My mother had contracted with Neptune over 20 years ago. There was no additional fee and my mother's wishes were carried out exactly as she had contracted. Dealing with Shante was pleasant and made dealing with a sad situation very easy. When I had to make changes to the online obituary Shante was very accommodating. My father passed away January 29, 2022. He and I had been estranged for a couple of years for reasons I don't need to explain here. I was not notified by anyone that he had passed and only found out about his passing three months later on March 15, 2022. When I found out, I called the Plantation office of Neptune Society numerous times and left messages on their voicemail. No one ever answered the phone. The Plantation office of Neptune Society had had an obituary of my father's death on their website. I was hoping to find out how my father got to the cremation site and what information they had about my his passing. No one ever called me back. I also tried calling the Jacksonville office and spoke to someone there who tried to help by emailing the Plantation office and calling asking that someone get back to me. No one ever did. I am appalled by this lack of caring. Neptune Society was happy to promote their cremation services to my father and happy to take my father's money (he prepaid his cremation). The fact that this office of Neptune Society never got back to me is appalling. What has triggered this note, is that Neptune Society now has the nerve to pursue me with targeted direct mail marketing to convince me to prepay a cremation for myself with them. I will be calling the marketing department to tell them to stop sending me information about their services and I will be telling them why. This organization is so frustrating. My dad passed and I was told there were unpaid fees. These fees were to a total of double what was originally agreed and no indication of any payments. My brother is in there care. My only complaint is he is my brother for 56 years and we are very very close that i was even his medical POA while he was a live. But they can not even tell me if his wife picked up his ashes weeks later. My mother is 87 years old and cant sleep at night worry about where her first born child's ashes are. This hits a family hard. We have no communications with his wife for our own personal reasons. A simple yes or no would ease my moms mind. For this reason I would not recommend Neptune. It should be for the family not just a wife. You don't know the situation with him and his wife at the time of his death. read more

My mom set up her end- of-life plans with The Neptune Society. when she died all I had to do is call them. They took care of everything. I was told that my funeral director would call within 24 hours, which he did. George Scott was kind, caring and very helpful. He told me exactly what to expect and then he took care of everything. "Communication" is SO IMPORTANT during a time like this and apparently Neptune Society does not feel the same. Trying to get someone, AYNONE but their answering service is impossible! It's just a run-around when the person on the phone says they are there 24 hours but NO ONE is there now to take you call? Also, EVERYWHERE on their website and brochures the pricing is missing, seemingly very secretive? This is not a transparent way to do business and leads to doubts about the entire company, especially after reading the other negative reviews. We have found a local and "very upfront" service that actually does the cremations themselves and have their own facilities, getting around any sub-contracting and price add-ons. I would recommend checking in your local area. read more

