I had such a fun experience at my 3rd Sur La Table cooking class this afternoon in Boulder! I took…read morethe Cast-Iron Cooking class with Chef Cameron and learned to make Grilled Chicken with Chimichurri Sauce, Charred Cast-Iron Green Beans with Lemon Vinaigrette, Griddled Flatbread, and a Skillet Brown Butter Cookie. Everything was delicious! The class was smaller than expected, which turned out to be a huge bonus for me since I got lots of hands-on instruction and attention, plus I got to take home some very tasty leftovers. Even better, the class fee included a 10" Lodge Cast-Iron Skillet to take home, so I walked away with both new skills and a great piece of cookware. And because I had a 10% coupon, I picked up a couple of cast-iron skillet holders, too. A really enjoyable afternoon, a great instructor, delicious food, a chance to interact with the retail staff who are always helpful, a complementary cappuccino from a ridiculously sophisticated and expensive machine, and a new skillet to put to work. I'd definitely take another Sur La Table cooking class!

This is truly a hidden gem on 29th street…read more Within you'll find everything you need for a top notch home cooking experience. From a Staub cookware and Miyabi knives, to adorable aprons and cat booty magnets they've got you covered. Aside from top notch customer service, nearby covered parking, and central location they offer a variety of cooking classes to satisfy any age palate. I've been eyeing the date night classes for quite some time and can't wait to tell my friends about their kiddie cooking camps and classes. I was surprised to find everything from French pastry, to restaurant ramen, pasta ravioli, tamales, from scratch dim sum to Korean bbq. You could literally learn to cook anything. If you are looking to spruce up your kitchen be it accessories or a new Kitchenaid mixer I highly recommend popping in for a visit.

So my experience overall was pretty good but I was a bit.......surprised with a couple of things…read moreand this might be a personal preference so I do suggest trying it for yourself first. 1) Directions were clear to the class and the menu was correct. The food we baked were DELICIOUS!! I loved my food. The pastry chef was ssssoooooo nice and very understanding as well 2) i booked the class on Eventbrite and I probably should have checked the actual website (so this is probably my fault) but I didn't know we would team up and bake/cook together. If I had known, I would've invited a friend. I know that people we don't know cook our food at restaurants but seeing it happen in person in a cooking class threw me for a loop. Yes, we washed our hands before starting and throughout the class, but I may have a slight personal ick or something about people touching my food without gloves Overall the class was not bad and a good experience baking wise. I just wish I did better research on how the class was going to be set up.

Oof big miss Cooking…read moreclass was a group cooking class where we made the dishes together so each of us barely participated. I cut an onion and some herbs. I whisked some eggs. And I poured a little alcohol on the pot. Those were examples of my main tasks- I piped some mouse and potatoes and that's about it. In 3.5 hours. The chef was nice but very surfer chill vibe. He rushed through instructions -it was clear he has said that stuff a million times thinking it's boring to us but not realizing we actually wanted to hear it and learn. He did most of the cooking. He didn't even read the instructions in the packet to us, just took over and here and there and asked someone to stir or cut something. We didn't learn anything. And it was freezing. A few of us had our winter coats on. Food was just average. Tasted like something I would have cooked with no recipe (which is tasteless). Steak was overcooked and had a ton of fat on it. Potatoes were tasteless. Salad was ok. Mouse was ok. For Valentine's Day premium, expected more. Even Sur LA Table cooking lessons were better than this. There, I at least learned a little , got to cook my own food and the food was actually tasty and worth the wait.
