The church was "closed" but she came outside to ask us, "Can I help you?" When I explained we were admiring the windows, she invited us in to see them from the inside. Wow! They were even more amazing!! She proceeded to show us the room with the church artifacts and history in it. That was above and beyond nice. It is delightful to run into a human being that actually seems to enjoy what they do for a living. Bless you!

While you can stop by anytime to hike the trails or visit the giftshop, to stay at the retreat, you need to schedule by email 4 months in advance. There will be a Monk to check you in-and they are very pleasant and provide great service. Regardless if you are religious or not a retreat here will separate you from your normal busy life and give you rest if you need a reset. The retreats are self guided. There is no talking except in specific locations or off grounds. The Monks gather to pray/chant the Psalms 7 times a day. Retreat folks & visitors can but not required to join in. I'd encourage you to check it out and do so. You might fumble a bit at first, but by the end of the weekend you'll have it down. There are also three meals a day served. I arrived on Friday afternoon, checked into my room. It overlooked the graveyard. The room was quiet, clean. I joined the monks for Vespers prayer service at 5:30, then enjoyed dinner, and then we gathered for the Retreat seminar led by Priest. Immediately after, we gathered for Compline prayers, the last service of the day. On Saturday I hiked the grounds, enjoyed the times of Prayers with the monks, and dived into Peter Brown's Biography of St. Augustine, finally finishing it after buying it in 2008. My phone had no data except in the library. It was spectucular. The meals were hot, simple & delirious, the prayers soothing, and honestly, I left feeling more rested and recharged than I had in years. Leave a donation for the monks, buy some items from the giftshop, let the silence and prayer orient you and give you some peace. Can't wait to do it again in November!

I have not attended a mass at this church but a few weekends ago I attended a piano recital inside the church of a family friend. The church has a nice sized parking lot with a cool little gazebo and nice playground. The inside is in the medium sized. The chairs or pews have a felt like material to them making them pretty comfortable. However they very much meet the stereotype of small country town church with no AC. It was boiling inside for the recital. Overall it's a pretty nice church and they did a good job of hosting the piano recital and supplied ample enough space and accommodations needed for the recital.

This is a great Bible based teaching church…read more Before the two services on Sunday (9:30 & 11:00) they offer free coffee, juice, milk, fruit, breakfast bars & donuts. There are two levels to sit during service with elevator access. They also offer a children's area where you can check the kids in for their own worship. (see pics) Aldo a teen area as well. The volunteers/staff/workers, or what ever you want to call them are all friendly. I've never once felt looked down on or judged because I was in jeans or munching on donuts while filling up my large coffee mug!! The parking lot is large with plenty of area by the doors for drop off and pick up. Inside is large as well with several different rooms upstairs for different classes they offer through out the year. The classes coming up for the year can be viewed on their Web site. The church is a "come as you are" church which means wear what you want. I've seen people in shorts and t shirts along with people in suits and dresses. I wear jeans and a nice shirt which I usually see the most. The age group of this church is all over the board. In other words all ages are there so you can't say it's a young church or an old church. When each service is over they have a police man directing traffic out onto the main road which makes getting out of the parking lot a breeze!!! One thing I notice this church does often is they have social gatherings outside throughout the year. Such as cookouts, and during Halloween they always hold a Trunk or Treat which is a large safe event for the trick or treaters.
