I called Nerd Crossing for help when my notebook stopped working. They came to pick it up from my job and let me know real quick what was wrong and gave me a tune up. Then I told them I was interested in buying a laptop w/ a bigger screen & I was on tight budget. They e-mailed me some sites and prices to get a new one. When I went to purchase my laptop I wasn't sure if I should get this particular one so while I was in the store I called Jim and he actually spoke to the salesperson and asked questions on my behalf and then spoke to me and recommended that I not buy that laptop and he will do some more research and send me an e-mail. The next day he sent me an email w/ a website to where I could purchase a dell for a very very good price. I purchased the dell and then once I received it Khoi came over to my house installed everything I needed got me back up and running. They also came back a few days later to hook up my printer ( that I had for two yrs and didn't know how to hook up). Khoi came to my house & was AWESOME. He was very personable, quick, patient (w/my lame questions.. i am extremely tech-NO) and he knew what he was doing. Nerd Crossing saved me not only money, but my time . I have 2 separate Businesses with 2 separate issues. The first was moving our server from it's location to it's new location. Jim and Khoi were on it. Professional , timely , and reasonable. If I had tried to do this myself , my 3 salons would have been down for days. There is a lot of complex stuff to doing this that I just don't know about. Server is running perfectly and the stores didn't have any down time. Geek Squad would have charged me triple and they would not have taken the hands on approach that Nerd Crossing did. The 2nd was removing the virus off my Computers and resolving how to get my Lorex camera system viewed remotely as well as on my IPhone. Again -one third of the cost as GEEK SQUAD. The "nerds" at Nerd Crossing are wonderful! We are thrilled with the new website that they built for us. It is exactly what we wanted and is definitely going to achieve our goal of increasing our visibility and outreach. Beyond loving the end result of the project, we were also very impressed by how they handled the process from start to finish. I love Nerd Crossing! Jim and his team of Nerds consistently to a great job. Most recently, my sons ASUS laptop screen needed repair. They found the problem, made the repair and quickly returned it to us. The price was very reasonable. Nerd Crossing also provides tech support for our company. We have nine locations around Northern California, which is hard for our one-man tech guru to cover. Nerd Crossing provides back-up when our guy is unavailable or on vacation, and they help provide coverage when he can't be in two places at once. They also provide a variety of tech services that we don't have in-house. Overall, the Nerd Crossing team has been very responsive, timely and professional. We had a serious virus on our old computer and the Nerd Crossing fixed the problem very fast. I had the bad boy virus again within a few weeks, I called and they fixed the problem right away. They installed some great virus blockers which is working just wonderful. I asked for theIr advise on purchasing some software for converting 33 records to cd's, within two days I had the answer via email. Made another appointment and the service person came to our home installed the software and showed us how everything worked. We had additional questions and again he explained how to work out our issues. Remember seniors have a harder time understanding computers than these younger kids. We were having problems with a very slow running computer and a few other glitches. After a call in the late afternoon, we were scheduled for the following morning. When Khoi showed up as scheduled on a Wed. morning, he explained what was needed to correct the problem and took the computer with him. I am sure he could have returned it to me the same day if the hardware was available. He had the hardware Fed Ex ed to his office, repaired and back at the house hooked up and ready to go by Fri. AM. My computer on off switch was broken , my laptop hinge cracked. I took it to another place and they said it wasn't worth fixing even though my laptop is only 1 and a half years old and cost me $800. Anyway I took it to Nerd Crossing and they quoted me a price of $99 which I thought was fair to save my beloved laptop. However it seems the crack was worse than either of us thought and they didn't think they could fix it correctly so Mark did what he could and kind of jury rigged it and didn't charge me anything! We are an elderly couple and we own two older Mac desktop computers. These computers contain many…read moredocuments, photographs, videos, and music that we had been unable to access for years. Daniel came to our home and explained how he might be able to transfer all of our material to a new external hard drive. So as not to give us false hope, he told us that sometimes older files are unable to transfer to newer devices because of incompatible formats but that he thought there was a good chance he would be successful. We felt Daniel's fees were reasonable and decided to give it a try. Three days later, we got the surprise of our lives. Daniel found a way to recapture the words, photos and music that are so precious to us. He also taught us how to access the material to print out/view/and listen to on our new computer. We are so delighted to see old photographs again, listen to favorite music from the 1950s through the 1970s, and hear the voices of our parents who we recorded many years ago. Daniel's service includes picking up and returning the computers. He also showed us how to label things correctly, create new files, and adjust the audio properly. In addition to building custom computers, Ryan also does hardware repairs and fixes programming issues. Ryan was able to quickly accept my laptop at 8pm, and spent the night and the next day diagnosing and fixing the problem. His hours are flexible and he doesn't drag out his work over several days. I was very impressed at the speed with which he was able to work on things, and the completeness of his work. In addition to fixing a software bug issue, he did a diagnosis of the health of my drives, my virus software, and recommended a switch to a free program, which he did for me. The cost of his help, considering the level of attention and speed, was quite fair. It should be noted that Ryan is a local college student. I'm quite happy to be helping someone who is working his way through school. I appreciated his help so much that I created a Yelp account just to leave a good review. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
