I've never patronized any business that was worse with availability. The hours shown online and on Apple Maps are incorrect. You have to show up and see that the actual hours are posted on the window. They gave me the wrong contact prescription and I've been trying to get it corrected so I can order lenses for the last 2 weeks but they are the most impossible freaking place to reach. Do not go here. They will also blast you with spam texts to sell you Botox too. Wtf read more

Their price per unit on Botox/Dysport is good but if you don't agree to get a huge amount injected, they won't inject you at all. Seriously, he wanted to inject 70+ units when I've been getting 30 for the last 5 years. Instead of just doing the same dose that I've always gotten and that definitely works great, he gave me this whole long mansplaining speech about how it won't work and ultimately refused to inject at all. It was really rude and a huge waste of time. Don't go here unless you want to be talked into getting a huge dose (and charged accordingly, which I'm sure is why he refused to do my normal lower dose). read more

I've received IPLs from Lenka & was satisfied with the results. My skin intentions were to improve hyperpigmentation. Other staff members including Dr. Gibson, are also friendly/professional. They offer vision services as well as services you'd find at a med spa (BOTOX, other fillers, laser hair removal). I went today to redeem my $179 Groupon for 20 units of Botox. The procedure went well, and Dr. Gipson was a true professional. However, upon checking out, I received a receipt for an unfulfilled balance of $179. A staff member explained that I was given 40 units instead of 20, and the extra 20 units was an additional charge. I asked for a reimbursement as I had already purchased the Groupon, and was never told about the extra units or up charge. I asked to speak with someone who could resolve the issue. I was told the doctor would see me to discuss. He stated that he told me that I "needed" 40 units of Botox for my forehead wrinkles, however, I was never asked if I wanted to add 20 more, and that it would be an additional charge. I explained that a car mechanic makes "suggestions" about what your car needs, but this doesn't mean that you're obligated to pay for anything that you didn't ask for. Dr. Gipson saw that I was steadfast on receiving my money back, so he ended with, "I'll honor your request because I value your opinion". This is the only reason it wasn't a zero. read more

LOVE Dr. Gipson!!!!! I actually use the Charleroi location and not Pittsburgh but my mother sees him at the Pgh location. He is personable, compassionate, and friendly. He's always giving me extra Botox at no cost. I went elsewhere for a consultation thinking I could try Dysport. It would cost way more to equal what I get in Botox. (10 units of Dysport = 1 unit of Botox). When I told the technician doing my consult what Dr. Gipson charges me for 50 units of Botox, she asked for his info for herself and told me to always see him. I left that place and did a same day appointment with Dr. Gipson. He is amazing! read more

