The tower for the new zip line ride being constructed on Fremont Street.
    Norm K.

I'm going to agree with Oscar and give Neonopolis 4 stars for what it's becoming rather than for what it is now. The place is no longer on life support and it shows many signs of life and the future looks brighter from the past years when a few restaurants and shops opened and quickly closed for lack of business. Telemundo coming and renting a good portion of the area for its studios was a boost. The new Denny's is certainly a boost. There is a new bar, Drink and Drag, that garners good reviews from the Yelp crew. Finally, the new zip line ride is being constructed right in the middle of the place. All these things point to renewed hope for the concept which never really made a go until now. This morning, I had breakfast at the new Denny's. I parked in the underground garage which is very, very handy! One flight of stairs to walk up and I was there. I was surprised when I got to the booth that there was no charge for the parking. Their website says free parking with validation but Denny's doesn't validate. Perhaps it was because I was less than an hour and it was a weekday morning. Whatever the case, it was a nice bonus. We are so spoiled by the free parking common in Las Vegas. I'll make a point of coming here more often. I want to ride the new zip line when it's done. Seems like it would make a good UYE.

I stayed at the Fremont Hotel during my Vegas trip recently. I decided to take a walk down the Fremont Street Experience heading eastbound and noticed a Denny's Restaurant and the International Eatery Food Court. I walked around the lower level and noticed a few stores. There was a tattoo parlor, Toy Shack, American Sports Trading Cards, Celestial Comics, a e-vapor lounge, a Mediterranean restaurant, the Heart Attack Grill, and there was a stage area. The second floor consisted of the Southern Nevada Museum of Fine Arts, the main office for the Neonopolis building, a bowling lane which is opened after 5pm, a office for architecture design, as well as several empty store fronts. There was a third level heading towards the theaters but it was blocked off. Parking is located underground for customers. Right in the middle of Fremont Street and in front of the International Eatery food court and Walgreens is also the beginning for Slotzilla Zip line. The adventurous individuals can choose one of two rides. The first one is a short ride that stops in front of Fremont Hotel. The longer ride continues on towards the west end of Fremont Street Experience. Hopefully in the near future there will be more stores added to the Neonopolis shopping center.

This place is full of shoppes, restaurants, and eclectic venues. A new cannabis museum just opened in here as well. It has private parking garage too, with reasonable prices. Area was very clean and kept. It is at the beginning of the Fremont Experience.

This is my favorite place to park at Fremont Street because the hourly rate tops out at a maximum of $9.

Clean. Busy. Dangerous for the wallet. This is the kind of place where you walk in saying, "I'm…read morejust going to browse," and thirty minutes later you are carrying bags like you just got sponsored by capitalism. The sales were strong too. Real deals. Not the fake discount gymnastics where the original price looks like it was invented by someone with a gambling problem. The stores were good across the board. Easy to shop. Good selection. Plenty of options. Shoes. Clothes. Accessories. All the usual suspects ready to ruin your budget politely. Every store had something worth looking at, which is exactly how they get you. You think you are disciplined until you see a sale rack whispering your name like a Vegas slot machine. It was definitely busy. People everywhere. Bags swinging. Families negotiating. Someone's dad standing outside a store looking like he lost the will to continue. Classic outlet behavior. But even with the crowd, the place still worked. It did not feel dirty or chaotic. Just active. Like everyone collectively agreed to make poor financial decisions before lunch. The property was clean and well maintained. Walkways were nice. Stores felt organized. Nothing felt run down. That matters because once you are walking around in Vegas heat, you need the place to at least look like it respects your suffering. Service depended on the store, but overall it was solid. Staff kept things moving. Checkout lines were manageable. Nobody had to act brand new over a coupon code. Las Vegas North Premium Outlets is worth the stop. Great sales. Good stores. Clean space. Busy, but in a way that makes sense. Bring comfortable shoes, patience, and maybe a spending limit you are fully prepared to ignore. it's giving... We parked in the parking garage across from Macy's. (Hubby has a hard time when it comes to parallel parking. Being from the Bay Area, that's a way of life for us!) Checked out the following stores: Lush, the Lego store, Macy's, Dillard's, Nordstrom Rack, & Rack Room Shoes. It is a walking-centered shopping center, but some drivers are not letting peds walk in the designated crosswalks. Shame. (In Cali, if you don't give right of way to the peds, you get a ticket!) The shade is nice. So it wasn't so bad. We definitely got a lot of steps in. We also walked to the water feature, that we remember our son being obssessed with, when he was a wee one.

