Jon was rude one time to the staff, her name is Lisa, she is the manager. She called him asking for money that was already paid. She was clueless, so he matched her energy and she did not like it. Other than that, Jon was not rude to the staff. Lisa was also extremely rude to me. During my time, my ex was abusive and going through a dispute with me over the tenancy. I enlisted the help of Lisa, who went to her boss. When I followed up, Lisa said "My boss told me to stay out of it". I could not BELIEVE that response. I was just trying to get guidance and support as I took over the rental payments again. Lisa did not care, she would have none of it. So when I noticed people putting furniture in the dumpsters(a violation of the lease), I didn't tell Lisa. I decided to stay out of it. This place is not great. They have had several maintenance staff issues, and they had three managers before I moved in. The turnover is ridiculous. The rent is incredibly high. I remember paying my rent one time(admittedly late), and Lisa still sent me a summons. So I called her, and she told me "What is going on? What are they doing in that attorneys office". Lisa was completely clueless. My property manager was completely clueless. She told me she had been doing property management for 35 years, yet I don't understand why she still finds new situations or the job challenging.

With the requirements we needed we were very limited and that is why we picked Lakewood. From the day we moved in we regretted our decision. The apartment smelled and the floors were dirty. The neighbors were loud and dogs barked all the time. Any time we brought this to the managements attention nothing was done. Neither of us are real picky people and even we found this place terrible. Not only did we have to pay for our own electricity, but every month we had an additional electric bill to cover the complexes electricity. It was about a 800 sq ft apartment and our electric bill was more than what we pay in our 2000 sq ft house. There was just a lot of shady things about the bills. The apartment states that it has a pool but I would never go in it. For starters they did not even open it until mid July and even then it was filled with leaves and pine needles. Management was always very rude any time we had to come in contact with them. I have lived in many apartments and never had such a terrible experience in my life. Bottom line....DO NOT RENT HERE UNLESS IT IS BETWEEN THIS APARTMENT AND BEING HOMELESS.

As a woman living alone I felt that I could no longer continue to live somewhere with so many apartment and car break ins. My neighbor across the hall had their window smashed and the cops were pounding on my door at 3AM to ask if I had any information about a "crime". Castle Pointe said that after this event they would be installing additional lighting and cameras on the property, but 4 months later and they still have not done so. They did install locks on the outside doors, however many of these are also broken. Last winter a skunk moved under the steps of my building. The smell was so awful that my eyes watered and I felt nauseated for several days. CP's response was "well that happens sometimes". They did not keep the residents up to date about the status of our new neighbor and it took over a week for him to be evicted (which we only figured out because the smell went away). I have lived in apartments for the past 20 years and never had a place give me plastic to cover the windows in the winter because they were so bad. However, take the plastic and put it on your windows or you will freeze! They will also increase your rent every single year by about $100 a month despite there being no improvements to the property and they will offer new renters a MUCH cheaper price. My apartment was very dirty upon move in and my shower was clogged with the previous resident's hair. My laundry room was absolutely disgusting and dirty. The price for laundry was high considering the dryer literally left burn marks on my clothes because it got so hot. The gym ceiling leaked whenever it rained and the machines would just sit in a puddle of water which didn't seem very safe. At one point every single treadmill was broken and it took 4 months for them to be fixed. Which is a bit ridiculous considering you have to pay $75 to have access to the gym 24/7. They did allow me to break my lease however I did have to pay the termination fee, despite being afraid for my safety. CP's redeeming quality is the maintenance team. All the guys are very nice, helpful, and prompt. The dog park is also cute but unfortunately a lot of residents don't pick up the poop.