The below review is copied from the letter I sent Neptune. I have taken my time to write this letter because I do not want to write from a place of misplaced emotions. I am writing to complain about Neptune's disheartening business practice. My mom had made her death arrangements with Neptune some time ago. When she passed away at home, her nurse called Neptune so they could begin the process of tending to my mother's wishes. Unbeknownst to me at the time, my mom never paid on the contract, but Neptune still picked up her body having this information. Per the manager, Malory, in Plantation, Neptune's policy is they will pick up any body without any information on the person. I don't see how that could possibly be true because, as I used as an example, it would not make business sense if I called Neptune to pick up a homeless person who passed away because there would not be a financial gain to do so.  When my mom's nurse called Neptune, at that time (!) they should have called me to discuss the balance due and my options and not pick up her body until a conversation was had with the family.  My mom, Patricia, suddenly passed away on the morning of Nov. 10, Tuesday. Neptune was called by mom's nurse. Her nurse told the caller that my mom had a contract with Neptune (Again, my mom told me that all arrangements had been made with Neptune and that there was nothing for me to do). So you can imagine my surprise when Neptune picked her up at her home on Tuesday and then Raymond Scott tells me on Friday, Nov. 13, that she never paid and there was a balance in excess of $3,000.00. No one from Neptune reached out to me on Tuesday after picking up my mom. On Wednesday morning, I received a call from Raymond Scott needing additional information for the death certificate which I sent by email later that night. I did not hear from Raymond Thursday. I sent him an email Thursday morning asking what was the next step, no response. When I called the office, I was told he was with clients. He finally sent this email response Friday morning, "HI, I was in training yesterday, sorry, when you have a minute this morning please call the office to discuss the number of death certificates and the final disposition of mom's remains."  30 minutes after the email (3 days of my mom being in Neptune's custody), Raymond calls to inform me that my mom never paid and as a "courtesy" they will discount her balance to $1,900.00. So really, Neptune will pick up a person to "hold hostage" and play on the emotions of the family. They will charge an outlandish price and in the midst of dealing with the death of a loved one, the family will pay. Thankfully, I had the support of others to guide me elsewhere. Also, Malory offering to waive the fee of having my mom moved is an absolute joke. Neptune was wrong in picking her up to begin with, prior to informing the family of the status of the contract. Neptune preys on the raw emotion of the survivors in hopes of making a buck. It is disgusting! read more

The Neptune Society treated my dad's death as just another item on the "to do" list to be checked-off. They did a poor job of explaining the paperwork and cremation process. 15 days later they give me a white paper bag with a box of my dad's ashes. That's it. Ok, with all this eating, drinking and socializing, a guys gotta plan ahead for a place to rest... so to speak. I reached out to an agent for a cremation package to choose. The agent was very helpful and efficient. Within a matter of 2 hours, I chose the $1775 package, which includes cremation and transport of body if I'm away on a trip. You actually get cremated and the ashes get flown back. There was a misunderstanding with the cost of a box in which to keep the ashes ( what for?) I chose it by mistake, thinking it was included. The cost escalated to $2700 ($1000 box). I called and complained, understanding it was an innocent, misunderstanding and mistake. Everyone I spoke to was so understanding and apologetical and willing to make it right. Everyone was so courteous and helpful and polite. They immediately refunded my deposit of $599. I will however, pick a new package again in the near future but will read docs. carefully so as not to go through any unnecessary inconvenience. It's a good thing to do to plan ahead, and Neptune Society is the best in the business. For now, I will continue to eat, drink and be merry and put my cremation bin the back burner( pun intended). I don't want to go into a lot of detail, its in the past. My mother was diagnosed with dementia in 2007. She made one phone call to Neptune and within a few days TWO people were pulling up in my parent's driveway to make arrangements for her. Fast forward 12 years and my dad and I are making calls all over the planet trying to figure out what to do! The people are nice but they are very clearly motivated to sell, sell, sell. There was NO communication other than "do you want to buy this...or this...how about adding on this..." No! Just what happens now? Like, where does she go? Who picks her up from the hospital? My dad and I had to personally drive to the crematoriums in our county looking for my mom. It was so bad it was funny. We laughed at how funny mom would find it. Neither the Crematorium nor Nepture had anything to gain since it was paid for already. And that's the service we got. The day before her service, we still had no idea where she was. The kicker, my mom wasn't dead one week and some salesperson from another office called me trying to sell me a Neptune plan for me and my brother! Cut out Neptune. Go directly to your local crematorium. They offer the same "plan ahead" service. read more

My relative recently passed away and had signed a contract with Neptune years ago. I called the 800 number on the card shortly after their death, and everything was taken care of in a sensitive, efficient and caring manner. There was no additional cost to the estate or myself. The death certificates and notifications to the government were done correctly and quickly. It was really a great lifting of some of the many burdons during a time of grief. read more

