I lived here for two years and was sad to move back home after graduating from MSU. During the start of the pandemic, management even made a point to order all of the residents lunch and dinner twice. Since the previous two reviews, this place has been under new management and is much better for it. I have lived in Nemoke Trails for two years now (August of 2015) and have had no problems other than the usual apartment problems with them. They are an older complex, so the window AC unit doesn't cool down the whole apartment, but with it being Michigan weather, it's not that big of a deal. The heat is also gas and costs a lot, but I'm on the second floor and let the other apartments heat mine. The office staff is incredibly nice and accommodating and maintenance responds within 24 hours, unless it's an emergency and then they are they immediately. Love this place. read more

Wow! Can you say exceed my expectations? Austin, when I come into the clubhouse for my complementary cup of coffee, a member of the staff at Nemoke Trails does something to make my day just that much better. As I write this review, I am enjoying amenities which surround me. Nemoke Trails has a beautiful indoor swimming pool with hot tub, a sauna and workout room, a community center and business center, many trails and a newly built dog park. There is so much to enjoy here, that I need to remind myself to get my other work finished. Trust me, that is a great problem to have after a hard day at work! read more

This place is absolutely horrible. I had lived here for several years and the apartments are old and falling apart. Every time maintenance comes they seem to cause another problem on top of the one they were trying to fix. If they even fix the first one. In the winter they barely plow the complex and the sideways. It is often very slippery and usually, when they do plow the complex, they will plow you to the point you have to shovel yourself out. They also shut the boilers off early and turn them on too late. They don't care how many people complain. The windows are super old so there are lots of drafts. They will also jack your rent up by quite a bit each year. Even though the price might be a little bit cheaper, it is DEFINITELY NOT worth it. read more

So, I'm really surprised reading the other reviews on here because I love the management at Nemoke Trails and I also love my apartment. When I first moved out here I only had 2 weeks to find a place that was both pet friendly and quiet (as I'm a grad student and I have a dog), and Nemoke Trails is both of those. It's also priced very reasonably and the apartment is in great shape as are the rest of the facilities (including an indoor pool and sauna!). The staff at the office has been extremely helpful and kind and I have definitely tested them multiple times (just because of my own disorganized student lifestyle), but every time they have come through and made me feel like I was a valued resident. Nemoke Trails is awesome, highly recommend! read more

I'm writing this review because it makes me sad every time I see the other reviews. I have lived here for about three years, and it's been a pretty positive experience. The previous manager remembered my name every time I went into the office, which I thought was pretty crazy considering how many tenants there are. Everyone is always very friendly when I go into the office to pick up a package, and the few times I have had maintenance requests, they were handled immediately. The grounds are always well-kept, and the management constantly encourages people to be mindful of things like smoking and pet waste. There are constantly community activities happening at the apartments--from holiday meals to food drives to pet adoptions--and they try very hard to make everyone feel welcome and included. Yes, the apartments are older, and I'm not crazy about having to pay to do laundry (hence the four stars instead of five), but overall, I think they go above and beyond to make this a real community, and I appreciate that. If I end up getting screwed over when it's time for me to move out (as one reviewer suggested will happen), I will be sure to update my review. For now, I think it's a good place to live, in a very pretty area, and you should check it out. read more

Very unprofessional management inter relationships ( romantic relationship). They will be quick to fine you or tow your vehicle without effort to contact owner. Maintenance staff take good care of residents issues depending on who is sent to help. All in all I wouldn't recommend this place to ANYONE!! read more

Apartments are pretty nice. But the management is absolutely terrible. They are not upfront about some of the fines and policies at the lease signing, which can be a huge problem at move out. So be extra careful if you are signing a lease there. They never give you the full story! read more

For reasons unrelated to my apartment at Nemoke Trails, I recently moved to California, but if I had stayed in Michigan, I would have continued living at Nemoke Trails, no question. My apartment was clean, bright, and well-maintained; management was friendly, helpful, and responsive; maintenance requests were easy to submit and always handled promptly and politely; the grounds were well kept and peaceful; and the location was very convenient to so much of Haslett/Okemos/East Lansing. I saw another review that mentioned the AC units don't cool the whole apartment, and it's true that they are a little outdated, but they did the job pretty well and I was never in danger of spontaneously combusting. Rent was very affordable, especially for the space and location. I would recommend Nemoke Trails to anyone looking for a nice, peaceful apartment with solid management and amenities. Special shoutout to Alyssa, who was extremely helpful with getting my lease set up, and Josh, who mans the phones and helps troubleshoot any issues that come up like a pro - thanks! read more

