting. I appreciated the apology from Dr., nonetheless. I was in and out in 45minutes or so. Recommend this location because they're efficient and everyone was friendly. Big kudos because staff were constantly sanitizing the waiting room, exam rooms, and pretty much everything else on a regular basis (mind you, I was only there 45 minutes and saw this occur multiple times). If you are contagious, do yourself and everyone else a favor and wear a mask and sanitize your hands. Recommend.

Later that night of surgery they wanted to get her up to walk, it had now been around 15 hour and still no one had gotten her up to walk. also thru the night they only gave IV pain meds but the chart says to alternate between IV and oral. Also she left room to get a scan and when she came back to the roon no one hooked up her IV, we she to ask twice before some one came in. Everything just moves so so slow. I…read morespoke with her PSC and was told that Laura would need to review my information to see if I would be a good fit with her. I was then asked why I was wanting to change to a different PCP. I was honest with my answer. I then was told that if I didn't hear back in the next few days to call back. I ended up calling 3 different times to get this answer. Today was the 3rd time. I was put on hold so that her PSC could get an answer. I was told "Laura said no. She said that i wasn't going to be a good fit. This answer was based on my answer that i gave as to why I was looking for a new PCP. I have never had any negative interactions with my PCP. This was soley based on my personal feelings about the care I had been receiving. I was told that Laura practices the exact same way. That does not speak highly of her as a professional in her field!!! I was so upset when I got off the phone!! I did my research on providers, read their reviews, before I contacted them. For those patients who have positive experiences with her, I am really glad for you. But to be rejected by a provider based on wanting better care for myself is not ok!!! So to any potentially new patients who are looking to become established with her be very careful when you are asked why you are looking for a different provider!!!! Honesty may not be the best policy for you!!!