MY husband and I pre-paid for our funeral expenses through the Neptune Society, as he was a veteran, and it seemed to be the logical and most inexpensive way to go. When my husband passed, Neptune picked up his body. I had never really looked at the contract, so I wasn't sure what all was covered. However, my two daughters had come down from out of state as soon as I let them know that their step-father had passed, which was the very next day. When we went to Neptune to finalize everything, they wanted to see my husband just to say goodbye, but Neptune said it wasn't in the contract, and it would be considered a viewing, and we would have to pay almost $400 to do it, and then it would be through a glass window. We were very upset, but decided to let it go. Also, during the meeting, the director seemed only interested in selling us jewelry and other cremation memorabilia at outrageous prices. I told him at least twice we were not interested in any of that. It took them 20 days to get the cremation permit, so my husband was in cold storage for 20 days, but yet me and my daughters were not allowed to see him one last time. This has caused me much grief and lack of closure. I called and asked about the clothes he was wearing when he died, and they said he was cremated in them, that it was considered "hazaradous waste". They never asked me about his clothes or told me that he would have to be cremated in them. They said it was the law, but yet, I have found nothing in Florida statutes about it. So his remains also contain the ashes of his clothes. To say the least, I am very disappointed in the way this was handled. Overall, the staff was very nice, and I understand they are supposed to try and sell you stuff, as that is how they make money, but you can't tell me they don't make exceptions occasionally to accommodate the grieving family. All I heard about anything, was that it would cost me extra. They need to take a look at their policies and put themselves in a grieving widow's place. I bet if a member of their family passed away and they were handling it, it would be a totally different story. read more

To have a funeral or a cremation for a loved one is always a difficult time, however I want to thank Kelly and Gabby for their outstanding work in helping me with all of the paperwork and logistics in getting things orderly done in the cremation process of my father. I write this review regretfully. Our first contact with the Plantation office was comforting, responsive and sensitive. We were told we would be notified of my daughter's whereabouts throughout the process however after I paid for cremation and at another meeting ordered the urn I never heard from them again. After waiting for almost a month to hear when my daughter's cremation would take place I called Raymond Scott. He told me he would look into it and call me back. Thirty minutes later he called to tell me my daughter was at their office while we waited for her urn to arrive. HE HAD NO IDEA where my daughter was prior to my call. I was never notified that she had been cremated almost two weeks prior and had no idea that her remains were at the Plantation office...and neither did he. He apologized but even that lacked the sensitivity of a caring professional who was speaking to a grieving parent. His voice was hurried and preoccupied. I am saddened, appalled, offended and shocked that my daughter became BUSINESS AS USUAL by this organization. I feel violated by their callous response to my grieving heart. My father passed away at hospice on a Monday. Neptune picked up the body on Tuesday. Mom got ahold of someone on Tuesday and they said be patient, it was a busy weekend! She called every day after that, multiple times and only got voicemail. Finally on Friday, Malorie told her there was additional paperwork to sign and she needed to meet with a funeral director. By Friday we assumed that dad was already cremated. After calling multiple offices, we were told mom could sign the papers on line. After another week we are still leaving messages with no returned calls. So now it's been 2 weeks and we still don't know where we are in the process and dad is still in cold storage (we think)....very very bad. This is the worst experience I have aver been a part of. We are a grieving family and have to deal with all this. No communication or caring. Mom bought the Neptune policy 20 years ago so things would go smooth and quick. July 2010: my mom contracts for and full pays for her own cremation with Neptune Society Dec 21, 2017: mom passes.Neptune Society picks up her body. Jan 25, 2017: no body, no cremation, no return calls. WHERE IS MY MOM??? I was initially told that in order for me to pick up her cremains all 5 of her children needed to send in notarized documents (many pages) authorizing me as the pick up person. OK, I can see how some fighting might ensue in some families. However a one page document would be sufficient. All documents were returned to them by all of us within 10 days. Then on Jan 8th I was told they lost one of my siblings notarized stuff due to an office move and they could not cremate mom without it?! WRONG! MOM SIGNED THE CONTRACT TO BE CREMATED AND DOES NOT NEED ANYONE ELSES PERMISSION TO BE CREMATED. Over the phone they took my sister's verbal assurance that she signed it. In my paperwork of MANY pages there was one page with a slew of check boxes where you could agree to be in this or that program and be contacted by this or that group or organization. My page came to me ALREADY CHECKED yes on most of them. I called my "case worker" (FYI mom is not a case, find a better title) and she stated it was "standard procedure" to check the boxes for the client. I told her it was NEVER standard procedure to check yes for any customer without their consent and I do not wish any of them to be checked. OK she says. Just indicate that on the form. So I scratch out all the checks, write "no to all" on the page and voila! I already got my JD Powers survey by email. A JD Powers contact was one of the check boxes. SMH. Hey Neptune Society, did you sell my contact info too? So I called them SEVEN DAYS ago and they said mom had not been yet cremated and someone would call me back "TODAY" to let me know why. Seven days later still no call.... I guess I need to pick up my moms body an bring her somewhere else? Thanks Neptune Society for helping to ease my grief. I am sick over this. SMH read more