I did come across a few clothing stores I genuinely enjoyed, which isn't always easy to find. The landscaping is beautifully done. The greenery, open spaces, and overall layout give it a polished, inviting feel. It's clearly been designed to create an experience, not just a place to shop. The information booth is well positioned and generally helpful, although I was surprised they couldn't direct me to something as simple as a fresh green drink. I later found what I was looking for at True Food Kitchen, which seems like a fairly obvious recommendation in a center like this. My one real issue is the sheer size of the property. It's expansive... more of a campus than a traditional shopping center. What starts off as a pleasant stroll can quickly turn into a long trek, especially if you're not prepared. Comfortable shoes are not optional here. By the end of it, I found myself more tired than I expected. It's a beautiful place, but the scale can work against you if you're trying to cover a lot of ground in one visit.

Are the discounts really worth it? I guess it depends on what you end up buying. In my latest experience I did end up saving some money because I checked prices online for a specific store. First, the parking garage has several elevator banks with total of six elevators. One full bank in inoperative, two elevators that went to the walkway, where the only way to ground level is escalators, and the UP escalator was broken, and one elevator that went inoperative while at the outlet store. As a wheelchair patron, I had to go several places just as work around to get to the car to the stores. This is unacceptable, driving a trying to dodge traffic and going extremely out of the way to get from the garage to the stores is difficult for a wheelchair patrons! The extra star is ONLY because for the excellent customer service received from the employees of the stores!

And a little gambling at adjacent Planet Hollywood too. I've heard this referred to as a "locals place" and I don't know if that's true, but there are several restaurants here that regularly make the lists of "cheap eats" put out by local influencers. Like several other Vegas malls, the ceilings are painted for atmosphere and there are even two free shows - a rain show and the Lost City Show. They have the usual annoying cosmetic stores with the women literally chasing after you, proffering samples. It's like a Vegas plague. There are souvenir stores and ABC stores of course. But there are some unusual gems too. Dr. Fish is where you can go for the fish pedicure experience (get yourself a Groupon). There is a massage place. There are shows at the Theaters and a food court with some unique choices. The only downside is if you're planning to leave using a rideshare. If you are, there IS a designated Miracle Mile Shops rideshare area, but most drivers don't seem to acknowledge it, so they will inevitably go to Planet Hollywood and leave you standing outside in a garage area waiting. It's frustrating and it happens to us every time we go there. And every time, the drivers have insisted that the correct spot to pick up is Planet Hollywood. So plan ahead on that or maybe just give in exit through Planet Hollywood. Good way to end a pretty solid afternoon.

She told me she was from Las Vegas and because she was a local I asked her where she liked to spend her free time. Her eyes lit up. I know in her industry the focus is always the customer but I'm guessing it was rare for her that a customer asked what she liked to do. She told me that she enjoyed visiting Container Park and told me to check it out during the daytime but also nighttime just to experience the contrast. She even told me about the mantis art piece. I thanked her for the suggestion and she did a great job styling my hair. I never forgot her kindness. So on two separate visits to Vegas I went with different groups of friends and fam to Container Park. It's such a fun and welcoming open space with cute shops and restaurants in former shipping containers. I liked the concept of reusing things in creative ways. If an object can be repurposed instead of going into the landfill then that's always the better option. Sure enough I saw the Giant Metal Mantis show at night. It's a pretty unique and fun place for kids and adults.
