First off, this has been a staple in Detroit for a million years. It's the classic dive bar - old Michigan sports memorabilia and frankly, old in general. Been here a handful of times and I am never disappointed. The staff is great, the patrons all share similar causes (Detroit sports), as well as the food is pretty darn good. First time visit for my bride. Stopped in last night needing a good burger. To our surprise, since we chose to not sit on the bar side, there was live entertainment on the flip side that was very good. Likewise the beverages were chilled to perfection. As to the burger, it was perfect, both of us ordered medium and it came out as desired with the appropriate toppings. My bride said we could come back and we will!!! First of all, I love the exterior of this bar with the green and white! Nate and I stopped in for a drink while staying at the Godfrey across the street. This bar is homey and cozy, with a "Cheers" feel where everyone is welcomed in, from out of towners to regulars. We grabbed a table on the bar side and browsed the menu. We were heading to dinner shortly after, so we didn't order any food, but the prices were cheap and I'd go back for a good bar grub meal. I got an Irish coffee (fitting for this Irish bar) and Nate got a beer - they were quick to come out and my drink was strong. It took a few tries to flag someone down to grab our tab, but they were hustling as the whole bar side was full. Overall, Nemo's is a good dive bar with a decent menu and cheap drinks. Talk about a FRESH cheeseburger! It was absolutely delicious. Made to order and our waitress was so kind and gave us history of the establishment, where beef is sourced and that its ground DAILY. Well we dropped in after not being there in 10 years or so. The $10 burger is tasteless and I really did not appreciate the thin and stand sesame seed hamburger buns. Wife's was stale too. I tried the clam chowder which is really a tasty and very hot vegetable soup. NO CLAM chowder or even wanna be Chan chowder. Definitely not worth trying. We won't be back . Such a fun place! We usually go on opening day, but was in Detroit with a friend around lunchtime and he had never been so we went. The kitchen is being renovated right now so they only have a limited menu, but the burger was delicious! The people are so friendly and service is always great! could not wait to get there! we called first they finally answered after 5 tries and said hello?? not Nemos. just hello. Took seats at a table across from the bartender. Rude and unhappy person. We wanted burgers. Bartender NEVER took our food order. we were there for over an hour. Another couple came in and the bartender took our menu off our table and tossed it on the other table, still no food service. LIke it was an in convenience. Thank god for a regular who was able to get us shots. They also did not have titos and charged .50 for a splash of juice. Worse service ever, just an angry man. I would have fired him on the spot. Homey, old school bar that has weathered the loss of Tiger Stadium and the ups and downs of the neighborhood. They have the best collection of Detroit sports paraphernalia since the late, great Lindell AC and while the Nemo's framed front pages and other souvenirs of bygone eras might not be quite historical museum ready like the Lindell's were, I think the cash register might be. Just the sounds that thing makes are a nostalgia trip. I wonder how much it weighs cause man, does it ever look hefty. Green is the dominant color here, and I love the green and white tablecloths, a great Irish twist on the red and whites you'd associate with an Italian restaurant. I've never been in Nemo's on the day of the St. Patrick's Day parade (the Sunday before St. Patrick's Day) or on St. Paddy's Day itself, but I can tell you with great confidence it's absolutely apeshit around here. I'm sure the staff brings all their old school surly to the fore to maintain order as best they can but I'd say avoid Nemo's on those days unless a shitshow is what ya want, laddies and lassies. The menu here is pretty limited, but that's part of the charm of this place. They make a mean burger and some pretty good fries. It's a decent sized but not particularly large burger so if you're famished or you camp out for a long time putting a few away you can probably eat two. I've only actually eaten the burgers here although I've asked about other options a couple times. (I've never seen a paper menu but their web site lists maybe four or five options.) The barkeep tells me the chicken sandwich is really good, and I consider it before ordering another burger. Hey if it ain't broke.... (That's actually a good motto for Nemo's.) This is a beer and a shot joint as you might have surmised by this review so far. I laughed out loud at the reviewer who was irate that they didn't muddle the mint in her Mojito on Kentucky Derby day. That's just beautiful, absolutely heroic! As a bartender I can tell you I'd rather make two blender drinks than one damn Mojito. There's a good sized outdoor seating area with a tent overhead and a tv for watching a ballgame when it's nice out, or for huddling and sucking down a cancer stick in the dead of winter. My buddy Jimmy Murphy loves coming to Nemo's for beers, burgers and a ballgame and it's no wonder, they've got the Murphy family crest up on the wall. Oh yeah, I think they still run a shuttle to all Tigers and Red Wings games. Not sure about the Pistons and Lions but it's an old school bus revamped into a party bus. They've also got a little parking lot off Michigan next to the tent and Astro turf patio that is also accessible from the alley off 8th. Looks like it can fit 17 vehicles if Google Maps is to be believed. Not sure what else to say here but now I can't stop thinking about that Nemo's burger which kinda sucks since its 2:30am. read more

Nemo's is an interesting place. The only things on the menu are fries and burgers which is respectable but the fries stink. They are hard and not salted enough. The burger was really standard. It is a pretty thick patty but not tons of flavor. The service was really slow but it seemed like the bar tender was also the chef and waiter. He was really nice but took awhile to come to our table. The food and drinks are very reasonable and it is a good place to watch sports with TVs all over. There are a lot of tables and a bar that wraps around into a second room which is pretty cool. There is also a tent outside with a bunch of tables and corn hole to play. They offer bus rides to Ford Field or Comerica for Lions & Tigers home games which is awesome. The ride is $5 or sometimes free and they usually have game day specials. read more

What?? I have not reviewed Nemo's yet? That's crazy! This is a spot we frequent often. It's a go to spot. A lot of places folded when Tiger Stadium closed. But they figured out how to remain open. They offer shuttles to and from the games for something like $1. The bar is not huge and is usually pretty crowded. Opening day 2021 was a bit different though. 50% capacity and social distancing enforced makes for an opening day that is a bit different. But not bad either. Nemo's has parking on site but they often close the lot off and put up outdoor seating. I have no idea what they do to their burgers but they are on par with some of the best in the area. It's a rather simple burger but it's juicy and perfectly cooked. So much delicious flavor. They have a great beer selection and this is definitely the place to be before any lions or Tigers game! I wandered in because it was across the street from my hotel and I was looking for a sandwich for lunch. The place is an old dive bar that many locals seem to frequent. The bartenders were friendly. We talked about the history of the neighborhood , which he was well versed in since him as well as the other staff have worked there for 30+years! Nothing fancy on the menu, just good old fashioned comfort food Served in a paper plate. Prices were great, my tuna melt was delicious. For me it's sometimes nice to find a locals spot and get away from chains and fine dining. I find it's the best way to get to know the area. I would definitely go back if I'm ever in that part of Detroit again. read more
