We usually use a hotel close to Arc de Triomphe/Etoile but prices have gone up there recently so we can no longer book it. The limit per night is 200 EUR, breakfast included, which La Villa des Ternes with 174 EUR/room/night (sans bf) fit just nicely. There are cheaper rates if you book early and/or different room categories. We found La Villa des Ternes online, as a recently renovated hotel within walking distance to Porte Maillot metro N*1 and RER station, which is great for both La Defense and the airport. The hotel is on busy Avenue des Ternes, which makes it a bit loud for rooms that go out toward the street however I was on the 6th floor and it was absolutely fine at night with a closed balcony door and the AC running. The reception manager even speaks quite good German and was very helpful finding us another room as due to a glitch in the booking process only 1 room got booked - we were lucky to get another one with no problem at all. Hall/lobby and bedrooms are very modern in grey/silvery or brown/golden colouring, the lobby offers an iMac for easier online browsing, free (and quite fast) wifi is also available. Staff we found to be very different in demeanour with the Chef de reception being extremely nice and accommodating, one male receptionist - whom we had to deal with at check-in - showing no passion for his job and/or the hotel guests at all, yet another young man and young lady receptionist being very helpful and professional. Beds are very comfortable- not too hard, not too soft, bathrooms modern and clean. TV programs are mostly in French although I did find some with audio in the original version, to be changed via the remote. We did not have breakfast there thus I cannot comment on that. I will use this hotel on my next trip hoping that rates won't have increased until then..;-)

So it was convenient to get around, to many tourist attractions. The receptionists were super helpful and friendly. They went extra miles to help us. My wife lost some belongings in a store in Italy. Adrienne, the receptionist, called the store in Italy for us to arrange the shipment. Our room wasn't big but it was super clean and had everything a good hotel room should have.

Staff was helpful in so many ways. When we landed in Paris after 14 days in Italy I woke with a horribe foggy headed cold and I had no ability to make any kind of plans for anything as far as what to do, where to go and how to get around. But nothing was going to keep me down, or in bed. I asked for help from the hotel front desk and they held my hand all the way, every day. They made all resturant suggestions, dinner reservations, where to go for the day, booked all tours and provided maps on how to get back to the hotel. They seriously took care of us and I didn't have a care in the world. They saved me from just wondering aimlessly around Paris. Loved it there and would go back in a heart beat.

They planted an empty bottle of champagne in my room and accused me of drinking alcohol so they could charge my card when I don't drink alcohol. Manager, Julien Humbert, became verbally and physically abusive and threatened to charge my card with further items as soon as I left the hotel. He then verbally and physically assaulted me calling me an "uneducated, poor, disgusting thief." I had to call the police. They were reported to the Fraud department and I have started legal proceedings.

Unfortunately, during our three day stay here, lots of things went wrong…read more - Upon check in, we were asked to provide a security deposit, which of course is normal and expected. However, their card machine did not work. We tried many different cards, all of which were working normally, but we were still blamed which was extremely embarrassing when surrounded by other guests. Fifteen minutes later, we were told "not to worry" and never had to provide a deposit. - The room was literally back-to-back with the elevator of the hotel. A little bit of noise is of course totally understandable in a hotel but we could hear the elevator shaft every time it was used, and this was hugely disturbing of our sleep. - Very concerningly, we received a letter that was intended for another guest. This is obviously a huge breach of confidentiality. - Our room booking promised "premium bedding", when in fact both sides of our duvet were old, cheap, and had 10+ inch rips down either side. I spoke to the "director" of the hotel, Julien Humbert, who has not given me a single apology for this terrible experience, but has instead very worryingly told me that he did not see any issues in the concerns that I raised, and that I apparently do not appreciate the struggles the hotel has been through since the pandemic. I fully understand the struggles that the world has unfortunately been through, however this is absolutely no excuse for the terrible service we endured. Please, please, stay elsewhere.

Slightly longer walk to other tourist destinations but still walkable. The hotel still uses keys as opposed to key cards. You'll be given your key and asked to turn it in each time you leave. Its a fun thing I only see in Europe anymore. The staff is friendly and dropping off/getting your key won't take any significant time. The rooms are a bit tight as you won't have much room to walk around your bed. Still, for the heart of Paris you'll be fine. The AC works but you won't be too cold so be ready if you visit Paris in a heat wave like I did. Breakfast was included with my stay and I have to say I loved it. Plenty of options and open long enough to either grab quickly in the morning or grab a bit after a healthy run. Net, an overall solid experience for my week stay. I'd recommend!