*This review is for laser hair removal* This office and service has been top notch! I purchased a Groupon for 6 laser hair removal sessions and it has been a breeze. The appointment system has been easy and when I needed to change an appointment they were very accommodating. All of my friends make fun of me for going to an eye doctor to get laser hair removal, but TRUST me it's worth it. The woman who does the service is amazing. Inept, Careless and Mean Doctor Warning! After an eye examination, Dr. Lawrence Gipson of NEOVISION had lenses crafted for me that didn't at all match my eyes. When I attempted to contact Dr. Gipson to get this resolved, I was ignored for months... until---after much stress---I had to make an actual appointment in order to see him. Initially, I wrote Dr. Gipson a short explanatory letter and mailed it to 2615 East Carson St., providing my full contact info: phone, email, and address. Two weeks later after receiving no response I sent an electronic communication stating that I had sent a letter but had yet to hear back. Still no response. I then wrote a detailed letter and personally hand-delivered it to a young assistant named Ebony. I asked her to make sure Dr. Gipson received it. Still there was no response. Even after I made a phone call and told his assistant Courtney about the letters I had mailed and self-delivered---Dr. Gipson, according to him, received nothing from me until the day before I saw him for an actual appointment. Why did he not receive my mailed or hand-delivered letters, my electronic communication or phone call attempts to inform him of my letters? I was ignored like this for months. As I see it, either one or both of two realities exist: either Dr. Gipson is a liar, and/or he runs a terribly inept business. Note: this matter of NEOVISION oversight was enormous! First there was the examination. I worried about it at the time---a particular (almost comical) flaw in Dr. Gipson's methodology, but I trusted there were enough checks and balances in his procedure to correctly gauge my reading sight. I even told him at the time, as he held various lenses to my eyes, that I could not see the paper he was having me hold out in front for his arm obstructing my line of sight. His examination rooms are quite small. If he were able to get behind the patients to employ the lenses---instead of alongside them---he could then afford those in the chair an unobstructed view of what he is asking them to see. So he wrote me a bad script and didn't even come close to properly gauging my reading vision. The day after the examination I was called back in to NEOVISION by Tommy, the young assistant who had worked with me the day before. The initial frames decided upon were somehow not available, so I needed to chose something else. Plus she had overlooked $150 of insurance money allocated toward my eyewear. I was glad to come in, as I didn't like the initial frames, and it gave me an opportunity to not only choose a more likable pair, but to ask for single-vision lenses, as I could not see myself needing bifocals, as Dr. Gipson had talked me into the day before. However... my wanting single-vision lenses became a problem. After Tommy went back to check with Dr. Gipson, he came out and convinced me to stay with bifocals---but he did so in a manner that was entirely presumptuous and imposing. Furthermore his bearing toward his assistant was basically mean and demeaning as he was teaching her how to deal with the likes of me. After he went through the same bifocal spiel he did the day before, I told him I don't read that way. He then gave me some try-on glasses to gauge how comfortable it would be to read "looking down with my eyes instead of turning my face directly toward what I was reading," but when I did just that, as he instructed me to do, he automatically exclaimed, "See! You read that way." But I don't. Not naturally. He outright refused to listen to me and imposed something upon me I neither wanted nor needed. I capitulated in the moment and trusted him that my bifocals would otherwise do me good, and gave in, in part, on account of how mean he was with his assistant. I say as much because Dr. Gipson's answer to me for why he didn't get any of my attempts to contact him was that one of the gals that assisted him was going through something. This answer made only partial sense to me, because I went through multiple gals in my attempts to contact him. Was there an office-wide conspiracy to keep my letters from him? What definitely did make sense was that anyone working for him might be subject to a breakdown. I personally witnessed Dr. Gipson demeaning the ladies who work for him. And his interactions with me were quite stressful. When I was forced to make an appointment to see him he was remarkably arrogant and condescending toward me. He only offered me a refund, and berated the assistant for assisting me as she had. I wish someone had warned me about this mean hack! The thin slice I have of Lawrence Gipson characterizes him as a mean and demeaning, arrogant and ignorant, inept and careless doctor! Please BEWARE of Dr. Gipson of NEOVISION! read more

I got 60 units with a Groupon in December and had little results but many more forehead wrinkles by March. I went back in with 20 units from Groupon and the doc (?) announced his discontent that I had purchased through Groupon and told me he only gets 50%. He said I didn't purchase enough and as he put in the first needle he said he was giving me 40 units. I thought he was giving me extra because I complained about my previous results but when I went to the counter they told me I owed $200. I said I didn't have the money and so I post dated checks. She cashed them early and cost me $150 in fees and my results of the injections were below average at best. Don't go here! He is greedy and has little talent!!! read more

Hi! I just spoke with Nicole, well rather she spoke over me. I came in with a Groupon for $170 and after the service he asked If I would like an additional appointment which would match the Groupon price, in which I AGREED. Now regaurdless the confusion, I was promised more units and I paid an ADDITIONAL $170 for the next appointment in which I had a family emergency (brother had a siezure while driving) . When I called, I made 7-10 calls and none were answered and no responses were made to any text or voicemail both my secretary and I in regards to rescheduling. Today, my secretary called and nicole answered and began telling him I had never purchased AN ADDITION $170 worth after the Groupon purchase. I confirmed with her and she said I'm there is nothing in the computer saying I paid another $170 in CASH. Now this is unsettling and I really hope this situation can be resolved. I would put no stars if I could but otherwise 1 for the others on the office, but dr Lawrence Gipson doesn't deserve that. I hope I can receive the units promised. The woman did explain on the phone, that after, I would be receiving additional units for the follow up appointment. I planned to be a recurring customer since the dr was so kind....now I'm just waiting on a call back from them...again. read more

