My son started vision therapy with Ms. Headding after being diagnosed by Dr. Sollom with vision disorders. Shortly thereafter, he was diagnosed with ADHD and anxiety disorders. He started vision therapy with below average results on all his state tests. However, through the expertise of Dr. Sollom in his diagnosis, Ms. Headding with her vision therapy and tutoring, my son is now scoring high average grades on his state tests! This has been a challenging few years for my son but he always looked forward to meeting with Ms. Headding for tutoring! Both show such compassion and kindness with their students, flexibility for working parents and most importantly, Ms. Headding taught me how to be an advocate for my son once we received the ADHD diagnosis, offering to work with his teachers & his school to educate them on his vision disorders and as well as helping inform me and my son as to what accommodations we could request because of his ADHD diagnosis. We are so grateful to Neuro-Visual Therapy for the incredible turn around we saw with our daughter. She went from doing everything possible to avoid reading to now loving even long books. Imagine what this means as she heads into middle and high school! Everything they did from the first time we met until she was released from the program was virtually perfect. Their satisfaction guarantee gave us certainty that what we were investing would give us the results we were seeking, with no later "add on" time. Communication throughout was impeccable. Our only regret is that we didn't know sooner about vision therapy and that our daughter needed it. I have since heard that many ADHD diagnosed children may actually have the type of vision problems our daughter had, and their behaviors are a mask for what is difficult for them to understand or express. My daughter completed vision therapy at Neuro-Visual Therapy in December of 2014. We are thrilled with the results! She started to read at a young age, but she never liked reading. She complained her eyes were tired and it gave her headaches. She said sometimes the letters get blurry and move on the page. It was also difficult for her to get notes on paper quickly from the board or overhead in class. Our eye Dr. said that vision therapy would help, but that if we waited a few years, she may grow out of it. We decided to get a second opinion with Dr. Solom at Focused Eye Care. He said it would help a lot. He was right. The vision therapy took 6 months. Nicole, the vision therapist, was wonderful and my daughter actually looked forward to her appointments. She no longer gets tired eyes reading, no headaches, and her reading comprehension has improved so much! She can get her homework done much faster because she can read faster. We love Neuro-Visual Therapy! Every encounter we've had with any of the staff members has been nothing short of wonderful. Other therapy sights we checked into had much longer wait times to even be evaluated prior to the program. At NVT they worked with us to be seen by Dr. Solom quickly and referred into the program for Nicole to start her spectacular work. Dr. Solom is great with kids and Nicole relates so well to her clients as well as their parents in terms of what the expectations are. Such excellent service and positive results. Nicole is obviously very passionate about her job and made therapy fun for my daughter. Nicole takes a very individualized custom approach to each patient and creates a plan for his or her specific need. Only the number of visits needed for the patient. Elsewhere we were told my daughter would need more that twice the number of visits Nicole suggested.