I particularly appreciated the whimsical animal sculptures, they put a smile on my face. =) Walking into the hotel there's a bar area directly inside on the right, a seating area on the left. Check-in is at a kiosk on the right side middle area of the lobby. The key system is old-fashioned--you take the key up to the room to unlock the door and return the key to the front desk each time you leave the hotel. I wonder a bit how they keep track of all the guests, and how they know who should have access to them. The rooms and bathrooms are modern, clean, and quite decent-sized for Europe, the room I was in was about 8.5-9" wide by 10-11" long, not counting the initial entry area by the door, with a true full-sized bed (not too beds pushed together). The mattress was on the medium firm side but comfortable. The bathroom allowed ample space for comfortable movement, I was impressed by the rainforest shower that had about 3.5ft x 3.5ft of standing room. Great water pressure and consistent hot water. Bathroom amenities include hair dryer, bar soap, shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, shower caps, tissues, and towels enough for 2 people. The room was equipped with a ~40" flat screen tv, mounted on the wall opposite the bed, a phone, a fairly spacious closet, two pairs of indoor slippers, a sewing kit, shoe shine kit, stocked minibar, a small safe, two extra pillows. I didn't notice usb ports for charging but I'd brought my own so it was ok. Remote for tv worked fine, there were five or take around 25-30 channels most in French, several in English. Breakfast was included in my stay and it's served from 7-10am daily in the cafeteria area on the first floor, an attendant takes your room number. This was an above average spread of breads (baguettes, brioche, sourdough, mini croissants, crepes, pancakes, French toast), meats, cheeses, cereal, eggs (scrambled or you could boil your own), jams, teas and two coffee machines available. Two smaller issues I had, which probably wouldn't stop me from staying here again, at least during cooler months: 1) There's a thermostat for the room that I either couldn't figure out how to use, maybe was turned off automatically due to time of year, or maybe was malfunctioning--upon arrival the room was stuffy and warm since it was 80F degrees outside. After setting the target temperature to 73-4, I could feel the airflow very faintly thru the vent. But after about 15-20min the thermostat turned off automatically so the AC stopped. Tried several times to turn it back on and same thing happened. Since it was cooler outside in the evening (high 50's to mid 60's F) I ended up cracking the window (since it was the 5th floor) bc otherwise it was too warm inside. The window shade/sheet directly attached to the window was a bit sheer so I had to maneuver the black out curtains (which were wonderfully thick--blocked out all sunlight) to cover some of the window pane while it was open but still let enough air in. 2) As mentioned above keys are returned to front desk when you leave the hotel. The room door locks automatically regardless of whether you use the key to turn the lock so it's more deadbolted. One day although I left the do not disturb sign on the door the entire stay, I returned to find the lock not deadbolted as I had left it. Nothing was missing in my room but it made me feel like I should be a bit more cautious.

Great location - very nice neighborhood, close to metro and many stores and restaurants, walking distance to many places (including the Eiffel Tower), felt safe. 2. Friendly staff - very friendly and always willing to help. 3. Air conditioning in rooms worked well! Very nice during the hot summer months. 4. Black out shades in room. 5. Complimentary snacks in afternoon (candies, nuts, juice, etc...) Cons: 1. Breakfast was only okay - it was included with our room, but I don't think it would be worth it otherwise. That said, the pastries were delivered fresh each morning. :) Overall, I'd highly recommend this hotel and I'd definitely consider staying again on my next trip to Paris!

The views are decent from the rooms in the front of the building. The bathrooms were nice and clean and room service came everyday to tidy up the room (they even folded my pjs if i left them out LOL). The only reason I'm giving it four stars is because of one staff member who was rude to us our entire stay (he mostly works overnight) He spoke to us like we were dumb if we asked questions about the room and things regarding our reservation at the hotel. He even shushed us one night when we were picking up our food from the lobby because we were laughing, meanwhile he's laying on the couch with his laptop on his lap and even locked the front doors. I just found that strange since hospitality from the staff is one thing that should be a basic thing (unless you're being rude to them). The rest of the staff we're super friendly and helpful especially the younger ladies and Christian!