Oh my, a bit of an unfortunate experience here. Came here in a fit of desperation, seeing as I was just about out of contact lenses and needed an appointment as soon as possible. That being said, "as soon as possible" doesn't mean I'd like to compromise price, service, and quality. While Dr. Gipson and his staff were accommodating enough, I felt that there was something tragically... off... about my whole experience here. At first they seemed friendly enough, but my appointment was extremely rushed and everything seemed rather half-assed. At the end, I wasn't entirely sure I went to a real optometrist - the whole thing seemed so contrived, impersonal, and rehearsed. It seemed, after all, that they were simply after money (which I spent a good amount of). I also decided to change the quantity of my contact lenses a day after I ordered them (upon realizing they were much cheaper elsewhere). I called the next day to request my change and they accepted. When I came in to pick up my order, I was told I had already been charged the full amount and either had to take my order or accept store credit. Needless to say, I had no need for the store credit (what's the point of that?) and thus conceded. Definitely avoid this place at all costs! read more

The service here is good. I had an appt. to have my eyes checked for lenses as well as contacts. I also ordered a pair of glasses. I have a strong prescription, and with the thin lenses and their AR (anti-reflective) coating my glasses look like they don't even have lenses in them. There's no glare, ever! Not on pictures, not when I'm out at night... Yes, the frames are expensive (around $400) but you get what you pay for. I bought glasses from another local place, I paid 1/2 of what I paid here but the quality of the workmanship is just terrible compared to Neovision. read more

I was having dessert at the bakery across the street and decided to stop in to look for sunglasses. The lady working there greeted us and asked if she could help us. She wasn't pushy. In fact she told us to look around. She sowed me a pair and we talked about how pretty but fragile they were. I found several pairs I liked. I asked if I could just bring my script in and she said yes. It's a nice store with a wide range of styles for men and women. They have brands like Chanel, Prada, Dolce & Gabanna, as well as Ray Bans. They had several brands that I wasn't familiar with. I may go back for some funky sunglasses. read more

Very, VERY happy with the service at Neovision. I have been going to them for a couple of years now for glasses and contacts. (Yes, their designer frames are expensive, it's true. If you're looking for a bargain or a two for one deal, this probably isn't the place for you.) I finally made the decision to get lasik done. Dr. Gipson was straightforward with me as to what I could expect. (In contrast to the other consultations which were nothing more than a sales pitch where I didn't feel my eye health was even considered at all.) After the lasik procedure was completed, Dr. Gipson was attentive to my needs (and I'm a little bit high strung when it comes to my eyes. I'm that person who goes on Web MD and convinces themselves they have every rare disease known to man). He answered every one of my questions, and has given me great post-op care. I don't know how he is as an ophthalmologist but I do not recommend going for botox, especially through groupon. I have a lot of experience working with botox - I worked at a med spa for many years. I know what 40 units of botox does to my face and it appeared the 40 units he gave me was ineffective. I went back for a 'touch-up' and he admitted he didn't put 40U in because he doesn't like to overdue it even though that is what I had paid for. Lo and behold, the touch-up was even a fail and still had wrinkles. I tried elsewhere for another 40U at a later date and had a great experience with no need for a touch up or additional units. read more

I came here the first time because I was in a pinch and needed an eye exam because I ran out of contacts. My first appointment Dr. Gipson was very thorough with his exam. I felt he was very knowledgeable and he gave me information on Lasik and PRK. The office has a very trendy selection of eyeglasses from very high end names. Be prepared to spend about $400 on frames. I got some awesome Chanel ones that looked amazing! I now live in the area and continue to go for exams, They are not as thorough as the first, but I still feel like my vision is being well cared for. read more

I would actually give Neovision no stars if possible. I have faithfully been going there for years now because I trusted them. At each and every appt. the doctor would ask me if I needed a new prescription for eye drops. I didn't. At my last appt. I was told if I needed eye drops, to simply call. I noticed their efficacy had expired today. I called and asked for a new prescription. Unfortunately I had to call 3 times and was finally told I would need to come in if I wanted a new script. I had just been there a few months prior. There is absolutely no need for me to see the doctor. There is nothing about the prescription that would precipitate the appointment. Stay away from this place!! I went here because I could not see clearly anymore. Literally- my vision was awful... I told him this and he ordered me contacts to try. I did, but things were still very blurry. Two more pairs of "trying" other prescriptions later, things were still blurry, but it had been over a month of trying so I decided to order a pair of contacts that made things a LITTLE clearer. In this day and age, he didn't re-examine my eyes or give me contacts that provided good vision which in hindsight, was a red flag. (Found out later, i have an eye condition- unnoticed by Dr. Gipson!) Still, i paid big bucks for the exam and contacts so I needed something to hold me over until I went to a better eye Dr. Two months pass, and I was STILL waiting for contacts that I ordered and was told they would arrive in a week! When I would call the receptionist did nothing to help, nor apologize or try to make it right. She merely told me she would pray that they come in. And she went on praying like crazy on the phone to me, instead of fixing the problem. What?! I finally got to a better Dr. who gave me perfect vision and better yet, checked my eyes instead of blindly making me try out contacts! It was so unhealthy and negligent what that Dr Gipson did. I had headaches and nausea for the month of blurry contacts he made me try. Advice: avoid this place! read more