I just lost my father on Jan 9, 2023 he was in hospice. My head was spinning I've never had to plan arrangements before. The only reason I chose Neptune was because my in laws have pre planned with them. The sales lady Darlene was extremely pushy and persistent as I was trying to enjoy my last days with my dad she wouldn't stop calling. Anyways she convinced me to get the pre plan before his death occurred, saying it would save money. Remember my head was spinning due to what I was about to lose. After payment I never heard from her again. A couple of days later my dads time had ended. I had to reach out to Neptune multiple times via phone, email to inquire if they had my dad. Inquired about the process repeatedly. I was so worried he'd get lost in transit, I was a wreck. I shouldn't have been the one doing all of the reaching out. Finally after receiving my fathers Ashe's I requested an itemized receipt and was told by Jimmy he would email it to me. I never received it. It was not a pleasant experience for me and I will not use them again. It truly felt like a business transaction their was no compassion. I felt as if we were taken advantage of during a very heartbreaking moment. This was my experience. I never really write reviews, but this one experience really upset me. read more

I attended a seminar back in Jan. 2017 for the Neptune Society and I was very impressed by everything that was said. At the time, I bought the plan for myself. When I went home and told my mother, she said to sign her up too. Unfortunately, she passed away in April in the ICU. The Neptune Society was caring and made sure everything went smoothly. Judi Berliner came to our house and was very understanding of our situation and very informative about our options should we choose Neptune Society's services. We signed up for my mother-in-law and my wife and me. My mother-in-law passed away a few weeks later and Neptune Society handled everything with dignity and care. My father, a retired US Air Force officer, pre-arranged his cremation through Neptune Society and provided us with their contact information. When the time came and we needed them, they could not have been more compassionate, caring, and professional. We had two specific requests regarding a color guard for my father's memorial service and the disposition of my father's remains for a special ceremony in another state that required special handling. In both cases, Neptune employees stepped up and went above and beyond to ensure everything came together as we requested. Elizabeth Gordon worked extremely hard for us within a very tight timeframe to make sure the Air Force color guard was onsite for my father's memorial service. Their presence was one of the most moving and memorable parts of the program and will live on in our memories forever. Kellie Hoodiman made it her personal mission to make it possible for my father's cremated remains to be in Texas in time to be part of a very special ceremony involving the last flying B-29 Stratofortress - a plane he piloted in Korea. This was no small undertaking. It required considerable coordination with a number of entities. Given the limited time we had available, few thought it was possible, but we pulled it off! It was due to Kellie's dedication, professionalism and determination that Dad's final flight was in that last flying B-29. We needed an angel's help - ours was Kellie - and our family will be forever grateful! Having the team at Neptune Society on our side during this very difficult time made all the difference. It allowed us to focus on honoring my father and dealing with our grief while they seamlessly handled the myriad of details behind the scenes. I can't recommend them highly enough!