The apartments are ok but very outdated and lack in basic amenities.I moved here from out of state so I had to rely on renting a place by information found online.I was quoted $640/monthly over the phone yet when I arrived in michigan needing to move in right away the price suddenly jumped up to $745/monthly for the same two bedroom one bath unit.They knew they had me pinned because I literally had nowhere else to go. Also it was a weekend so I was stuck with signing or would quite honestly have been homeless.The excuse was they had already rented the unit that was over a hundred dollars cheaper only a day before.They said the difference between the two was getting the "sterling upgrade".Let me tell you what the "Sterling Upgrade" is...I got white cupboards instead of outdated wood.That's it.It is almost comical to imagine someone calling that an upgraded unit. Also it was very important for me to rent a place with a gym.Nemoke Trails gym looks beautiful from the pictures online and of course the staff made it sound like it was state of the art.I didn't mind paying extra for the gym, pool, hot tub, etc rather than getting a gym membership.I was so disappointed when I realized what they actually call their gym.The few machines they have are so beat up and old they don't even work half the time.There are no weights at all which they claimed to have.It's so funny but the nicest thing they have to offer is a Gazelle.I laughed so hard because Gazelle's are from the same time period as the thigh master.Where do you even find one?It's filthy in the gym and often times there are people in there who don't even live there playing on the equipment.I don't use the gym needless to say and it makes me mad I have to pay for a gym membership monthly because Nemoke staff was so dishonest about their gym. Which brings me to another point...There are always people in the pool and hot tub who do not live there.I have asked many of them and they just say Oh I know the code to get in.It's awful because it'll be like 15 kids with one or two adults all crowding in the hot tub or being obnoxious running around splashing, screaming and getting the water filthy.The people I've seen are so gross as far as hygiene so I don't use the pool or hot tub either.I quite literally watched the hot tub turn green in one evening and heard two little boys say they peed in it. The worst part is the management though.Ever since Leah took over things have gotten worse.She is one of those people who has to put her name and The words apartment manager with it on everything.Like OK Leah we all get that YOU are THE MANAGER.She must be very proud of her title because she is non stop finding ways to inform us.She is horrible at her job.She is unfriendly, and to top it off she's a moron.Nothing gets done ever.Please do yourself a favor and don't rent at Nemoke trails.You pay a ridiculous amount in rent and have to pay utilities seperate.I pay about $120 a month for conservice(gas,water,trash) and another $150 a month for consumers.No point in cutting back on lights because we pay as a building.The manager takes the entire building's electric bill and divides it up by the amount of people in that building and charges us that way.It is so unfair because I am rarely home and do not use very much electricity but I have neighbors who are home all day and are always playing x-box, leaving lights on all night, etc.I think it is so unfair to make people pay for other people's excessive bills.I will not be renewing my lease and I have never been so unhappy as a renter in my life.I have rented more than 20 different apartments over my lifetime and Nemoke Trails is by far the worst.Don't let them fool you.With rent and utilities I pay a little over a thousand dollars a month and I just live by myself.It is not woth the amount of money for such a headache. Get rid of Leah, update your facilities, re-think the way utilities are billed, etc. or Leah is going to run it into the ground.That I guarantee. read more

Management is indeed despicable. I was told utilities wouldn't be more than $50 a month. Lie! It's $200+ each month and even worse in the winter. It's completely unfair to divide the bill up among the tenants. I get to pay a portion of everyone else's heat water, gas etc., I was told pets were allowed--I paid a $200 pet fee/deposit plus $20 a month--after I moved out, they sent me a bill for carpet cleaning. Muffin is an indoor cat who never went outside her litterbox. Furthermore, that carpet was older than Methusela and needed to be replaced. The countertops were so old that they separated from the wall by 3/8+ of an inch. When I brought that to their attention they said they'll caulk it. There was too much space between the counter top and the wall, so they caulk just fell onto the floor in between the cracks. The neighbor upstairs started a bath and forgot about it. There was so much water damage that it ruined my kitchen cabinets. I figured management would fix it. Wrong. They said it wasn't their fault. Well, it's not my fault. The buildings and common areas never got cleaned during my 12 month tenancy. The garbage in the laundry room was emptied every other week--that's it. The laundry room floor is covered in dirt. The sink basin was clogged and had grey stagnant water for 2 months. The front and back doors to the building never locked so anyone could walk in off the streets. I repeatedly requested for things to be fixed. Leah P ignored EVERY request. When I sent a certified letter asking for items to be fixed. She responded finally. She was very angry and said if I didn't like it that I was more than welcome to move. So, I did. If you want to be treated with respect, do not move into Nemoke Trails or Castle Point in East Lansing (she "manages" there too.) Leah is a horrible manager and I cannot imagine how desperate the person who hired her was. Leah is unprofessional, angry and unresponsive to tenants. She'll be nice trying to get you to apply and move in but it's pure h%ll after that. BEWARE! Do not move here. My personal opinion based on my experience is that you are better off living in a tent than any place that has Leah as a manager. Hopefully the owners/corporate office get rid of her before she puts the final nail in the coffin. She is taking this place down. Oh, and they don't tell you until you come to sign the lease that they require you to give 60 days notice to vacate. That's deceptive and a huge problem. If I'd have known that, I'd never have moved in. read more