I had such a nice experience at NeoVision. I called for an appointment and was happy they could take me in the evening after work. They were also very familiar with and knowledgeable about my insurance, which was helpful because insurance can easily complicate matters. When I arrived, I was quickly greeted and the staff was friendly. Dr. Gipson was very thorough -- he examined my eyes and gave me a lot of useful information, discussing the Lasik surgery I had previously had as well as how my slight astigmatism may change over time, etc. But, best of all, they have a very high quality selection of glasses. The brands are very nice and I left feeling very satisfied with my choice. I didn't feel like I had to settle or that I had very few options, and this alone made the experience worth it. DONOT GET BOTOX HERE!!! I've been getting Botox for years and I have always had great results with 30units. I purchased a Groupon for 40units and I was very excited to get my Botox for it had been nearly a year because I just had a baby and of course you shouldn't get Botox while pregnant. So after getting 10more units than I typically get I expected the same results as always. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT! First of all when he did the first 2 injections something dripped out of the syringe and down my face. He continued on without explaining and as if nothing happened. The results were horrible with lots of movement still and I could still furrow my brow. When I went in and complained I was told I he was going to give me 6 more units in between my brow. I don't know what he injected me with the first or second time because there was no change after the touch up. He came in the room with prefilled syringes so I didn't see him prepare them with the product. This was also unusual because other places I've been they prepared the injection right in front of me. So 4 months that after this experience I went to a different Doc at a different business and had half of the units done as I did with Dr.Gipson with great results. I went to neovision for an IPL photofacial after discovering a deal on groupon. Very professional office and kind staff. I was satisified with the photofacial results and am going back for another! Would reccomend to those who have been thinking about IPL but haven't pulled the trigger yet. I purchased a Groupon for 20 units of Botox. I am not afraid of needles at all, but like any procedure, there could be side effects. Long story short, I had myself so anxious and worked up, I ended up passing out during the procedure. The Doctor handle the situation very calmly, called for help, put ice packs on me, smelling salts, gave me chocolate, and allowed me to hang out until I felt better. I had also referred my boyfriend as a patient for many years also. He is very hard to please and a difficult patient and considered Lasik for many years. Finally he trusted Dr. Gipson to have it done last year. Although surgery needed rescheduled because of an issue with his eyes, he is 1000% satisfied with the outcome. I was referred by UPMC Urgent care for an eye infection. The staff were able to get me in immediately. Everyone was very friendly and professional. They did a complete checkup and diagnosised the condition. The doctor sent me an article so I would know what it was. In order to make sure it was working, I went back on Saturday. They opened the office early to accommodate my schedule. Additionally, I had a chance to check out glasses for a future visit. They take most of the vision plans and have a large selection that qualify. I will be a regular client. read more

Botox - First let me say this is not my first experience with Botox and my first experience was not great (with the service that is). I stumbled upon Neovision's through groupon, which was an amazing deal. I made my appointment for the very next day and after 5pm. Dr. Gipson was AMAZING, he didn't just see how many units I bought and go to town. He sat with me and went over all of my concerns and problem areas, he gave me his honest and very professional advise. The appointment went perfect. I had my 3 week follow up (should have been 2 but I was on vacation). I informed them that I was loving my results but had one area that did not take as well as the others. He spent just as much time with me as the first appointment and answered all the questions again that I had. He then without question added a few units to the area for no charge. The whole entire team was amazing, and I will be back. I will also be looking into checking my eye care provider to switch as well. Neovision was absolutely a breathe of fresh air. read more