As you can see from previous reviews (see attached screenshots) the owners love to say "you must have the wrong place. We have no record of you". So please take their responses with a grain of salt. To confirm, I DID live here from May 2023 to August 2024. I lived off of Melling Way. The place was not clean upon moving in. Dark hairs were in the sink, on the counter. There were leftover dishes from previous occupants. There was a hole in the shower. In apartment building G, there is a hole in the wall next to the stairs that has been there since we moved in. Air conditioning does not work here! My apartment was 85 degrees in the day, 80 degrees at night. When maintenance came over, the gentleman said "It's gonna be that hot. It's 90 degrees out". This is simply not true. I was on the third floor. Yet, I had friends in different apartment complexes in East Lansing on the fifth floor of their apartments and their apartments miraculously stayed at 70 degrees. My air conditioning ran CONSTANTLY during the summers here and our air conditioning bills were often over $200 for a 2 bed 2 bathroom apartment. Additionally, the air conditioning was set to 70 degrees at night and 72 during the day, so nothing crazy. Maintenance did put freon in the air conditioner but that doesn't fix the fact that the units are very old and the apartment is terrible insulted (for example, I had icicles in my window during the winter) I did speak to Liz, the assistant manager. She was very kind. Maintenance, on the other hand, can get quite rude and tried to gaslight me into saying that an inside temperature of 85 degrees is completely normal. The leasing office is always closed. They say they're open 9am - 6pm Monday through Friday. What they don't tell you is that every other week, they will randomly send out an email at 1:00pm on a Friday saying they're closed now. It seems as though the employees don't want to do their jobs. This can be frustrating, as the Amazon Hub where your packages get delivered and the gym and pool are only accessible when the leasing office is open. You are able to purchase a fob for $75 to get 24/7 access. Mind you, most apartments give their tenants this same access for free since they are already paying for rent and the amenities come with the property. If you live here and want to use their amenities, just know you will probably have to pay $75 since this leasing office likes to close all of the time. The car lots are often full of cars that do NOT have licenses or updated tags. The leasing office sends out many emails saying your cars should be tagged, have a license plate, and be up to date. However, they do not follow through. I had multiple cars in my parking lot that did not have a license plate or their tags were not updated.  Overall, I would not recommend this place. It is not worth the money, time, or effort!

Parking can be tricky, but the landlord offers spots for cheaper than the permits the local garages offer. It is an older building, so there were maintenance issues from time-to-time, but the landlord is extremely accessible. He answered every call, even in the middle of the night, and was always prompt in response. Apartments are kept clean and well-maintained, and the landlord will notify well in advanced if he has to enter your apartment for any reason. There is plenty of space and fantastic features such as a dishwasher and garbage disposal. I truly loved my time living here, and I would recommend it to anyone who is interested!

The location is prime for the pice, you literally can't get closer for cheaper in East Lansing. Our unit was the smallest one in the building, but we really made it charming. The parking around the area can be tricky, but the rates for spots on the building are less than the other garages nearby. Even though the building is old, a lot of the appliances inside are updated and modern. The bathrooms are beautiful and the kitchen looks new. While yes there were some moments when the older building came into play, the landlord was there efficiently to fix things. The apartment above us flooded one time (and on a holiday too) and the landlord was there within the hour to help us dry our floors and provide assistance. If there were any other issues, I could very easily call or text him and would get a fast reply. I could not recommend this place enough, Masonic Temple Apartments will always hold a special place in my heart.

Building has a trash chute which was very convenient. the Block 600 complex down the street requires you to walk about 7 minutes down and out of the building to the dumpster to trash away so this was underrated.

I wish there was an exercise room! The outdoor areas are walker-friendly. Corridors are well-lit. I have never felt unsafe. The grounds are well cared for. Ample notice is given if maintenance will be performed on common areas. The new owner, I think it's a large national chain, has implemented some changes. I renewed my lease recently. The monthly "rent" per pet doubled. Ouch! My monthly rent (without pets) went up $50/month at annual renewal, when before it went up $25/month at annual renewal. If we lose the new swipe cards to access the garage, the replacement fee is $75, where before it was $25. We now have to pay water, sewer and trash, which they arrange, for an additional monthly fee of $35 for a two-bedroom. So instead of paying $915, I'll be paying $1,000. The grounds and buildings are still well maintained. The staff and neighbors are still friendly. I still love living there. I'm just not sure how long I can afford to stay.
